Choose Moen A726 for a documented 69-inch metal replacement, or Delta U495D-60-PK for a 60-inch nominal stretchable hose. Confirm your hand shower, outlet and holder fit; Delta’s documents disagree on the extended length in the heading.

This guide compares Chrome hose-only replacements from two makers, using their documents and exact Amazon model fields. We did not test flexibility, leaks or service life.
Fixed length or stretchable hose?
| Model | Choose for | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Moen A726 | 69 in. metal double-interlock hose | Match your shower’s replacement-part list |
| Delta U495D-60-PK | 60 in. nominal stretchable hose | Maker title says 80 in.; sheet and features say 82 in. extended |
Both links are for the Chrome hose alone. Neither supplies a new hand shower, a holder or a water connection. If you need those pieces together, start with our handheld shower head guide. Replacing an entire kit is a different purchase from replacing its hose.
Moen A726: a defined 69-inch replacement
Choose the A726 when you want a documented 69-inch metal hose and your shower’s parts list confirms the fit. Moen’s A726-series specification sheet describes a double-interlock spiral metal hose. The current shop page identifies the unsuffixed A726 as Chrome.
The purchase is straightforward when the old system already calls for A726: match that part number, then check that 69 inches serves the places you need to reach. Do not assume a picture of any Moen shower means it uses this particular hose. Our Moen handheld guide includes complete systems whose supplied hoses may differ.
Skip it if you specifically need a stretchable hose or the system lists another replacement. We have not measured its bending resistance, weight or long-term life. Metal construction is a documented specification, not evidence that it is the most flexible or longest-lasting option.
The linked Amazon listing identifies model A726, matching the maker page and sheet. Our October 17, 2026 Creators API check found a New, in-stock buy-box offer sold by Amazon.com. The A726 sheet describes a lifetime limited warranty against leaks, drips and finish defects to the original consumer purchaser; complete current warranty exclusions were not verified.

Delta U495D-60-PK: stretchable metal-covered hose
Choose this Delta when you want a 60-inch nominal hose with documented extension, and its connections suit your shower. Delta’s specification describes stainless steel spiraled over a rubber inner liner, with one conical and one hex all-brass nut. “Metal hose” does not mean there is no flexible liner inside.
There is a visible naming discrepancy: the product-page heading says 60–80 inches, while its features, specification sheet and the opened parts diagram say 60–82 inches. We use 60 inches as the nominal starting length and report the conflict rather than promising that the final two inches solve a reach problem. Confirm a critical extended dimension with Delta before buying.
Skip it if you want a fixed-length hose or need your routine reach to depend on its maximum extension. We did not measure how much force it takes to stretch, how it hangs in a particular enclosure, or whether its holder end fits your existing bracket.
The linked Amazon model field matches U495D-60-PK. Our October 17, 2026 API check found a New, in-stock buy-box offer sold by Amazon.com. Delta’s own product store showed out of stock; availability at those two sellers differs. Its sheet describes limited lifetime parts-and-finish coverage, or five years for commercial users; complete current terms were not verified.

Measure the route you use, not just the old hose
Make a short list of the jobs the hand shower must reach: its normal showering position, the opposite side of the enclosure, or a point needed during cleaning. Compare those routes with the hose’s starting length. This turns “I need a longer hose” into a measurement rather than a guess based on a package photograph.
For a stretchable model, distinguish ordinary reach from the extended figure. The source documents do not tell us how each person will experience that extension or how a particular holder will respond. Our selection advice is to avoid making maximum extension the condition for everyday use.
Also consider where the unused portion will hang. A longer specification can be useful for reach while still leaving a loop in a small enclosure. We have not simulated your layout. Check the available space and the actual hand shower position before choosing between these two formats.
Check the outlet, hand shower and holder separately
A hose joins two connections, but its end also sits near or in a holder. Treat those as separate fit questions. For the Delta, the maker’s own product-page support answers describe standard half-inch connections at both ends. Its conical and hex nuts are documented on the sheet. That does not establish how the cone seats in every third-party holder.
For the Moen, the strongest fit check is the exact shower model’s replacement diagram naming A726. This guide does not turn a generic compatibility phrase into approval for a special fitting. If you have an unidentified hose, take clear photos of both ends and the holder and get the shower maker’s confirmation.
Do not order by Chrome alone. Finish names describe appearance; they do not identify threads, a holder or an entire system. The two linked models are Chrome, but other suffixes and similar-looking hoses can have different lengths or constructions. Check the complete model string in the selected listing.
The old hose is stiff or sticks into the shower
That complaint is about how the hose behaves in a particular space. It is not answered by the word “metal” alone. Moen specifies a metal double-interlock construction; Delta describes a metal spiral over a rubber liner. Neither opened document gives a directly comparable stiffness measurement.
We therefore do not name a flexibility winner. Identify whether you need a different length, a different route or a model-confirmed replacement for a worn part. Then compare the documented dimensions. A promise that either hose will drape perfectly would go beyond our evidence.
The same limit applies to durability. We have no controlled test showing which will survive more bending cycles or outlast the other. The useful evidence here is the exact maker identity, disclosed construction and source documents, alongside the seller and New offer checked for each link.
Leak, damaged fitting or complete kit?
Before ordering, distinguish a damaged hose body from an uncertain connection or a missing component. This page is a shopping guide, not a diagnosis of a leak. If the symptom’s location is unclear, describe it to the maker or a plumber rather than assuming a new hose fixes it.
Follow the instructions supplied for the exact hose and hand shower. We have not verified a single universal tightening or thread-sealing procedure that applies to both picks, so we do not give one. Stop if the fittings do not match, the shower’s mounting parts are damaged or a leak remains.
If the wand, holder and hose all need replacement, compare a complete system instead of adding loosely matched parts. Our Delta handheld shower guide covers complete handheld choices. Nothing here calls for changing a shower valve or adjusting its safety controls.
What to keep with the order
- System model: the hand shower and outlet you already own.
- Replacement number: A726 or U495D-60-PK, including the selected finish.
- Reach: a measured route and a choice between fixed length and extension.
- Holder: confirmation that the selected hose end seats correctly.
- Contents: both recommendations are hose-only purchases.
- Records: keep the receipt and maker documents if you later need warranty support.
A documented replacement is more useful than an unsupported “universal” recommendation. If either fit or reach remains uncertain, resolve that question before ordering the hose.
Frequently asked questions
Which shower hose has a fixed 69-inch length?
Moen lists A726 as a 69-inch double-interlock spiral metal hose. Confirm that A726 is the replacement specified for your shower.
Does the Delta hose extend to 80 or 82 inches?
The U495D-60-PK page heading says 60–80 inches, while its feature text, specification sheet and opened parts diagram say 60–82 inches. Confirm critical reach with Delta rather than relying on the last two inches.
Are these complete handheld shower kits?
No. The linked A726 and U495D-60-PK purchases are hoses; the wand, holder and water outlet are separate.
Will a half-inch shower hose fit every holder?
Thread compatibility and holder fit are separate checks. Delta describes standard half-inch connections, but that does not establish how its conical nut seats in every third-party holder.
Which hose is more flexible or durable?
The opened maker documents do not publish directly comparable stiffness or durability results. We have not performed those tests and do not declare a winner on either measure.
How we chose
We compared maker product pages and specification sheets naming each exact hose, plus Delta’s parts diagram. We checked New Amazon buy-box offers and model fields on October 17, 2026. We selected different hose formats rather than claiming a test-based overall winner. The Delta 80/82-inch naming conflict is disclosed, and complete current warranty exclusions were not verified.
