Best Filtered Water Faucet (2026): Taps and 3-in-1s

Plumbing Picks is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Quick answer from a licensed plumber: For most kitchens, buy the Moen Sip Traditional F7600 drinking water faucet and pair it with Moen’s F9800 under-sink filter. IAPMO lists that filter, with its F9820 cartridge, to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 for lead, PFOA/PFOS, cysts and chlorine taste. If you are replacing your kitchen faucet anyway, the Moen Align 3-in-1 puts filtered water in the main faucet. For a water report or well test showing fluoride, nitrate or high TDS, the Delta Clarifi RO system with its matching faucet has the longest certified claim list of our picks. These are plumbed taps, not the clamp-on filters that screw onto a spout.

Our pick for most kitchens: the Moen Sip F7600 drinking water faucet with the Moen F9800 filter. Check the Moen Sip F7600SRS on Amazon

A filtered water faucet is a drinking-water tap fed by a filter that lives under the sink. You get filtered water on demand without a pitcher in the fridge or a cartridge hanging off the spout. There are two kinds. A separate tap, often called a beverage or RO faucet, sits beside your kitchen faucet. A 3-in-1 kitchen faucet builds a filtered waterway into the main faucet. Either way, the faucet does not filter anything. The filter under the sink does the work, and the certification that matters belongs to that filter. That is the difference from the clamp-on faucet-mount water filters like PUR and Brita, which hold a small cartridge on the end of your existing spout.

Certifications are from IAPMO R&T’s public listings, read on September 29, 2026. Each claim applies to the listed system with the listed cartridge at the listed flow and capacity. IAPMO lists the Moen Sip and Align faucets for material safety and structural integrity only, which is normal: a faucet is not a filter.

How to Choose a Filtered Water Faucet

Separate tap or 3-in-1 faucet

A separate tap keeps your main faucet as it is and gives filtered water its own spout. It needs a hole. If your sink has a spare sprayer or soap dispenser hole of the right size, you can use that. A 3-in-1 faucet replaces your kitchen faucet and needs no second hole, but its filtered stream is slow. Moen rates the Align at 0.7 gpm filtered. If your kitchen faucet is due for replacement anyway, the 3-in-1 is the clean option. If you like the faucet you have, add a separate tap. For regular faucets, see our kitchen faucet picks.

Carbon filter or reverse osmosis

Start with what is in your water. City water customers can read the utility’s annual water quality report, and well owners need a lab test. Moen and Delta both say not to use their systems on water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without disinfection before or after the system. Plumber’s note: have a well tested for bacteria too, not only for chemicals. A carbon block filter like the Moen F9800 is IAPMO-listed for chlorine taste and odor, lead, cysts, PFOA/PFOS, mercury and VOCs with its F9820 cartridge. It needs one connection on the cold line and no drain. A reverse osmosis system like the Delta Clarifi adds claims a carbon filter does not have, such as fluoride, nitrate and nitrite, pentavalent arsenic and TDS. It needs a drain connection, and the Clarifi also needs an outlet. More in our under-sink reverse osmosis guide.

Match the faucet to the filter

Buy the faucet the filter maker pairs with its system, or check the connections before you buy. Moen says the Sip and the Align work with its F9800 and F9900. The F9800 uses 3/8 in. push-to-connect fittings. Moen says it fits its S5500-series Sip faucets only with adapter 262578. Delta makes the DWQ4001002 to pair with the Clarifi. KRAUS ships the Purita with a 3/8 in. connector and sells a 1/4 in. one separately. A mismatch here means a trip to the store with the faucet half installed.

Air gap and the drain line

An RO system sends reject water to the drain, and the air gap keeps drain water from backing up into the filtered water. The Moen Sip and the Delta DWQ4001002 have one built in. The Moen Align needs Moen’s separate 105895 air gap for an RO hookup. The KRAUS Purita has none. Plumber’s note: many local codes want an air gap or a listed drain adapter on an RO drain line, so ask your building department before you pick a non-air gap faucet for an RO system.

