Best Touchless Kitchen Faucets (2026): Power and Fit

Plumbing Picks is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Quick answer from a licensed plumber: For most kitchens, buy the Delta Essa 9113TL-AR-DST. You can wave a hand within about four inches of it, tap it or use the handle. Delta’s instructions give a sensitivity setting for each sink and counter material, and it runs on AA batteries or C batteries, which Delta says last about three years. If you want to plug it in and keep it working during an outage, the Moen Arbor 7594EW with Moen’s power splitter runs on AC with its batteries as backup. For a thick stone counter, the KRAUS Bolden KSF-1610 takes up to a 3-3/8 in. deck. Every one needs room under the sink for a control box and battery pack.

Our pick for most kitchens: the Delta Essa 9113TL-AR-DST Touch2O with Touchless faucet. Check the Delta Essa on Amazon

A touchless kitchen faucet turns the water on when a sensor sees your hand, so you can start the water with raw chicken or dough on your fingers without grabbing the handle. Under the sink, each one adds a control box with a valve inside, a battery pack and a data cable. That is the part a plumber plans around. This guide compares six sensor faucets from Delta, Moen and KRAUS: how each one turns on, how it is powered, the sink and counter it fits, and how long the electronics are covered. It is a roundup of sensor models only. For regular faucets, see our kitchen faucet picks and pull-down faucet picks. For maker warranties across whole brands, see kitchen faucet brands compared.

From the Delta, Moen and KRAUS documents listed below, read on September 30, 2026. Heights and reach come from each maker’s drawing. Where a maker’s product page gives a different number, the card says so. Moen’s reach is to the outlet; Delta and KRAUS do not say where they measure from. Every linked listing was sold by Amazon.com and in stock when we checked.

Models we checked but did not link

Kohler Crue touchless (22974-2MB). When we checked, the only offer came from a third-party seller with very low stock, so it fails our seller rule. Unbranded sensor faucets. Many search results came from brands with no spec sheet or installation manual we could find, so we skipped them. A touchless faucet has a valve and electronics under the sink, and you want the maker’s parts list when one fails.

How to Choose a Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Sensor style: wave, tap or side sensor

The three makers sense your hand in different ways. Delta’s Touch2O with Touchless senses a hand within about four inches of any part of the faucet except the wand. It also turns on with a tap. Moen’s MotionSense Wave uses one sensor you wave over. KRAUS uses a side sensor that reacts within 6 cm. The handle matters too. Delta and KRAUS sense your hand only while the handle is open, so the handle sets the temperature. Moen’s troubleshooting says its sensor will not work with the handle even slightly open. Delta warns that metal objects in your hand or near the faucet can set it off. Moen says to keep objects at least 8 in. from its sensor. Plumber’s note: if a dish rack or soap pump sits right beside the faucet, plan on Delta’s low sensitivity setting or Moen’s 8 in. clearance.

Batteries or AC power

All six run on batteries out of the box. Delta says AA batteries last about a year and C batteries about three. Moen and Delta call for alkaline batteries, and Moen says no rechargeables. Each maker sells an optional AC adapter. Delta’s needs a three-prong grounded 120V outlet that is not on a switch. Moen’s needs continuous power within 5 ft of the control box, and with its power splitter the batteries take over in an outage. Plumber’s note: the outlet in many sink bases is switched for the disposal. Plugging a faucet adapter into it means the faucet dies when the switch is off. If there is no unswitched outlet, stay on batteries or have an electrician add one.

Room under the sink

Every model adds a control box and a battery pack below the deck. Moen says to check clearance for the control box before you pull the old faucet, and to mount it at least 12 in. above the cabinet floor. Delta has you lay the battery holder on the cabinet floor. KRAUS screws its battery pack to the cabinet wall. Plumber’s note: a disposal, a reverse osmosis filter and a pull-out trash can all fight for that space. Measure the open wall area in the sink base before you buy. Keep the control box up off the floor, where a small leak will not reach it.

