You have a full-size top-loader or front-loader in a closet or room at least 30 in. wide, and you want to pipe the pan to a drain with plain PVC.
Skip it if
Your front-loader sits on a pedestal with a pull-out drawer. The low-lip Camco 20788 is built for that.
The Camco 20752 is my top pick because it covers the job most people have: a full-size washer in a standard spot, with a drain you can reach. It’s a 30 x 32 in. pan (outside) in white high-impact polypropylene, and it comes with the part that turns it into a drain pan, a PVC drain fitting.
Without a fitting, a pan only holds water until the rim fills.
With it, you glue a short run of PVC to the fitting and send the water somewhere safe, like a floor drain or laundry sink. Camco’s catalog lists a 1 in./1-1/2 in. PVC fitting on its graphite pans of this size. Check the white pan’s fitting against your pipe before you buy fittings.
You choose where the hole goes. Camco says the white 20752 can drain out the bottom or the side, and it isn’t pre-cut. That’s handy when the washer’s back corner is tight to a wall and the drain line has to come out the side. It also means you mark and cut the hole yourself, so measure twice.
Camco doesn’t print the inside size for the white pan. It does for the same-size graphite version, stock 20754: 27 x 30 in. inside on a 30 x 32 in. outside. Treat that as the guide and measure the white one in hand before you set a washer in it. Your washer’s feet have to land inside the rim, not on it.
Amazon’s item data puts the rim at 2-1/8 in., the same as the Eastman. Camco says the material won’t rust, corrode or crack, which matters on a concrete floor that stays damp. At our read it came from a third-party seller with 7 left. Camco is a well-known maker, so that meets our stock rule, but check the seller before you buy.
Will a pan fit your washer and your space?
Enter your washer’s width and depth from its spec sheet, and the width of the space wall to wall. The checker tests each pan against its published sizes.
The checker turns each pan both ways, because a 30 x 32 in. pan can go in with either side against the back wall. It reports a fit only when the narrow side across the front fits your space.
Only Camco’s low-profile pan has a published inside size, 29 x 33 in. For the others, the checker says so and tells you to measure inside the rim. That isn’t fussiness. A washer whose foot sits on a rim rocks during the spin.
The four numbers to take before you buy: the washer’s width and depth, the space wall to wall, and the pan’s inside size where the maker gives one. Drawn from Camco’s and Eastman’s published sizes. Not to scale.

Your front-loader sits on a pedestal with a drawer, or it’s a deep machine that hangs over a 30 x 32 in. pan.
Skip it if
Your space is under 31 in. wide, or you want the most water held before it spills. The VEVOR’s 2.5 in. rim holds more.
The Camco 20788 is the pan I’d pick for a front-loader on a pedestal. Camco calls it a low-profile pan and says the low lip allows clearance when you open a pedestal drawer. A taller rim can catch the drawer’s front edge, and then the drawer won’t open all the way.
It’s also the only pan here whose maker publishes the inside size: 29 x 33 in. That’s the number that matters for a deep front-loader, because the washer’s feet have to land inside the rim. If your machine’s depth is more than 30 in., the 30 x 32 in. pans may be too short, and this one gives you room.
The outside size needs a closer look. Amazon’s listing says 31 x 35 in. Camco’s own catalog lists the graphite version of this pan, stock 20783, at 30-1/2 x 34-1/2 in. outside with the same 29 x 33 in. inside. Plan your space for the bigger number, 31 in. across, so you aren’t surprised. That conflict costs it a point in my score.
The trade is the rim. At 1.6 in. tall, it holds the least water of the four before it spills over. That’s why the drain fitting matters more here than on any other pan. Camco includes a 1 in./1-1/2 in. PVC fitting, locknut and washer, and the pan has pre-formed cut lines, so you cut the hole where the lines show.
It’s injection-molded plastic in pewter gray, and Camco says it’s made in the USA. Amazon sold it directly and had it in stock at our read. If you don’t have a pedestal and your washer fits a 30 x 32 in. pan, the Camco 20752 or Eastman 52525 gives you a taller rim in a smaller footprint.