Filter changes and the parts that wear out

The cartridge is the running cost, so check its life before you buy. Moen rates the F9820 at 845 gallons, about a year. Delta rates the Clarifi RO and carbon cartridges at 2 years or 1,320 gallons. Some parts wear out besides the cartridge. Moen says the F9800 housing must be replaced every three years. Delta says to replace the whole Clarifi system every 10 years to prevent leaks and water damage.

Top Pick: Separate Filtered Tap

Moen Sip Traditional F7600 with the F9800 Filter

Faucet F7600SRS · cold water only, lever handle · integrated air gap, per the spec sheet · 3/8 in. compression inlet · 1 hole, 1-1/4 in. minimum, deck up to 2-1/2 in. · filter: F9800 carbon block, 3/8 in. push-to-connect, 30-80 psi · F9820 filter rated 845 gal · warranty: see below

The Sip is a small cold-water tap that sits beside your main faucet and pours only filtered water. Moen builds it to pair with its F9800 carbon block filter or its F9900 reverse osmosis system, both sold separately. The faucet does no filtering itself. We link the F9800 as the second button because it is the simpler install: one tee on the cold line, one filter head, no drain connection. IAPMO’s listings show the F9800 with its F9820 Advanced filter certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine taste and odor, to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead, cysts, PFOA/PFOS, mercury, asbestos, MTBE, turbidity and VOCs, and to NSF/ANSI 401 for 13 listed drug and chemical traces, at 1.6 gpm and 845 gallons. The Sip itself appears on the NSF/ANSI 42 listing for material safety and structural integrity only.

Buy the F9820 Advanced cartridge, not the F9810 Basic, when it is time to replace it. IAPMO lists the F9810 at 500 gallons, and its NSF/ANSI 53 claims drop cysts, MTBE and PFOA/PFOS. Moen says the F9820 lasts about one year in a typical home, and a battery LED on the filter head tells you when to change it. Moen also says the filter housing must be replaced every three years from the install date to prevent leaks. Moen’s documents disagree on two things. The faucet spec sheet (03/26) gives a 3-year limited warranty, while the installation guide (11/23) prints Moen’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. Plan on the shorter term. The spec sheet limits flow to 1.5 gpm at 60 psi, but Moen’s product page lists 0.7 gpm maximum.

  • Filtered water gets its own tap, so the main faucet is untouched
  • F9800 with the F9820 filter is IAPMO-listed to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401
  • Integrated air gap if you later move up to Moen’s F9900 RO system
  • Filter-life LED and a one-connection filter hookup, per Moen
  • Needs its own hole in the sink or countertop
  • Faucet and filter are two separate purchases
  • Moen’s spec sheet (3 years) and install guide (lifetime) disagree on the faucet warranty
  • Filter housing must be replaced every 3 years, per Moen

Verdict: The pick for most kitchens: a dedicated drinking-water tap with a certified carbon filter and no drain connection.

Best 3-in-1 Kitchen Faucet

Moen Align 3-in-1 Water Filtration Pulldown F5923

Model F5923SRS · pulldown with 3-function wand: unfiltered stream, unfiltered spray, filtered laminar stream · filtered flow 0.7 gpm, unfiltered 1.5 gpm at 60 psi · 1 hole, 1-1/2 in. minimum, deck up to 2-1/2 in. · 68 in. braided hose · 1255 Duralast cartridge · pairs with F9800, or F9900 RO with air gap 105895 · lifetime limited warranty

If you do not want a second faucet on the sink, a 3-in-1 puts the filtered water in your main kitchen faucet. The Align runs filtered cold water and regular hot and cold water through separate channels. Moen says you flip a button on the spray head for filtered water, which comes out as a laminar stream. Moen’s spec sheet says two independent check valves provide the backflow protection. The faucet has no filter inside. Moen’s install guide says a filtration system, the F9800 or the F9900, has to be installed first, so budget for the F9800 linked in the top pick.