Holes, deck thickness and the backsplash

All six mount through one hole. Delta’s Essa takes a 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in. hole and a deck up to 3 in., or 2-1/2 in. with its 10-1/4 in. escutcheon. The Lenta takes 1-5/16 to 1-1/2 in. and 2-1/2 in. Moen calls for a 1-1/2 in. minimum hole and a 2-1/2 in. maximum deck on all three of its models. KRAUS needs a 1-3/8 in. minimum hole and takes up to 3-3/8 in. Delta’s drawings call for at least 2-1/2 in. of clearance to the backsplash. Plumber’s note: a thick stone counter with a sink mounted under it can run past 2-1/2 in. at the faucet hole. Measure from the top of the counter to the underside where the mounting nut will sit. See kitchen faucet hole sizes for hole counts and spacing.

Supply connections

Every faucet here ends in 3/8 in. compression connections. Delta uses its own PEX supply lines and sells RP63263 adapters for 1/2-20 UN or 1/2-14 NPSM stops. Moen labels the hose that goes to the hot stop. Plumber’s note: a sensor faucet’s valve sits in the control box, and its small inlet screens catch whatever comes loose from old stops. If your angle stops are crusty or will not close all the way, replace them before you install the faucet. See our under-sink shut-off valve picks and braided supply line picks.

Flow and the shut-off timer

The Moen models are limited to 1.5 gpm at 60 psi, and the Delta and KRAUS models to 1.8 gpm. Moen’s sheets for the Arbor, Align and Jaslynn say they meet Georgia SB370 requirements. Delta’s faucets shut off after four minutes of running and the KRAUS after three. The Moen documents we read do not give a shut-off time. Filling 3 gallons takes about 2 minutes at 1.5 gpm and about 1 minute 40 seconds at 1.8 gpm, at full rated flow (our arithmetic). That fits inside both timers. For more on state flow limits, see our pull-down faucet guide.

Warranty: the electronics are shorter

The faucet body and finish carry long warranties, but the electronics do not. Delta gives five years on electronic parts (one year commercial) and nothing on batteries. Moen’s instructions cover the leak-free valve, finish and the control box that houses the valve for the original consumer’s lifetime. The electronics box, spout and lenses get five years. KRAUS’s manual covers structure and finish for as long as the original buyer lives in the home, the sprayhead assembly for one year and the cartridge for five years. It does not name the control box. Plumber’s note: write the model number and purchase date inside the sink base. Then a failed control box is a parts order, not a guessing game.

Top Pick: Most Ways to Turn It On

Delta Essa 9113TL-AR-DST Touch2O with Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Hand within 4 in. of the faucet, a tap, or the handle · 6 AA batteries (included) or 6 C (not included); optional 120V AC adapter EP102157 · 1.8 gpm at 60 psi · 16 in. tall, 9-3/8 in. reach on Delta’s drawing · 1 or 3 holes, 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in., escutcheon included · deck up to 3 in. (2-1/2 in. with the escutcheon) · 4-minute auto shut-off · electronics 5 years, parts and finish lifetime limited

Delta’s instructions describe a sensing field that reaches about four inches out from every part of the faucet except the pull-down wand. You can wave a hand near it, tap it, or use the handle. Wave and tap work with the handle left in the on position, and the handle still sets temperature and volume. Delta ships the faucet in high sensitivity and gives two lower settings: low sensitivity, and touchless off, which leaves tap and handle only. To switch, put the handle in the off position and hold the faucet base for six seconds. Delta’s chart matches the setting to the sink: high for stainless sinks and granite counters, low for porcelain or acrylic sinks and quartz, laminate or Corian counters. That chart is the most useful setup advice of any maker here.

Power is six AA batteries (included), which Delta says last about one year, or six C batteries, which last about three years. Delta’s optional EP102157 adapter needs a three-prong grounded 120V outlet, and the instructions say not to use an outlet with a switch. The faucet shuts itself off after running for four minutes. A LED on the base shows blue below 80°F, magenta from 80 to 110°F and red above 110°F, and gives three red flashes when the batteries need replacing. Delta’s spec sheet gives five years on electronic parts (one year commercial) and a lifetime limited warranty on parts and finish. Batteries are not covered. The listing we link is the Arctic Stainless finish, sold by Amazon.

