For an accessible metal dryer connection, consider Eastman ArmorFlex 69028. For a tight turn on a compatible dryer, consider Whirlpool 4396006RW. Check the dryer manual and final layout first; the elbow and duct serve different jobs.

Two dryer vent parts for different problems
| Part | Choose for | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Eastman 69028 | Accessible metal transition duct; 4 in. × 8 ft. supplied | Trim to allowed installed length; not concealed duct |
| Whirlpool 4396006RW | A 4 in. close-turn elbow; turns within 4½ in. | Elbow only; check dryer compatibility and remaining duct |
These are complementary parts, not two complete competing vent systems. The Eastman is the connecting duct. The Whirlpool changes its direction at a tight connection. Neither includes an entire run to the outdoors. If you need hidden ductwork or an exterior hood, have the installer specify those separately.
Eastman ArmorFlex 69028: for the accessible connection
Choose the 69028 when you need to replace the exposed metal connector behind the dryer and its instructions permit this duct type. Eastman lists this SKU as a 4-inch-diameter, 8-foot semi-rigid aluminum dryer duct supplied with clamps. The maker’s product table and appliance catalog agree on the part number and supplied length.
Its useful distinction is the all-metal transition construction: Eastman describes ArmorFlex as combining flexibility with semi-rigid construction. That description is not a measured drying-time advantage over another product. We have not run comparative airflow or crush tests.
Skip it for a concealed wall, floor or ceiling run. Also skip it if the appliance manual requires another material. Eight feet is the package length, not permission to leave eight feet installed. For example, Whirlpool’s W10646601A instructions limit flexible metal vent to 7¾ feet and require removal of excess. Your dryer’s own manual determines the installed limit.
The Amazon listing identifies model 69028. Our October 17, 2026 Creators API check found a New, in-stock buy-box offer sold by Amazon.com. Choose the numbered product rather than a similar-looking foil duct from the same search results.

Whirlpool 4396006RW: for a tight turn
Choose this elbow when a compatible dryer connection needs a defined 90-degree turn. Whirlpool specifies a 4-inch diameter and a turn within 4½ inches, with snap-lock fittings and rotating collars. Its W10646601A installation document names 4396006RW as the DuraSafe close elbow, giving a second maker reference for the exact model.
This is a geometry choice. It is not a claim that a sharp turn improves drying. A useful order starts with the dryer model, the direction of the wall connection and the available space. Compare the elbow’s dimensions with that layout before asking whether another flexible hose will solve it.
Skip it if the existing connection is already straight, your dryer is incompatible, or the complete assembly still cannot fit without crushing. The stated turn dimension is not a universal minimum rear clearance for the appliance. The dryer and the other connected parts still need their own clearances.
The Amazon model field matches 4396006RW. Our October 17, 2026 API check found a New, in-stock buy-box offer sold by Amazon.com. Whirlpool’s own store showed it temporarily out of stock; that is a separate seller’s availability, not a reason to assume the Amazon offer is unavailable. Warranty terms for this accessory were not verified.