The trade-off is flow. Moen rates the filtered stream at 0.7 gpm against 1.5 gpm for tap water, so filling a stockpot with filtered water takes longer. If you pair it with Moen’s F9900 reverse osmosis system instead of the carbon filter, Moen says you also need its 105895 air gap, sold separately. The Align goes in one hole of at least 1-1/2 in., with the handle on the right side only, per the install guide. Moen lists a lifetime limited warranty against leaks, drips and finish defects for the original homeowner.

  • Filtered water from your main faucet, no second hole
  • Separate filtered and unfiltered waterways, per Moen
  • Two check valves for backflow protection, per the spec sheet
  • Lifetime limited warranty for the original homeowner
  • Filter system is a separate purchase (F9800 or F9900)
  • Filtered stream is only 0.7 gpm, per Moen
  • An RO hookup needs Moen’s separate 105895 air gap
  • Handle installs on the right side only

Verdict: The pick when you are replacing the kitchen faucet anyway and want filtered water without drilling a second hole.

Reverse Osmosis Tap: Most Certified Claims

Delta Clarifi RO System with the DWQ4001002 Beverage Faucet

System DWQ1001012, tankless 6-stage RO · 600 gal/day at 50 psi and 77°F · 2:1 filtered-to-waste, per Delta · RO and carbon cartridges 2 years or 1,320 gal; pre-filter 6 years or 3,960 gal · needs an outlet (80 W minimum) and a 1-1/2 in. drain for the saddle · faucet DWQ4001002-SS: air gap included, 1.5 gpm max, hole 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in., deck up to 3 in. · system 5-year warranty; faucet lifetime limited

This is the pick when your water report or well test shows something a carbon filter is not certified for. IAPMO’s NSF/ANSI 58 listing for the Clarifi DWQ1001012 covers lead, cysts, fluoride, pentavalent arsenic up to 300 ppb, nitrate and nitrite, radium, selenium, copper, barium, cadmium, chromium, total PFAS, TDS and turbidity. Its NSF/ANSI 53 listing adds VOCs, NSF/ANSI 42 covers chlorine, chloramine, taste and odor, and NSF/ANSI 401 covers microplastics and a list of drug and chemical traces. Delta’s manual limits two of those claims. The nitrate claim applies only at 50 psi or more. The arsenic claim covers the pentavalent form only, on water with a detectable free chlorine residual or water shown to hold only that form. Delta says chloramine treatment does not count. The system and the faucet are two listings, so there are two buttons. Delta makes the DWQ4001002 faucet to pair with this system, and its spec sheet says the air gap is included.

An RO system is a bigger install than a carbon filter. The Clarifi is tankless and plugs in. Delta says the receptacle belongs in the sink cabinet or on the wall next to it, and the unit needs at least 80 W. It sends reject water to the drain through a saddle on a 1-1/2 in. drain pipe. Delta says to put the saddle before the P-trap and never on piping after a garbage disposal or dishwasher drain, and to use a UPC- or IPC-approved drain line adapter where those codes apply. Delta says pressure above 50 psi gives the best flow and suggests a booster pump below that. It also says to replace the whole system every 10 years. The system carries a 5-year warranty, the filters 30 days. Delta’s product page also lists a bundle of the system and a faucet, but we link the two pieces we could match to Delta’s model numbers.

  • Longest IAPMO-listed claim list here: NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 58 and 401
  • Tankless, with 2-year RO and carbon cartridges, per Delta
  • Faucet made to pair with it, air gap included
  • Both listings sold and shipped by Amazon
  • Needs an outlet in or next to the sink cabinet
  • Needs a drain saddle and an air gap or code-approved drain adapter
  • Nitrate claim only at 50 psi or more; arsenic claim for the pentavalent form only
  • Filters carry only a 30-day warranty, per Delta

Verdict: The pick for a water report or well test with fluoride, nitrate or high TDS, or arsenic within Delta’s limits, when you have an outlet and a drain under the sink.