  • Wave, tap or handle, with a touchless-off mode
  • Sensitivity chart matched to your sink and counter material, per Delta
  • C batteries last about three years, per Delta
  • Escutcheon included for a 3-hole sink
  • Shuts off after 4 minutes, so long pot fills restart
  • The AC adapter is sold separately and needs an unswitched, grounded outlet
  • Electronics warranty is 5 years, not lifetime
  • Metal objects held near the faucet can trigger it, per Delta

Verdict: The touchless faucet to buy for most kitchens. It gives you three ways to run it and tells you how to set it for your sink.

Battery Backup on AC Power

Moen Arbor 7594EWBL MotionSense Wave Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Wave over a single sensor, or the handle · 6 AA batteries; optional AC adapter with power splitter 169031 · 1.5 gpm at 60 psi · 15-1/2 in. tall, 7-7/8 in. to the outlet on Moen’s drawing · 1 or 3 holes, 1-1/2 in. minimum · deck up to 2-1/2 in. · 68 in. braided pull-down hose · 1255 Duralast cartridge · electronics box 5 years; leak, drip, finish and control box lifetime limited

Moen’s MotionSense Wave uses one sensor: wave a hand over it to start the water and wave again to stop it. The handle works the usual way. Moen’s sheet lists six AA batteries or an optional AC adapter with a power splitter (169031, sold separately). The splitter matters during an outage. Moen’s troubleshooting says that with the power splitter the faucet keeps working on its batteries until they run down. With the AC adapter alone, you swap the battery holder back in. The outlet must have continuous power, and Moen wants the control box within 5 ft of it. Moen says to use only non-rechargeable alkaline batteries.

Moen says to mount the control box at least 12 in. above the cabinet floor for service, and to keep objects at least 8 in. from the sensor; a soap dispenser also needs 8 in. of clearance. To turn the sensor off, hold a hand over it and turn the closed handle from hot to cold three times; repeat to turn it back on. The supply hoses have filter screens in their ends. Moen says they can come out for cleaning but must go back in to keep the warranty. The warranty in the instructions covers leaks, drips, the finish and the control box that houses the valve for the original consumer’s lifetime, and the electronics box, spout and lenses for five years. Moen’s product page lists a 15.50 in. spout height and a 7.50 in. reach. Its drawing shows 7-7/8 in. to the outlet. We link the Matte Black finish, model 7594EWBL, sold by Amazon.

  • AC power with battery backup through the 169031 splitter, per Moen
  • One wave sensor plus the handle, per Moen
  • Sensor can be turned off with the handle sequence
  • Moen’s sheet says it meets Georgia SB370 requirements
  • 1.5 gpm, the lower of the two flow rates here
  • The AC adapter with splitter is sold separately
  • Moen’s page says the deck plate is sold separately and also lists it as included; check the box
  • Handle mounts on the right side only

Verdict: The pick when you want to plug it in and still have it work during an outage.

Best Spray: ShieldSpray

Delta Lenta 19802TLZ-SP-DST Touch2O with Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Hand within 4 in., a tap, or the handle · 6 AA (included) or 6 C batteries; optional 120V adapter EP102157 · 1.8 gpm at 60 psi · 16-1/4 in. tall (16-3/4 in. with the escutcheon), 9-1/8 in. reach on Delta’s drawing · 1 or 3 holes, 1-5/16 to 1-1/2 in. · deck up to 2-1/2 in. · three-function wand with ShieldSpray · SpotShield finish · electronics 5 years, parts and finish lifetime limited

The Lenta runs on the same Touch2O with Touchless system and the same installation instructions as the Essa. That means the same four-inch sensing field, the same sensitivity modes and the same four-minute shut-off. What changes is the wand and the finish. The Lenta’s wand has three functions: aerated stream, spray and ShieldSpray, which Delta describes as a concentrated jet inside a shield of water that contains splatter. Delta says its SpotShield finish resists water spots and fingerprints.

The Lenta’s hole range is 1-5/16 to 1-1/2 in. and its maximum deck is 2-1/2 in., so it is a little less forgiving than the Essa on a thick counter. Delta’s spec sheet lists the escutcheon as optional and included. Its product page names deck plate RP64070 for 3-hole installs, and the spec sheet drawing shows RP47274. Use the plate in the box. Warranty terms match the Essa: five years on electronics, lifetime limited on parts and finish, no warranty on batteries. The listing we link is Delta’s SpotShield Stainless (SP) finish, sold by Amazon.