Dryer vent means three different shopping jobs
First identify what is missing. The short accessible connection behind the appliance is the transition. The fixed route carries exhaust to the exterior. The outside termination lets that exhaust leave. Replacing one part does not establish that the other two are suitable.
A buyer with a crushed connector needs a layout check and a compatible transition. A buyer finishing a laundry room needs the whole exhaust route specified. A buyer with a stuck exterior flap needs the termination inspected. Taking one photo behind the dryer and another outside helps an installer distinguish those jobs before you order a box of parts.
These are dryer exhaust components, not plumbing vent fittings. Our wet vent guide covers drainage ventilation; do not treat its fittings or layout as dryer exhaust advice. Likewise, a PVC plumbing vent cap is a different product category.
The hose gets crushed when the dryer goes back
The U.S. Fire Administration advises checking behind the dryer for damaged, crushed or restricted venting. That makes the final appliance position part of the purchase decision. A connector that looks round while the dryer sits in the middle of the room may not fit once the appliance is back in its laundry space.
Before buying, record the outlet direction and the space available in the intended position. Ask the installer whether the connection needs a flexible transition, a close elbow or a different approved layout. Do not solve a clearance problem by forcing the appliance against the connector.
The Eastman’s supplied eight feet gives material to work with, not a reason to store a spare loop behind the machine. The Whirlpool elbow may address a turn, but cannot create room that the appliance itself requires. If access is too tight to inspect the completed connection, arrange professional installation rather than assuming it stayed open.
Check the appliance manual before the duct label
The reviewed Whirlpool manual permits flexible metal only where accessible for cleaning, requires it to be extended and supported, and excludes it from enclosed walls, ceilings and floors. It forbids plastic and metal foil vent. It also requires outdoor exhaust and uses a model-specific vent-system chart.
These are the requirements of that document, not a universal chart for every dryer. Keep your actual appliance’s model number with the parts order. If its manual and a connector’s marketing page appear to disagree, get the appliance maker’s confirmation before ordering. A listing or a heat-resistance statement does not override the manual.
Do not confuse the package’s nominal length with an allowable system length, or count only the visible hose when assessing the route. Ask the installer to check the entire route against the correct instructions. This guide does not provide gas-connection, electrical or concealed-duct installation instructions.
Long drying times: do you need a new part?
A new connector is a sensible candidate when the existing one is damaged or cannot fit the planned layout. It does not establish why a load takes too long. The fire-safety flyer calls for lint-filter cleaning before and after each cycle and checking that the outdoor covering opens during operation.
Use those observations to describe the problem to the technician: visible damage, a restrictive position, or an exterior covering that does not open. Avoid buying a longer hose solely because the current dryer is inconvenient to pull out. Decide on the completed route first.
For gas dryers, moving the machine or disturbing its connections belongs with a licensed professional. Have electrical work handled by a qualified professional too. The U.S. Fire Administration recommends professional dryer installation and service; the products here do not change that advice.
Warranty and the final order check
Eastman’s linked RWC limited warranty lists “All Other Eastman Products” at one year, subject to its installation conditions and exclusions. Confirm the application of those terms to your purchase and retain proof of purchase. We did not verify a separate warranty specifically naming the 69028. For Whirlpool 4396006RW, warranty terms were not verified; the store’s return policy is not a warranty promise.
- Exact purchase: 69028 for the duct or 4396006RW for the elbow.
- Existing equipment: identify the dryer and read its exhaust requirements.
- Fit: check the completed connection, not just an empty wall gap.
- Scope: confirm who supplies the remaining exhaust route and termination.
- Installation: use a professional and preserve cleaning access.
Frequently asked questions
Is an eight-foot dryer vent hose always allowed?
No. The Eastman 69028 is supplied at eight feet, but the installed limit comes from your appliance instructions and local requirements. The Whirlpool W10646601A example limits flexible metal vent to 7¾ feet and requires removal of excess.
Does the Whirlpool elbow replace the whole dryer vent?
No. Model 4396006RW is a four-inch close-turn elbow. It does not supply the full connection, fixed exhaust route or exterior termination.
Can I use the Eastman duct inside a wall?
Do not buy it as concealed ductwork. The reviewed Whirlpool instructions prohibit flexible metal vent in enclosed walls, ceilings and floors; have the fixed exhaust route specified for your appliance.
Will a new dryer vent fix slow drying?
Not necessarily. Check for visible damage and restriction, maintain the lint filter, and have the dryer and exhaust system assessed. A replacement part does not diagnose the cause.
Is a PVC plumbing vent cap a dryer vent?
No. Plumbing vent fittings serve a different system. Select dryer exhaust parts using the appliance instructions and a professional installation plan.
How we chose
We compared product specifications, fit limits and manufacturer documents, without hands-on testing. Each named pick has a maker product page and a second maker reference naming its exact model. We checked New Amazon offers with the Creators API on October 17, 2026. These are two parts for different jobs, not a complete exhaust kit. Read our selection method and about Plumbing Picks.
