Best Kohler Tub Spout

Measure the copper pipe sticking out of the wall first. For a 5-inch stub and a diverter, pick the Kohler Tempered K-28563 or Pitch K-97089. For a 4-inch stub with a diverter, pick the Tone K-27422. For a short stub and no diverter, pick the Devonshire K-373-S.

A slip-fit spout slides over a smooth copper pipe coming out of the wall and clamps to it, rather than threading on. The single most important number when replacing one is how far that pipe sticks out of the finished wall. Each Kohler drawing gives it, and the four here differ: 5 inches for the Tempered and Pitch, 4 for the Tone and no more than 3-1/4 for the Devonshire. A diverter spout has a knob you pull up to send water to the shower; a nondiverter spout is for a tub-only faucet or a separate diverter.

Kohler Tempered K-28563: diverter spout, 5-inch stub

Choose the Tempered K-28563 for a diverter spout on a copper stub that extends 5 inches. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a diverter spout with a 1/2-inch slip-fit connection, premium metal construction and wall-mount installation. The drawing shows the copper tube extending 5 inches from the finished wall, a 2-1/2-inch wall flange, a 1-1/8-inch maximum hole in the wall with the tube centered, and a 6-3/8-inch reach.

Two figures differ on the sheet: the features call it a 6-inch spout, while the technical table and drawing give 6-3/8 inches of reach; and the drawing labels the tube “1/2-inch OD copper,” while the features say 1/2-inch slip-fit. Nominal 1/2-inch copper pipe has a 5/8-inch outside diameter, which is what the Pitch and Tone drawings call for, so confirm your pipe before buying.

Kohler Pitch K-97089: diverter spout, 6-inch reach

Choose the Pitch K-97089 for a diverter spout matched to Pitch trim. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a 6-inch diverter spout with a 1/2-inch slip-fit connection that coordinates with Pitch bath and shower trim. The drawing calls for a 5/8-inch OD tube extending 5 inches from the finished wall, a hole no larger than 1-1/4 inches with the tube centered, and a 6-inch reach.

Kohler Tone K-27422: diverter spout for a shorter stub

Choose the Tone K-27422 when the copper stub is about 4 inches long. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a diverter spout with a slip-fit connection, a 6-9/16-inch reach and a 1-1/4-inch maximum hole diameter. The drawing calls for a 5/8-inch OD tube extending 4 inches from the finished wall, centered in the hole, and shows a 2-11/16-inch flange.

Its 6-9/16-inch reach is the longest of the four. Kohler lists matching Tone towel bars, rings, hooks and paper holders.

Kohler Devonshire K-373-S: nondiverter spout

Choose the Devonshire K-373-S for a tub without a shower, or where the shower diverter is in the valve. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a nondiverter bath spout with a copper slip-fit connection. The drawing says the 5/8-inch OD tube must extend no more than 3-1/4 inches beyond the finished wall and shows a 4-7/8-inch reach and a 2-1/2-inch flange.

The features call it a 4-5/8-inch spout, while the technical table gives a 4-7/8-inch reach. It is the shortest spout here and needs the shortest stub.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 373-S-CP, polished chrome.

How to measure before you buy

Pull the old spout first; a slip-fit spout is usually held by a set screw on its underside, while a threaded spout unscrews. Measure how far the copper pipe sticks out from the finished wall, and check that it is smooth copper rather than threaded. Then compare to the stub length on the Kohler drawing for the spout you want. If the stub is too long or too short, the spout will not seat against the wall or will not clamp, and the pipe usually has to be cut or extended.

Also check whether your shower uses the spout to divert. If the old spout has a lift knob, you need a diverter spout; if the valve trim has its own diverter, a nondiverter spout is correct. Our slip-on vs threaded tub spout guide explains how to tell the connection type, and our shower diverter guide covers diverters that stop working.

Hole size and the wall flange

The spout’s flange has to cover the hole the pipe comes through. Kohler’s drawings set a maximum hole of 1-1/8 inches for the Tempered and 1-1/4 inches for the Pitch and Tone, with the pipe centered in it. The flanges are 2-1/2 inches across on the Tempered and Devonshire and 2-11/16 inches on the Tone. If the old spout covered a larger or off-center hole, the new one may leave a gap; repair the wall or tile first so the flange can sit flat, and install it as Kohler’s instructions direct.

Because slip-fit spouts clamp to bare copper, a pipe that has been cut too short cannot simply be pushed out farther; it has to be extended or replaced behind the wall.

Matching the rest of the bath

Each spout is part of a Kohler collection; the Tempered and Tone sheets list matching accessories, and the Pitch sheet says it coordinates with Pitch bath and shower trim. If you are replacing only the spout, matching the collection name and finish suffix keeps the look consistent. All four list Kohler’s faucet lifetime limited warranty. How we chose

This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read and rendered Kohler’s spec sheets for the K-28563, K-97089, K-27422 and K-373-S. On October 15, 2026, we checked each linked standard new Amazon offer for model, seller, stock and an add-to-cart button. Kohler’s RGP85556 universal spout was left out because its Amazon offer was temporarily out of stock. Read our selection method and about Plumbing Picks.