  • Three-function wand with ShieldSpray, per Delta
  • Same wave, tap and handle control as the Essa
  • Optional C batteries, about three years per Delta
  • SpotShield finish, per Delta
  • Maximum deck 2-1/2 in., less than the Essa’s 3 in. without its escutcheon
  • 4-minute auto shut-off
  • Delta’s page and spec sheet give different deck plate part numbers
  • Electronics warranty is 5 years

Verdict: The Delta to pick if you scrub pans in the sink and want the stronger spray mode.

Pre-Rinse Spring Style

Moen Align 5923EWBL MotionSense Wave Pre-Rinse Spring Kitchen Faucet

Wave sensor or handle · 6 AA batteries; optional AC adapter with power splitter 169031 · 1.5 gpm at 60 psi · 22-1/2 in. tall on Moen’s drawing (21.75 in. on Moen’s product page) · 10 in. reach · single hole, 1-1/2 in. minimum (optional 3-hole escutcheon 141002) · deck up to 2-1/2 in. · spout rotates 100 degrees · electronics box 5 years; leak, drip, finish and control box lifetime limited

This is the touchless version of Moen’s pre-rinse spring faucet: an open coil spout with the wand parked on a short arm. It uses the same MotionSense Wave sensor, battery holder and optional 169031 power splitter as the Arbor, and the same warranty language. Moen’s sheet adds a pause feature that stops the water as the wand passes over the counter top when you fill a pot outside the sink. The spout rotates 100 degrees, not a full circle.

Check the height first. Moen’s drawing shows 22-1/2 in. from the deck to the top of the coil, and its product page says 21.75 in. Plan on the taller figure. The reach is 10 in., the longest of the six faucets here. Moen’s instructions call for at least 8 in. of clearance between the faucet and any object for best sensor operation. The sheet says it installs through one hole, with Moen’s 141002 escutcheon sold separately for a 3-hole sink. We link the Matte Black finish, model 5923EWBL, sold by Amazon. For non-touchless spring faucets, see our pull-down kitchen faucet picks.

  • 10 in. reach, the longest here
  • Pause as the wand passes over the counter, per Moen
  • Same AC-with-battery-backup option as the Arbor
  • Moen’s sheet says it meets Georgia SB370 requirements
  • 22-1/2 in. tall on Moen’s drawing; check the cabinet or shelf above
  • Spout turns 100 degrees, not 360
  • 3-hole escutcheon sold separately
  • 1.5 gpm

Verdict: The pick for an open, pro-style look with touchless control, if nothing hangs low over the sink.

Traditional Look in Bronzed Gold

Moen Jaslynn 87618EWBZG MotionSense Wave Kitchen Faucet

Wave sensor or handle · 6 AA batteries; optional AC adapter with power splitter 169031 · 1.5 gpm at 60 psi · 16-3/8 in. tall, 7-5/8 in. to the outlet on Moen’s drawing · 1, 2, 3 or 4 holes, 1-1/2 in. minimum · deck up to 2-1/2 in. · 68 in. braided hose · 1255 Duralast cartridge · electronic operation 5 years; leaks, drips and finish lifetime limited

The Jaslynn is the traditional-style MotionSense Wave faucet, and the BZG suffix is Bronzed Gold on Moen’s parts list. Moen’s 04/26 spec sheet lists the same six AA batteries or optional 169031 AC adapter with power splitter, a 1255 Duralast cartridge and 1.5 gpm. It installs through one to four holes, with one hole for a soap dispenser. Moen’s product page adds a Power Boost button and four spray settings. The page lists a 16.12 in. spout height and 7.65 in. reach. The drawing shows 16-3/8 in. overall and 7-5/8 in. to the outlet.

The warranty on the spec sheet is lifetime limited against leaks, drips and finish defects for the original consumer, and five years against electronic operation defects. Commercial use drops those to five years and one year. Moen’s sheet says it is certified to IAPMO Green and meets CalGreen and Georgia SB370 requirements. The listing we link is model 87618EWBZG, sold by Amazon. Moen’s parts list confirms BZG is Bronzed Gold; check that the model number ends in BZG before you buy. For non-touchless gold faucets, see our kitchen faucet picks.