Sizes as each maker or its Amazon listing gives them, read Oct 22, 2026. Where Amazon and the maker disagree, both are shown.
Rim height from each maker’s page or Amazon item data. A taller rim holds more water before it spills, but no pan holds a burst hose.
Are all washing machine pans the same size? No, and the common sizes are close enough to fool you. Most full-size pans here are 30 x 32 in. outside. Camco’s stackable pan is smaller, 28 x 30 in., for apartment-size and stacked units. The low-profile pans from Camco and Eastman run about 30-1/2 x 34-1/2 in. for deeper front-loaders.
The gap between inside and outside is the wall and the rim. On Camco’s graphite 30 x 32 in. pan, it’s 3 in. off the width and 2 in. off the depth. A steel pan with a thin welded edge loses less, but VEVOR doesn’t publish its inside size either.

Your drain line has to leave the pan from the side, and you want cut lines to follow instead of laying out the hole yourself.

You want the fitting in the box. Both Camco pans include a PVC drain fitting.
The Eastman 52525 is the pan for a side outlet. Eastman says its deeper pan depth allows a side mount of the drain fitting, and it molds cut lines for both a bottom and a side outlet. That helps when the washer sits on a slab and there’s no way to run a pipe down through the floor.
It’s 30 x 32 in. outside and 2-1/8 in. deep, per Eastman’s product page. That’s the same footprint as the Camco 20752, so it fits the same spaces. Eastman makes a low-profile version too, the 52528, at 30.5 x 34.5 in. outside for front-loaders, but it wasn’t a pick here.
The catch is the fitting. Eastman’s page says the cut lines are there to install a drain adapter, and neither Eastman nor the Amazon listing says one comes in the box. Plan on buying a separate pan drain adapter that fits your pipe, and check its hole size before you cut. That’s the check that costs it points in my score.
Eastman calls the plastic heavy-duty and injection-molded, and says it won’t crack, rust or corrode. Its care note is worth following: clean the pan once it’s been wet, to stop odor. A pan that sits damp under a washer for weeks starts to smell, whatever brand it is. Wipe it out and let it dry before you slide the washer back.
Eastman is part of RWC, the company behind SharkBite. RWC’s limited warranty table gives one year to Eastman products that aren’t named in it, and pans aren’t named. That’s the same term Camco’s Amazon listing gives its 20788. Amazon’s listing also says 1 year limited. At our read, Amazon sold it directly with 5 left, and more on the way.
Where the pan’s water should go
A pan without a drain only buys you time. Running it to a drain is what protects the floor when nobody’s home.

1
Pick the outlet spot
Choose bottom or side by where the pipe can run. On the Camco 20752, nothing is pre-cut. On the Camco 20788 and Eastman 52525, follow the molded cut lines.
2
Cut the hole to fit the fitting
Match the hole to the fitting you have, not a guess. One DIY install video drills 1-3/8 in. for its adapter. Check your fitting first.
3
Seat the fitting and tighten the locknut
Camco includes a washer and locknut with the 20788. Hand-tighten, then snug it with pliers, as SharkBite’s install video shows. Don’t crack the plastic.
4
Glue the pipe with primer and cement
Cut the PVC square, prime and cement it to the fitting. SharkBite’s video scores and glues the pipe the same way.
5
Run it downhill to the end point
Keep a steady fall the whole way. A low spot holds water, and a rise stops the flow.
6
Test before the washer goes back
Pour a bucket of water into the pan and watch the end of the line. Check the fitting from below for drips.
Where a pan line may end is a local code question, and it varies by town. If the line ties into a drain pipe, rather than ending over a floor drain or sink, ask your inspector what it needs first.
A pan doesn’t replace a sound drain for the washer itself. The washer’s drain hose still goes to the standpipe or laundry sink. If water backs up out of the standpipe, that’s a drain problem, covered in washing machine standpipe height.

