Moen vs InSinkErator Disposal Mount: Will It Fit?

Plumbing Picks is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Quick answer from a licensed plumber: Usually yes, a new Moen will hang on an existing InSinkErator mount. Moen says its Universal Xpress Mount “fits all Moen and most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies,” and InSinkErator’s Quick Lock is a three-screw mount that Waste King lists among 3-bolt flanges. Going the other way, from Moen to InSinkErator, plan to install InSinkErator’s own mount. A Waste King Pro 3-Bolt mount does not work with a Moen, per Waste King.

Swapping an InSinkErator for a Moen? Moen’s mount is made to fit most existing 3-bolt mounts. See the Moen GT50C on Amazon

What Each Maker Says About Fit

MakerMountWhat the maker says fits
MoenUniversal Xpress Mount (marked on all ten models in Moen’s portfolio table)“fits all Moen and most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies”
InSinkEratorQuick Lock (three mounting screws)Built for “fast replacement of existing InSinkErator” disposers
Waste KingEZ Mount adapter 3101AMCAttaches EZ Mount units to “most existing 3-Bolt Mount flanges, including Moen and InSinkErator brand”
Waste KingPro 3-Bolt MountNot reusable for a Moen: “while the mounting systems look similar they are different”

Put together: InSinkErator’s mount is a three-screw mount, Waste King groups it with Moen’s as a “3-Bolt Mount” flange, and Moen says its mount fits “most” existing 3-bolt assemblies. The Moen pages we read do not list which ones, so treat the InSinkErator fit as likely, not guaranteed. The listing for the Moen GXB75C says the same thing in its own words: it “Fits most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies, including many competitor units.”

Swapping in Each Direction

InSinkErator out, Moen in

Leave the InSinkErator mount on the sink and hang the Moen on it if it fits. Moen says most models now include Fast Track, which “uses a snap tool for a quick secure mounting of the assembly.” If the Moen will not seat on the old mount, install the mount that comes with the Moen.

Moen out, InSinkErator in

Plan to change the mount. InSinkErator’s manual asks, “Is the new disposer mounting the same as the old one?” If not, InSinkErator’s replacement guide has you remove the old mount and sink flange, then set its own flange in a 1/2-inch rope of plumber’s putty with the “fiber gasket, backup flange and mounting flange” underneath.

Waste King Pro 3-Bolt out, Moen in

Waste King answers this one directly: “you will need to fully uninstall your existing Waste King disposal and follow the Moen disposal-specific instructions.”

Two Things Besides the Mount

How it switches on. Moen sells continuous-feed and batch-feed disposals. Batch-feed models “are actuated with a stopper” and “turned off when the stopper is removed.” Continuous-feed models need a wall switch or an air switch, per Moen. If your old unit ran from a wall switch, stay continuous-feed; if there is no switch, a batch-feed model or an air switch is the answer.

Room under the sink. Moen tells you to check three measurements against the new model’s spec sheet: top of the disposal to the center of the dishwasher connection, top to the center of the drain connection, and top to bottom. Its portfolio lists these sizes:

Moen modelHPDimensions as Moen lists them
GXP33C / GT33C1/313 3/8″ x 5 3/8″
GXP50C / GT50C1/213 3/8″ x 5 3/8″
GX50C1/213 3/8″ x 7 1/2″
GT75C3/413 3/8″ x 6 1/2″
GX75C3/413 3/8″ x 7 1/2″
GXB75C3/415 3/8″ x 7 1/2″
GX100C116″ x 7 1/2″
EXL100C116″ x 8 3/8″

Moen’s table marks nine of its ten models as continuous feed; the GXB75C’s listing describes batch feed that “operates only when the stopper is engaged.” For the InSinkErator side of the comparison, see our InSinkErator vs Waste King mount guide.

What to Buy

Pick the brand, then the feed type:

When to Call a Licensed Plumber

  • The Moen will not seat on the old mount and the old flange is corroded or stuck in the sink.
  • The new drain or dishwasher connection sits at a different height than your trap.
  • You need a new outlet or switch. That is work for a licensed electrician.

FAQ

Will a Moen disposal fit an InSinkErator mount?

Usually. Moen says its Universal Xpress Mount fits all Moen and most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies, and Waste King counts InSinkErator among 3-bolt mounts. The Moen pages we read do not list which ones, so if it will not seat, use the mount that comes with the Moen.

Will an InSinkErator fit a Moen mount?

Plan on changing the mount. InSinkErator’s manual has you remove the old mount and flange when the new disposer mounting is not the same as the old one.

Can I use my Waste King 3-bolt mount with a Moen disposal?

No. Waste King says the two mounting systems look similar but are different, so remove the Waste King disposal and follow Moen’s instructions.

What is Moen Fast Track?

Moen says Fast Track is used with the Universal Xpress Mount and uses a snap tool for a quick, secure mounting of the assembly. Most Moen models now include it.

Do I need a wall switch for a Moen disposal?

For continuous-feed models, yes, or an air switch. Moen’s batch-feed models run from the stopper instead.

Bottom Line

Moen onto an InSinkErator mount: usually fits, per Moen. InSinkErator onto a Moen mount: change the mount. Moen onto a Waste King Pro 3-Bolt: no, per Waste King. Then match the feed type and check the three height measurements Moen lists.
