Pick the Kohler Dexter K-5452-ET for low water use: Kohler lists 0.125 gallons per flush, WaterSense and ADA among its codes. Pick the Bardon K-4991-ET for one bowl rated from 0.125 to 1.0 gpf, or the Freshman K-4989-T only when you need a 1.0 gpf siphon-jet bowl to match an existing valve and your code allows it. Either way, the flush valve is sold separately and must match the bowl.

A urinal is a commercial-style fixture: the china bowl is sold separately from the flush valve (flushometer) that feeds it. The flush volume is set by the valve, so the bowl and valve must be matched. Kohler’s sheets say each bowl is designed for its listed water use when installed with a water-saving flushometer.
Kohler Dexter K-5452-ET: 1-pint washout
Choose the Kohler Dexter when water use matters. The K-5452-ET spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a washout urinal at 1 pint, or 0.125 gallons per flush, a 3/4-inch top spud, a 14-3/4-inch extended rim, an anti-backsplash wall, and inlet and outlet spuds and hangers included. It lists EPA WaterSense and California Energy Commission certifications among its codes.
Kohler’s drawing shows the rim lip at 24 inches from the floor for a standard installation and 17 inches maximum for an ADA installation, with the outlet at 17-1/2 inches standard and 9-1/2 inches maximum for ADA. It lists a 2-inch NPT outlet tap and a fixture supply pressure of 25 to 80 psi static.
On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer from Buildcom showed stock with model 5452-ET-0, White.

Kohler Bardon K-4991-ET: one bowl for 0.125 to 1.0 gpf
Choose the Kohler Bardon when you want flexibility in flush volume. The K-4991-ET spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a washout urinal with a 3/4-inch top spud, rated from 0.125 to 1.0 gallons per flush depending on the flushometer, a 14-inch extended rim, and vitreous china. Kohler notes it will replace the older K-4904-ET.
Its codes include WaterSense, the California Energy Commission, ADA, ICC/ANSI A117.1 and CSA B651. Kohler’s drawing shows a 24-inch rim for a standard installation, 17 inches maximum for ADA and 16-7/8 inches maximum for CSA B651, and the sheet says to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions and local codes for flushometer requirements.
On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer for 4991-ET-0 in White from Standard Plumbing Supply showed limited stock. Kohler also lists Black (-7); the black 4991-ET-7 offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock too.

Kohler Freshman K-4989-T: 1.0 gpf siphon jet
Choose the Kohler Freshman for a conventional 1.0-gallon siphon-jet urinal, for example to match an existing 1.0 gpf flush valve. The K-4989-T spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a siphon jet, a 3/4-inch top spud, 1.0 gpf, and inlet and outlet spuds and hangers included, in vitreous china.
Its sheet lists ASME A112.19.2/CSA B45.1 and IAPMO certification, but not WaterSense or ADA. It also says to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions and local codes for flush valve requirements. Local codes can limit urinal flush volume, so check yours before choosing a 1.0 gpf bowl.
The Amazon listing title ends in “.75”; Kohler’s sheet lists a 3/4-inch spud and 1.0 gpf, so we rely on the sheet. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed stock with model 4989-T-0, White.

Washout or siphon jet?
Kohler lists the Dexter and Bardon as washout urinals and the Freshman as a siphon-jet urinal. We do not rank the two flush actions on performance; the practical difference for a buyer is the water each bowl is designed for and the flush valve it needs: 0.125 gpf for the Dexter, 0.125 to 1.0 gpf for the Bardon and 1.0 gpf for the Freshman, per Kohler.
If you are replacing a urinal, check the old flush valve’s rated volume, which is often marked on the valve, and buy a bowl designed for that volume, or plan to change the valve too.
The flush valve is separate
None of these bowls includes a flush valve. Kohler recommends the K-76317 urinal flushometer for the 0.125 gpf Dexter and the K-76319 for the 1.0 gpf Freshman. For the Bardon, choose a valve at the volume you want within its 0.125 to 1.0 gpf range. Match the valve’s rated volume to the bowl.
Kohler lists 25 to 80 psi static fixture pressure for the Dexter. If your building pressure runs high, our pressure regulator guide covers the valve that controls it. For worn commercial flush valves, our Zurn flush valve repair kit guide covers rebuild kits.
Rough-in: heights, spud and outlet
All three urinals take a 3/4-inch top spud for the flush valve and use a 2-inch NPT tap at the outlet, per Kohler’s drawings. Set the waste outlet and wall hangers to the drawing for your exact model; the Dexter drawing gives different outlet heights for standard and ADA installations.
Plan blocking in the wall for the hangers before the wall is closed, and size the trap and drain to your code. Our trap size by fixture guide covers common trap sizes.
Accessible installations
Kohler lists the Dexter with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 among its codes, and its sheet says that for ADA compliance the floor-to-lip height must be 17 inches or less. It notes the product is ADA compliant when installed to the specific requirements of those regulations.
So the bowl alone does not make a restroom accessible; mounting height, clear floor space and the flush valve handle all matter. Follow the accessibility rules that apply to your building.
Cleaning and upkeep
Kohler lists drain treatment (K-23726) as a recommended accessory for the Dexter and Freshman. Keep the outlet and trap clear, and clean the china with a non-abrasive cleaner so the glaze is not scratched.
If a urinal runs on or flushes weakly, the cause is usually in the flush valve, not the bowl; rebuild or replace the valve parts first.
