Freestanding Tub Fillers

For a chrome freestanding tub, the Delta Trinsic T4759-FL is a 41-inch floor-mount filler with a pressure-balance valve, a swiveling spout and a handshower; it needs Delta’s separate R4700-FL or R4700-FLWS rough-in. The Kohler Purist K-T97328-4-CP is the alternative, and it needs Kohler’s K-97339 mounting block. Both are trim only, so buy the rough-in part too and set it before the floor is finished.

Delta T4759-FL: Trinsic floor-mount trim

Choose Delta T4759-FL when the Trinsic look suits the bath. Delta’s product page (deltafaucet.com) lists a 41-inch overall height, a single-function pressure-balance cartridge, a high-arc spout that swivels 360 degrees and a handshower with double check valves. Delta says the rough-in must be purchased separately.

Skip it if you need a complete one-box installation, a different finish or an arrangement that cannot meet the current rough-in requirements.

The checked standard new Amazon offer showed stock from Pattern Professional and exact T4759-FL model and manufacturer-part fields. Verify the new chrome trim package rather than a recertified or differently finished version.

The 2026 Rev. H specification (media.deltafaucet.com) names R4700-FL or R4700-FLWS as the rough-in; the WS version adds screwdriver stops. We found the R4700-FLWS sold new by Amazon.com: check the Delta R4700-FLWS rough-in on Amazon. Have the installer confirm the combination before the floor is poured or tiled.

Kohler K-T97328-4-CP: Purist trim

Choose Kohler K-T97328-4-CP when the Purist layout and required mounting system suit the bath. The US specification (resources.kohler.com) identifies K-97339 as a required mounting block and says bathtub compatibility varies by application.

Skip it if the floor assembly cannot provide the specified support or the spout and controls do not suit the chosen tub.

The checked standard new Amazon offer showed stock from eFaucets, model T97328-4-CP and manufacturer part K-T97328-4-CP. Keep the CP finish suffix in the order.

The checked maker sheet is dated June 2024. The required mounting block is sold as K-97339-NA: check the Kohler K-97339-NA mounting block on Amazon. Get the current installation documents before the floor layout is finalized.

Check spout outlet height and reach against the tub

Use the actual bathtub drawing and the filler drawing together. A faucet’s overall height does not tell you where water exits relative to the tub rim.

Mark the intended filler location on the floor plan. Check the outlet position, distance inside the bath and whether the water stream will meet the tub where intended.

Include the wall, baseboard and any sloped or thick tub rim in the assessment. A model that looks suitable in an open-room photo may not work beside a particular bath profile.

Our freestanding-tub guide covers related bath and floor considerations. Confirm the pair before the mounting location becomes difficult to change.

Finished-floor depth and support are early decisions

Have the installer coordinate the rough-in with the complete finished-floor build-up. A correct position relative to bare subfloor can become incorrect after underlayment and tile are added.

Use the exact mounting instructions for the proposed floor type. Kohler’s checked sheet specifically warns that ordinary nominal 2×6 lumber does not satisfy its stated wood-support requirement.

That is a model-specific warning, not a universal construction detail for other fillers. Have the support, fixing method and floor assembly assessed for the selected product.

The Delta R4700-FL page (deltafaucet.com) identifies the separate rough-in product. Keep its applicable instructions with the trim instructions rather than installing from the visible fixture dimensions alone.

A handshower rating is not the tub-filling rate

The Delta Rev. H sheet separates a spout flow of up to 10 gpm at 60 psi from a 1.75 gpm handshower rating at 80 psi. Do not use the handshower figure as the bath-fill rate.

Kohler’s checked sheet lists 7 gpm at 45 psi for bath filling. These published figures use different pressure conditions, so they are not a controlled head-to-head speed test.

Ask what flow the installed supply and hot-water system can actually deliver at the desired mixed temperature. A published maximum is not a guaranteed rate in the finished bathroom.

Separate the desired fill time from the chosen finish. A visually suitable faucet can still need a system assessment before it will meet the owner’s expectations.

Estimate fill time with measured assumptions

A basic planning calculation is desired water volume divided by the actual filling flow. For example, a hypothetical 50-gallon fill at a steady measured 5 gpm takes about ten minutes.

That example is arithmetic, not a performance claim for either featured filler. Real filling conditions can change with supply pressure, mixing, restrictions and other water use.

Use the volume you intend to add, allowing for the bath’s intended use and overflow arrangement. Do not automatically treat the tub’s total listed capacity as the required fill volume.

For a large bath, discuss available hot-water delivery with the installer before buying the filler. A faster outlet does not by itself establish that enough suitably tempered water is available.

Plan handshower storage, access and service

Check where the hose rests and how the handshower is returned to its holder. The normal stored position should not obstruct the walking route or place avoidable strain on the hose.

Confirm that the controls can be reached comfortably in the intended layout. A freestanding filler can look centered while leaving awkward access from the bath.

Ask how the selected assembly is serviced and which parts must remain accessible. Keep the maker’s part identification with the bathroom records so later repairs do not depend on appearance alone.

The bath drain is a separate selection. Our bathtub-drain identification guide covers that system; a filler package should not be assumed to include the drain or overflow components.

Commission the selected valve and temperature controls

Have the installer verify hot and cold operation, the appropriate temperature-control arrangement, both outlets and the completed connections under the current instructions.

A single lever is not proof of thermostatic temperature control or of a particular safety function. The Delta product descriptions and specification distinguish options that need exact model and component verification.

The currently linked Delta installation document (media.deltafaucet.com) includes temperature-limit and startup checks. Match its applicability to the supplied assembly rather than transferring an adjustment procedure from another filler.

Do not use either filler as a grab rail or body-support point. Plan separate suitable supports where needed and keep the tall fixture free from loads outside its intended function.

An order checklist before the floor closes

  1. Record the exact trim. Collection, full model, finish and new-condition package.
  2. Name the required rough-in. Compatible model and any separate mounting parts.
  3. Overlay the drawings. Tub rim, outlet, reach, controls, wall and hose path.
  4. Coordinate the floor. Finished build-up, support and approved fixings.
  5. Check water delivery. Actual supply, intended fill volume and hot-water capacity.
  6. Plan completion. Current instructions, testing and future service access.

Have the complete order checked before irreversible floor work begins. Keep a record of any approved substitution and its effect on the layout.

On delivery, compare every model number and finish with the plan. A late switch to a different rough-in or trim can affect more than appearance, so resolve discrepancies before the installer closes the assembly.

Frequently asked questions

Does floor-mount tub filler trim include the rough-in?

Do not assume it does. Delta specifies a separate compatible rough-in, and the Kohler trim requires its named mounting block.

Can overall faucet height establish tub compatibility?

No. Compare the spout outlet, reach, rim profile and complete installed layout.

Is the handshower flow the same as the tub spout flow?

No. The maker specifications list those outlets separately. Check the rating and test conditions for each.

Does the higher published gpm figure prove faster filling?

No. Pressure conditions and the installed water supply affect performance. The listed figures here are not a controlled comparison.

Can I use the filler to support myself getting into the bath?

No. Do not use the filler as a grab rail or body support. Provide a separate suitable support where needed.

How we chose

This document-based comparison makes no hands-on testing claim. We checked exact maker descriptions, Delta’s 2026 Rev. H specification and linked instructions, and Kohler’s June 2024 US sheet. On October 14, 2026, both linked standard new offers showed stock and matching model and manufacturer-part identities. Confirm current package contents, required components and installation documents. Read our selection method and about Plumbing Picks.
