Separate the faucet from its installation
A faucet replacement quote needs a clear starting point: an existing sink, an identified replacement and a written list of included work. A quote for moving pipes is a different project from mounting a faucet in the same location.
Home Depot’s installation benchmark, re-read October 22, 2026, describes its own service. Use it as a scope reference, not a promised local price. Confirm whether the figure you receive is installation only or a total that already includes the faucet.
For the same retailer benchmark, new supply lines and old-faucet disposal are included; countertop drilling and cabinet modifications are excluded. Other installers may define the job differently. Ask for their written scope before comparing totals.

Fluidmaster B6F20 for a longer supply run
Fluidmaster’s B6F20 is an optional connection part, not a required companion to the Adler above. Its catalog identifies a 20 inch faucet connector with 3/8 inch compression at both ends. The exact Amazon offer specifies female compression ends and braided stainless steel. Those endpoint details decide whether it belongs in your job.
Two female connector nuts need suitable male mating connections. Reading 3/8 inch on the faucet sheet and 3/8 inch on a hose title is not enough to establish a usable extension. Ask the installer to identify the actual mating surfaces before adding this line to the parts list or the quote.
That check matters when a replacement faucet has its own supply tubes. If those tubes already reach compatible valves, a separate connector may have no role. If they stop short, the solution still depends on the maker’s instructions and connection arrangement. Do not assume an extra hose will join directly to another female nut.

For a bathroom faucet installation cost, first separate the faucet from any drain assembly included in the box. Ask whether the installer will reuse the drain or install the new one. A faucet-only proposal should not leave you guessing about the stopper, tailpiece or existing trap.
For two bathroom sinks, request a scope for each location. Matching faucet names do not establish matching shutoffs or access. Ask whether the proposal covers both replacements and which conditions would require approval for additional work. Do not divide one combined total into invented per-sink labor charges.
Write the total as: faucet purchase + installation quote + explicitly excluded work + applicable taxes or fees. Leave unknown amounts blank until confirmed. If the installation quote already includes a part, do not count that part a second time.

A kitchen faucet installation cost cannot be inferred from finish alone. A manual pulldown model needs a compatible mounting and hose route. A powered model adds its own power requirements. Ask about the exact model instead of assuming every kitchen faucet has the same installation scope.
Keep a concealed tub or shower valve out of a sink-faucet comparison. The visible trim may hide a different plumbing task. If the proposal involves opening a wall or moving a supply, request a description of that alteration rather than applying a sink replacement benchmark to it.
Check the sink before choosing the faucet
The existing opening is the starting point. Record the hole layout above the sink, mounting thickness below it and the route to both shutoffs. A photo with dimensions is more useful for a quote than a faucet finish name alone.
Kitchen mounting matches
For the Adler example, compare one or three holes, the 1-1/2 inch minimum opening and the 2-1/2 inch deck limit with Moen’s drawing.
Bathroom pattern differs
Match the separate centerset or widespread mounting drawing to the existing holes. A plate does not turn every bathroom layout into a compatible mounting.
The supply route is unresolved
Have the installer check valve outlet, faucet endpoint and reach together. Do not choose B6F20 just because two descriptions contain 3/8 inch.
Stone needs a new hole
Use a qualified fabricator’s assessment. OSHA identifies silica exposure from countertop work; the work needs dust controls and appropriate respiratory protection where required. Avoid casual dry drilling.
Give the installer an underside photograph that shows the faucet mount, drain and shutoff valves together. If the old faucet hides the opening, say that the diameter is unconfirmed. Keep the existing faucet connected until water isolation and the removal plan are settled.
For mounting thickness, use the dimension the maker actually labels in the drawing. Do not assume a countertop’s advertised thickness describes the entire mounting path. Where the drawing is unclear, have the installer resolve the fit before you commit to alteration or extra parts.

A new faucet can arrive with its own mounting hardware, supply tubes or drain components. The exact model’s manual decides how those parts join. Ask the installer to identify what is included in the box and what their quote adds.

Do not make plumber’s tape, putty or pipe dope a universal item on the parts list. Delta’s kitchen instructions prohibit sealant on specified supply connections, while its metal pop-up instructions specify sealant at different drain joints. Those are different joints on different assemblies. Follow the manual for the faucet and drain you actually install.
If that manual calls for silicone or another chemical, follow its label’s ventilation and protective-equipment instructions. If you cannot identify the joint or the required sealant, leave the assembly to a plumber. Adding sealant to an unidentified connection is not a substitute for checking how it seals.
Decide which work you can handle
For DIY, compare the parts and tools you actually need with a written installation quote. Include the possibility of professional help if a shutoff fails. Do not treat the retailer benchmark as guaranteed savings or assume a wrench purchase makes every replacement suitable for DIY.
Wear eye protection before using a wrench under the sink. RIDGID’s wrench safety guide calls for eye protection. Follow the faucet and tool instructions for the work you plan to do, and stop if you cannot isolate the water or reach the mounting hardware safely.
Fit and isolation confirmed
A direct replacement may be a DIY option if local rules allow it and you can follow the exact model’s manual. Moen says to turn water off before removal. Open the faucet to relieve pressure and verify isolation before disconnecting; call a plumber if flow continues.
Water will not shut off
Do not disconnect pressurized lines. Follow the maker’s shutoff precaution and call a licensed plumber if a valve fails to isolate. Plan the water-main shutoff with them before repair.
Hot supply is unsafe to handle
Keep water isolated before opening a connection. Let hot components cool and use the faucet maker’s safety instructions. If you cannot control the hot supply, stop and call a plumber.

How much does installation cost if I already bought the faucet?

Does the installation quote include the faucet?
Only if the written proposal says so. Record the model and who supplies it. A total that includes a faucet cannot be compared directly with a labor-only figure until you separate the scopes.