Tap for the Filter You Already Have

KRAUS Purita FF-100 Drinking Water Faucet

Model FF-100SFS · cold water only, single lever · non-air gap · 1.0 gpm max · 12 in. tall, spout swivels 360° · 3/8 in. connector included (1/4 in. sold separately by KRAUS) · 1 hole, 1-1/4 in. minimum, countertop up to 3-1/16 in. · lifetime limited warranty on structure and finish, 5 years on the valve cartridge

Buy this one when the filter is already under your sink, or when you want to choose the filter yourself. KRAUS sells it as a stand-alone beverage faucet with no filter, for under-counter filters and most RO systems. It comes with a 3/8 in. connector, and KRAUS sells a 1/4 in. connector through its customer service line for RO tubing. KRAUS lists IAPMO certification to NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 for the faucet itself, which covers materials and lead content, not filtering. KRAUS pairs it with its own Purita 2-stage under-sink system, which we did not review here. For a filter to feed it, see our under-sink water filter picks.

This is a non-air gap faucet. That is fine on a carbon filter, which has no drain line. On an RO system the reject water needs its own path to the drain, and many local codes want an air gap there (plumber’s note). With this faucet you would add a separate air gap or a code-approved drain adapter. Two warranty terms matter. KRAUS covers the structure and finish for life and the faucet’s valve cartridge for 5 years. But its install guide says the warranty does not apply unless a fully insured and licensed trade professional installs the faucet. Keep the invoice.

  • Works with most under-sink filters and RO systems, per KRAUS
  • Sold and shipped by Amazon
  • Fits a countertop up to 3-1/16 in. thick
  • Lifetime structure and finish warranty; 5 years on the valve cartridge
  • No filter included
  • Non-air gap: an RO hookup needs a separate air gap or drain adapter
  • KRAUS warranty requires a licensed pro to install it
  • Lifetime warranty covers structure and finish; other mechanical parts get 1 year

Verdict: The pick for adding a proper tap to a filter you already own, or for a filter brand Moen and Delta do not pair with.

Before You Buy

  1. Know your water. Read your utility’s water quality report, or test a well, and pick the filter by its certified claims, not the faucet.
  2. Check the hole. Measure any spare hole in the sink or countertop. The Moen Sip needs 1-1/4 in., and the Moen Align needs 1-1/2 in. for a main faucet swap. Check the countertop thickness too: 2-1/2 in. maximum for the Moen faucets.
  3. Look under the sink. The filter needs room on the cabinet wall and a cold supply line to tee into. An RO system also needs a drain connection. The Delta Clarifi’s saddle fits a 1-1/2 in. drain pipe above the P-trap, not after a disposal. The Delta Clarifi also needs an outlet in the cabinet or on the wall next to it.
  4. Check your water pressure. Moen rates the F9800 for 30 to 80 psi. Delta rates the Clarifi for 20 to 80 psi and says above 50 psi gives the best flow. If your pressure surges, Moen says to add a pressure regulator ahead of the filter to keep it under 80 psi.
  5. Look up the refills before you buy. Find the replacement cartridge part number before you buy: F9820 or F9810 for Moen; DWQ300102, DWQ300202 and DWQ300350 for Delta.

Installing a Filtered Water Faucet

The hole

A stainless sink with a spare hole is the easy case. Plumber’s note: drilling a new hole in granite or quartz takes a diamond core bit and a steady hand, and a cracked top is expensive, so I would have the countertop shop drill it. The Moen Sip needs a 1-1/4 in. hole, the Delta DWQ4001002 a 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in. hole and the KRAUS Purita at least 1-1/4 in. See kitchen faucet hole size.

Tapping the cold line

The filter tees into the cold supply between the shutoff valve and the faucet. Moen ships a cold water tee with the F9800. Both Moen and Delta say to supply their systems with cold water only. Plumber’s note: trace the line to the handle before you cut in. Cold is usually on the right, but do not assume. If the shutoff under the sink is old and will not close all the way, replace it first; see our under-sink shutoff valve picks. Moen also says not to install the F9800 where a leak would cause damage, where solvents or sprays can reach it, or outdoors in direct sunlight.