  • Bronzed Gold finish, the only warm metal finish in this list
  • Installs on 1 to 4 holes, per Moen
  • Power Boost button, per Moen’s product page
  • Same AC-with-battery-backup option as the other Moens
  • Handle mounts on the right side only, per Moen
  • No instruction sheet was posted on Moen’s product page when we checked
  • 1.5 gpm
  • Electronic operation warranty is 5 years

Verdict: The pick when you want a gold, traditional faucet with a wave sensor.

Thickest Counters, Manual Switch

KRAUS Bolden KSF-1610SFSMB Touchless Sensor Kitchen Faucet

Side sensor (handle must be open) · 4 AA batteries; optional AC adapter (KRAUS part KP27187) · 1.8 gpm at 60 psi · 18-3/4 in. tall, 6-1/4 in. spout height, 8-5/8 in. reach · 1 hole, 1-3/8 in. minimum; 3-hole with optional deck plate DP02 · deck up to 3-3/8 in. · 3-minute auto shut-off · coin-slot switch for manual use · KRAUS Limited Lifetime Warranty (sprayhead 1 year, cartridge 5 years)

KRAUS puts the sensor on the side of the body. Its manual says to turn the handle to full on, then wave a hand within 6 cm of the sensor, which is about 2-3/8 in. (our arithmetic). The sensor works only when the handle is in the on position, and the water shuts off after three minutes of continuous flow. A coin-slot switch on the control box turns the faucet into a regular mechanical faucet. KRAUS says the sensor works during power outages because it runs on batteries. Four AA batteries come in a battery pack that screws to the cabinet wall with the molly anchor provided, using a 1/4 in. drill bit. When the sensor flashes ten times, slowly, the batteries are spent.

The KRAUS takes the thickest counter of the six: up to 3-3/8 in., through a hole of at least 1-3/8 in. It is 18-3/4 in. tall with an open coil spout and an 8-5/8 in. reach. KRAUS says the height fits under most cabinets. The manual’s warranty covers structure and finish for as long as the original buyer lives in the home. The sprayhead assembly and hoses get one year, and the cartridge five years. The manual does not list a separate term for the control box. KRAUS lists an AC adapter as an optional part, KP27187. The listing we link is Spot-Free Stainless with Matte Black, sold by Amazon.

  • Up to 3-3/8 in. deck thickness, the most here
  • Coin-slot switch makes it a regular faucet, per KRAUS
  • Side sensor, which KRAUS says helps prevent accidental starts
  • Battery operation, no outlet needed
  • Sprayhead assembly warranty is 1 year, per the manual
  • Spout swivels 180 degrees, per KRAUS; the Deltas turn 360
  • 3-minute auto shut-off, the shortest here
  • The 6 cm sensing distance means your hand must come close

Verdict: The pick for a thick stone counter, or if you want a switch that turns the sensor off for good.

Before You Buy

  1. Measure the sink base. You need wall space for a control box and a battery pack, clear of the disposal and any filter.
  2. Check the deck thickness. Moen and the Delta Lenta stop at 2-1/2 in. The Delta Essa takes 3 in. without its escutcheon, and the KRAUS 3-3/8 in.
  3. Decide on power. Batteries need no outlet. For AC, you need an unswitched outlet: Delta wants it grounded, and Moen wants it within 5 ft of the control box.
  4. Check what sits by the faucet. Soap pumps, dish racks and pot fillers in the sensing zone can trigger a sensor. Moen asks for 8 in. of clearance.
  5. Check the height under cabinets. The Moen Align is 22-1/2 in. tall on Moen’s drawing and the KRAUS 18-3/4 in.

Installing a Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Mount the faucet, then the control box

The faucet mounts like any single-hole faucet. Feed the body and its data cable through the hole and tighten the mounting nut from below. KRAUS says not to overtighten its mounting screws. Then mount the control box and plug in the data cable. KRAUS warns that if the connections are not made properly, the sensor will not work. Moen says to confirm that the supply hoses and data cable reach the control box before you fix it in place. Last, connect the battery pack. See how to install a faucet for the basic swap.

