Best Heated Toilet Seat (2026): Bemis and Kohler Picks

Plumbing Picks is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Quick answer from a licensed plumber: For most bathrooms, the Bemis Radiance: it comes round or elongated and Bemis lists its three settings at 97, 100 and 104 °F. Want a low-wattage seat that lifts off for cleaning? The Kohler Cachet Heated, rated at 24 watts. Want app scheduling? The Kohler PureWarmth, which needs its own GFCI circuit. Check for a GFCI outlet within reach of the cord before you order any of them.

Our pick for most bathrooms: the Bemis Radiance heated seat, elongated or round. Check the Bemis Radiance elongated on Amazon

A heated toilet seat is a plain seat with a heating element and a plug. Most of what you need to decide happens before you buy it: whether there is an outlet close enough, and whether your toilet is round or elongated. This page compares three heated seats sold by Amazon.com on October 4, 2026, using the makers’ spec sheets and manuals. For seats that also wash, see our bidet toilet seat picks; for seats without heat, our toilet seat picks.

Check the Outlet Before You Buy

Every seat here plugs into a wall outlet, and every maker wants that outlet GFCI-protected. The cord length sets how close it has to be: 48 inches for the Bemis, 60 inches for the Kohler PureWarmth, and Kohler says within 4 feet of the toilet for the Cachet Heated. Kohler says not to use an extension cord with either of its seats.

The PureWarmth asks for more. Kohler’s spec sheet calls for one dedicated circuit with a Class A GFCI, and an outlet at least 6 inches above the floor, inside a 32-inch radius. Plumber’s note: many bathrooms have no outlet behind the toilet at all, only one at the vanity. Adding an outlet or a circuit is electrical work, so plan for that first, or pick the seat whose cord reaches the outlet you already have.

Keep it dry

Kohler says not to install its heated seats where water may splash on them or where condensation forms, and to ventilate when you bathe so humidity does not damage the electronics. Its guide also says not to spray or soak the hinge, and not to immerse or flush the seat with water. Bemis’s troubleshooting starts with resetting the GFCI if the seat has no power.

Round or Elongated?

Heated seats are sold by shape, like any seat, and the two shapes are not interchangeable. All three picks use the standard 5-1/2 inch spacing between the seat bolts. Measure from the center of the bolt holes to the front edge of the bowl; our toilet seat size guide gives the numbers for each shape. Bemis and Kohler both sell their heated seats in elongated and round versions, but only the Bemis is linked here in both shapes.

Best Overall: Both Shapes, Listed Temperatures

Bemis Radiance Heated Toilet Seat (H1900NL / H900NL)

Elongated (H1900NL) or round (H900NL) · 3 heat settings: 97, 100 and 104 °F, plus off · 120 V, 55 W, 0.46 A · 48 in. cord · GFCI outlet required · blue LED night light · Whisper-Close seat and lid · Stay-Tite fastening, Precision-Fit adjustable · 4 bumpers · plastic

This is the heated seat to start with, because Bemis tells you exactly how warm it gets. Its manual lists three settings: low at 97 °F, mid at 100 °F and high at 104 °F, plus off. No other maker on this page publishes seat temperatures in the documents we read. It comes in both shapes, elongated (H1900NL) and round (H900NL), and both were sold by Amazon.com on October 4, 2026.

Bemis rates it at 55 watts and 0.46 amps on 120 volts, with a 48-inch cord, and its spec sheet says it needs a GFCI outlet. The blue LED night light has its own button. Bemis says its Stay-Tite fastening never loosens, Precision-Fit adjusts the seat to fit the bowl, and Whisper-Close slows both the seat and the lid. The bolt spacing is the standard 5-1/2 inches. Bemis covers its seats against defects for at least one year.

  • Publishes its temperatures: 97, 100 and 104 °F, per Bemis
  • Elongated (H1900NL) and round (H900NL) versions
  • Separate night light button
  • Precision-Fit adjustment for the bowl, per Bemis
  • Short 48-inch cord; the outlet has to be close
  • Highest listed wattage here: 55 watts, per Bemis
  • Night light is blue only

Verdict: The heated seat to buy for most bathrooms, round or elongated, with an outlet near the toilet.

Best for Easy Removal and Low Power

Kohler Cachet Heated ReadyLatch Toilet Seat (K-33727 / K-33728)

Elongated (K-33727) or round-front (K-33728) · 3 heat settings, low, medium and high, plus off · heated surface 120 V, 1 A, 24 W · 120 V circuit with 15 A GFCI, outlet within 4 ft · automatic night light with light sensor, 3 brightness levels · ReadyLatch hinge, Quick-Release, Quiet-Close · Grip-Tight bumpers · plastic

Kohler’s Cachet Heated has the lowest listed wattage here. Kohler rates the heated surface at 24 watts, under half the 55 watts Bemis lists for the Radiance (our arithmetic); Kohler gives no wattage for the PureWarmth. It has three heat settings and starts on medium as soon as you plug it in, per the installation guide. One button runs everything: a press steps the heat through medium, high, off and low, and a 3-second hold changes the night light. The night light turns on by itself when the room is dark and dims when you lift the seat.

The ReadyLatch hinge is the other reason to pick it. Kohler says the latch locks the seat in place but lets it lift straight off for cleaning or to adjust the fit. Kohler’s guide says to connect it only to a 120-volt circuit protected by a 15-amp GFCI, to have an outlet within 4 feet of the toilet, and not to use an extension cord. Kohler does not list seat temperatures in these documents.