RO drain and air gap

For the Delta Clarifi, the saddle fits a 1-1/2 in. outside-diameter drain pipe. Delta says to install it before the P-trap and not on piping after a garbage disposal or dishwasher drain, because it can clog. Delta says Massachusetts requires a licensed plumber for this install and does not allow saddle valves. Run the reject line through the faucet’s air gap, or a separate one, as the faucet maker shows.

Flush and check for leaks

Delta’s Clarifi runs a 5-minute automatic flush when you first plug it in. Delta says to run the faucet for 30 minutes after you install new carbon and RO cartridges. Plumber’s note: push-to-connect tubing leaks when the tube is cut at an angle or not pushed all the way in. Moen says to cut its tubing straight. Check every joint with a dry paper towel after an hour and again the next day.

When to call a plumber

Call a plumber if the countertop needs a new hole in stone, the shutoff valves are seized, or the drain has no clean spot above the trap for a saddle. Also call if your area’s code requires a licensed installer, as Massachusetts does for the Clarifi. KRAUS says its faucet warranty applies only when a fully insured, licensed trade professional installs it. An electrician should add the outlet if the Clarifi has none within reach.

FAQ

Is a filtered water faucet the same as a faucet water filter?

No. A faucet water filter, like PUR or Brita, clamps onto the end of your existing faucet and holds a small cartridge. A filtered water faucet is a plumbed fixture: the filter sits under the sink on the cold line and the faucet only delivers the filtered water. It takes an install, but the cartridge is much larger. The Moen F9820 cartridge is rated 845 gallons. For the clamp-on kind, see our faucet water filter picks.

Do I need a separate hole for a filtered water faucet?

For a separate tap, yes. The Moen Sip needs a 1-1/4 in. hole, and the Delta DWQ4001002 needs a 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in. hole. A spare sprayer or soap dispenser hole often works if it is big enough. A 3-in-1 faucet like the Moen Align uses your main faucet hole, 1-1/2 in. minimum, so no second hole is needed. See kitchen faucet hole size.

Does a filtered water faucet need an air gap?

Only with a reverse osmosis system, which sends reject water to the drain. The Moen Sip and the Delta DWQ4001002 have an air gap built in. The Moen Align needs Moen’s separate 105895 air gap with the F9900 RO system. Delta says to use a UPC- or IPC-approved drain line adapter where those codes apply. A carbon filter like the Moen F9800 has no drain line, so no air gap is needed. Check your local code before you drill.

How often do you change the filter?

It depends on the system. Moen rates its F9820 Advanced filter at 845 gallons, about a year in a typical home, and the F9810 Basic at 500 gallons. Moen also says to replace the F9800 filter housing every three years. Delta rates the Clarifi RO and carbon cartridges at 2 years or 1,320 gallons and the pre-filter at 6 years or 3,960 gallons. Both systems have a filter-life indicator.

Can hot water go through the filter?

No. Moen says the F9800 must be supplied only with cold water, and it rates the filtered waterway of its faucets at 40 to 100°F. Delta says the Clarifi is to be supplied only with cold water, from 41 to 100°F. Tee the filter into the cold supply line, never the hot one. On a 3-in-1 faucet, the hot water runs through the separate unfiltered channel.

Bottom Line

A filtered water faucet is only as good as the filter under it, so choose the filter by its IAPMO or NSF listing, then buy the faucet that pairs with it. The Moen Sip with the F9800 fits most kitchens. The Moen Align 3-in-1 fits when the main faucet is being replaced anyway. The Delta Clarifi RO system with its faucet covers the most contaminants, and the KRAUS Purita adds a tap to a filter you already own. Tee into the cold line only, check for leaks the next day, and put the cartridge change on the calendar.