Flush the lines before the first use

Debris is the first thing that stops a sensor faucet. Delta says to put a bucket under the valve outlet tube and open the supply stops slowly with the handle fully open and mixed. After 30 seconds, close the stops. KRAUS says to remove the spray head and run hot and cold for at least one minute each. Moen’s hose-end filter screens can come out for cleaning, but Moen says they must go back in to keep the warranty.

Set it up for your sink

On the Delta faucets, pick the sensitivity mode from Delta’s chart: high for stainless sinks and granite, low for porcelain, acrylic, quartz, laminate or Corian. Put the handle in the off position and hold the base for six seconds to change modes. On the Delta and KRAUS faucets, the sensor works only with the handle open, so leave the handle at the mix you use most. On the Moen, close the handle fully, then pass a hand over the sensor to start and stop the water.

When it turns on by itself, or not at all

Delta lists metal objects, items near the faucet and the four-minute shut-off as the usual causes of unexpected starts and stops. It says to move your hands out of the sensing zone for at least three seconds before you reach back in. Moen’s troubleshooting says a blinking light means low or dead batteries, and that the sensor will not work with the handle slightly open. KRAUS says ten slow flashes mean the batteries are spent. If the water runs weak, Moen and KRAUS both point to clogged filter screens or filter washers first.

When to call a pro

Plumber’s note: the faucet itself is a normal faucet swap if your stops work and the deck fits. Call a plumber if the angle stops will not shut off, the supply pipes are corroded, or the sink has to come out. Call an electrician, not a plumber, if you want AC power and there is no unswitched outlet in the sink base. See what a faucet install costs for what goes into the labor.

FAQ

Do touchless kitchen faucets need an outlet?

No. Every faucet here runs on batteries: six AA for the Delta and Moen models, four AA for the KRAUS. Each one also takes an optional AC adapter. Delta says its adapter needs a three-prong grounded 120V outlet that is not on a switch, and Moen says its outlet must have continuous power within 5 ft of the control box.

How long do the batteries last in a touchless faucet?

Delta says about one year on AA batteries and about three years on C batteries, based on typical use. The Moen and KRAUS documents we read do not give a figure. Moen and Delta both call for alkaline batteries, and Moen says not to use rechargeables.

Does a touchless faucet work when the power goes out?

On batteries, yes. KRAUS says its sensor keeps working in an outage. Moen says a faucet on its AC adapter with the power splitter keeps running on the batteries until they run down. With the adapter alone, you swap the battery holder back in. Delta says to make sure the adapter is not on a switched outlet.

Can you turn off the sensor on a touchless faucet?

Yes. On the Delta faucets, put the handle in the off position and hold the base for six seconds to step through high sensitivity, low sensitivity and touchless off. On the Moen faucets, hold a hand over the sensor and turn the closed handle from hot to cold three times. The KRAUS has a coin-slot switch on its control box for manual use.

Will a touchless faucet fit my sink?

Most will. All six install through one hole, and each takes a plate for a 3-hole sink; some include it and some sell it separately. The hole sizes are 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in. for the Delta Essa, 1-5/16 to 1-1/2 in. for the Lenta, 1-1/2 in. minimum for the Moen models and 1-3/8 in. minimum for the KRAUS. The deck limit is 2-1/2 in. for the Moen models and the Lenta, 3 in. for the Essa without its escutcheon and 3-3/8 in. for the KRAUS. You also need room under the sink for a control box and battery pack. See kitchen faucet hole sizes.

Bottom Line

The Delta Essa 9113TL-AR-DST is the touchless faucet to buy for most kitchens: wave, tap or handle, a sensitivity mode for your sink, and AA or C batteries. The Moen Arbor 7594EW is the one to plug in with battery backup, and the Delta Lenta adds a stronger spray. The Moen Align gives a pro-style spring spout if the cabinet clears it. The Moen Jaslynn is the gold, traditional option, and the KRAUS Bolden KSF-1610 fits the thickest counters and has a manual switch. Measure the sink base for the control box, check the deck thickness, and flush the lines before you use it.