  • Lowest listed wattage here: 24 watts, per Kohler
  • Seat lifts off the latch for cleaning, per Kohler
  • Night light turns on by itself in the dark
  • Elongated and round-front versions
  • No seat temperatures published in Kohler’s documents
  • One button for heat and light takes some learning
  • Only the round-front K-33728 is linked on this page

Verdict: The pick if you want the seat to come off easily for cleaning and to draw less power than the Bemis.

We link only the round-front K-33728 here. The elongated K-33727 listing did not pass our stock and seller check on October 4, 2026. For an elongated bowl, the Bemis Radiance elongated is linked above.

Best With App Control (Elongated Only)

Kohler PureWarmth Heated Toilet Seat (K-10349)

Elongated only on this page · 3 warmth settings, low, medium and high · PureWarmth app over Bluetooth 4.2, 33 ft range · dual LED: guide light with the lid down, task light with it up; 2 colors, 2 brightness levels · 120/240 V, 0.6 A · one dedicated circuit with Class A GFCI · 60 in. hidden cord · Quiet-Close, Quick-Release, Grip-Tight bumpers · UL 1431 · 1-year limited warranty

The PureWarmth is Kohler’s app-controlled heated seat. Kohler says the PureWarmth app lets you set the warmth and the light brightness around your daily schedule, over Bluetooth with a 33-foot range. It has three warmth settings, a guide light when the lid is down and a task light when it is up, with two colors and two brightness levels. Kohler says the cord is hidden, and at 60 inches it is the longest on this page.

Its electrical requirement is the strictest here. Kohler’s spec sheet calls for one dedicated circuit protected by a Class A GFCI, an outlet at least 6 inches above the floor and within a 32-inch radius of a point 2 inches from the bowl ledge, and no extension cord. It also says not to install it where water may splash or where condensation forms. We link only the elongated K-10349; the round-front K-10515 listing did not pass our stock and seller check on October 4, 2026.

  • Schedule warmth and light from the app, per Kohler
  • Longest cord here: 60 inches, hidden
  • Two light modes, lid up and lid down
  • UL 1431 listed, per the spec sheet
  • Needs a dedicated GFCI circuit, per Kohler
  • Elongated only here; the round-front K-10515 is not linked
  • No temperatures or wattage published; Kohler lists 0.6 A

Verdict: Buy it if you want app scheduling and can give it its own GFCI circuit.

Before You Buy

  1. Find the outlet. Measure from the toilet to the nearest outlet and check that it is GFCI protected. Compare it with the cord: 48 inches (Bemis), 60 inches (Kohler PureWarmth), within 4 feet (Kohler Cachet Heated).
  2. Match the shape. Round or elongated; all three picks use 5-1/2 inch bolt spacing.
  3. Decide how much you care about numbers. Only Bemis publishes seat temperatures and the lowest listed wattage is the Kohler Cachet Heated’s 24 watts; Kohler lists no wattage for the PureWarmth.
  4. Want warm water too? Then you want a bidet seat, which also needs a water connection. See our bidet installation cost guide for what the outlet and supply add.

Installing a Heated Seat

The seat itself goes on like any other seat. Kohler’s guide for the Cachet Heated pushes a folding anchor into each mounting hole and tightens the screws, then you plug it in, and the seat starts on medium heat and medium light. Kohler’s spec sheet says not to plug in the PureWarmth until its instructions tell you to. Bemis’s troubleshooting says to snap off the Stay-Tite nuts as part of installing the Radiance; if the seat is loose, check that step first. The hard part, if there is one, is the outlet. Plumber’s note: if you need a new outlet or circuit, hire an electrician; it is not a plumbing job.

FAQ

Do heated toilet seats need a special outlet?

They need a GFCI-protected outlet near the toilet. Bemis says a GFCI outlet for the Radiance. Kohler says a 120-volt circuit with a 15-amp GFCI and an outlet within 4 feet for the Cachet Heated, and one dedicated circuit with a Class A GFCI for the PureWarmth. Kohler says not to use an extension cord.

How warm does a heated toilet seat get?

Bemis lists the Radiance at 97 °F on low, 100 °F on mid and 104 °F on high. Kohler’s documents for the Cachet Heated and PureWarmth list three settings but no temperatures.

How much electricity does a heated toilet seat use?

The makers list the rating, not the daily use. Bemis rates the Radiance at 55 watts. Kohler rates the Cachet Heated’s heated surface at 24 watts, and lists the PureWarmth at 0.6 amps without a wattage.

Will a heated toilet seat fit my toilet?

Match the shape first: round or elongated. All three picks use the standard 5-1/2 inch bolt spacing. Measure from the center of the seat bolt holes to the front edge of the bowl to tell the shapes apart.

Is a heated seat the same as a bidet seat?

No. A heated seat only warms the seat and plugs into an outlet. A bidet seat also washes, so it also connects to the toilet’s water supply. If you want warm water as well as a warm seat, look at a bidet seat instead.

Bottom Line

Buy the Bemis Radiance for most bathrooms: both shapes, a separate night light button and the only published seat temperatures here. Buy the Kohler Cachet Heated for low power and easy removal, and the Kohler PureWarmth if you want app scheduling and can give it a dedicated GFCI circuit. Whichever you choose, confirm the shape and the outlet first.