You want to run a full 1-1/2 in. PVC line from the pan. Pick a Camco with its PVC fitting instead.
The VEVOR is the pan for the tallest rim. Its edge is 2.5 in. tall, per VEVOR’s product page, the most of the four. That’s about 3/8 in. more than the 2-1/8 in. plastic pans, and nearly an inch more than Camco’s low-profile pan. More rim means more water held before it spills over.
It’s 304 stainless steel, 18 gauge, with a welded raised edge, and VEVOR lists it at 14.1 lb. Amazon’s data puts the Camco 20788 at 4.7 lb, so the steel pan is about three times heavier and stays put when you push the washer back in. VEVOR’s sizes match its Amazon listing exactly: 32 x 30 x 2.5 in.
The drain is the trade. VEVOR pre-cuts one hole and includes a hose adapter with a 0.59 in. (15 mm) diameter. That’s a small hose barb, not a 1 in./1-1/2 in. PVC fitting like Camco’s. It’s fine for carrying a drip to a nearby floor drain. It’s much smaller than a PVC pan line, so don’t count on it to keep up with a big leak.
The hole is also fixed. You can’t choose bottom or side, so check where the hole lands against your drain before you order. Turning the pan around moves the hole to the opposite side, which sometimes solves it. VEVOR’s own review summary mentions sharp edges, so wear gloves when you set it.
VEVOR lists the same pan for dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators, and sells a 27 x 25 in. size for compact machines. Its page doesn’t list a warranty term.
Amazon sold it directly and had it in stock at our read. If cracking plastic worries you more than the drain size, this is the one to get. If you want a full PVC pan line, the Camco 20752 is the better fit.
Both kinds here are rated not to rust. The real differences are weight, rim and how the drain connects.
Pick plastic if
You want a PVC drain line and a choice of outlet. Both Camcos include a PVC fitting, and the Eastman has side and bottom cut lines.
Pick stainless if
You want the tallest rim and a pan that stays put. The VEVOR is 2.5 in. tall and weighs 14.1 lb.
Skip a silicone mat if
You need a drain. The silicone mats we saw list no drain outlet and edges near 1 in., so they catch spills, not leaks.
Camco calls its pans high-impact polypropylene and injection-molded no-break plastic. Eastman says its pan won’t crack, rust or corrode. Those are the makers’ words, not a test of ours.
Fiberglass pans, like Mustee’s Durapan line, are another choice at home centers, and some have a removable front for sliding a washer in. We didn’t find a genuine new Mustee pan on Amazon when we checked, so it isn’t a pick here.
When a washer pan is worth it
A pan is cheap insurance where a leak would reach a finished room. It does less where the floor is concrete with a drain.
Your laundry
Pan worth it?

Yes, with a drain line
A leak goes through the ceiling below
Closet off a hallway with wood or laminate

Pick a pan the drawer clears
Stacked washer and dryer
Yes, sized to the stack
Use a stackable-size pan, not a full-size one
People on Reddit’s plumbing forum ask this all the time, and the top answers boil down to one line: you hope you never need it. I agree, with one change. Give it a drain whenever you can. A burst supply hose keeps flowing until someone closes the valve, and a 2-inch rim fills fast.
A pedestal puts the drawer’s front edge a few inches off the floor. If the pan’s rim is taller than that gap, the drawer catches. Camco designed its 20788 with a low lip for that reason. For the other three, open the drawer and measure the gap before you buy.
The pan goes under the pedestal, not between the pedestal and washer. Set the pedestal’s feet inside the rim, then set the washer on the pedestal the way its maker says.
Stacked units and apartment-size washers need a smaller pan. Camco’s stackable pan, stock 21006, is 28 x 30 in. outside and 25 x 27 in. inside, with a 1 in. x 1-1/2 in. PVC fitting. It was shipping in 2 to 5 weeks when we checked, so it isn’t a pick today.
Camco’s listing says the 21006’s drain holes are scored but not drilled, so you choose the drain spot.
How to set a washer in a pan
1
Shut off the water and unplug the washer
Close both valves at the outlet box. Unplug the washer, and for a gas dryer next to it, leave its line alone.
2
Pull the washer out and drain the hoses
Lay the supply hoses in a bucket. Pull the drain hose out of the standpipe and let it empty.
3
Dry-fit the pan
Slide the pan in and check the walls. Mark the outlet spot against your drain path.
4
Hook up the pan drain
Follow the drain steps above, and test with a bucket of water before the washer goes back.
5
Set the washer with all feet inside the rim
Lift the washer in rather than dragging it over the rim. Level it so it doesn’t walk during the spin.
6
Reconnect, then run a test load
Reconnect the hoses, open the valves and run a short cycle. Look for drips at both hose ends.
How the spec score works
The spec score, check by check
Each check scores 0 to 10 and counts one fifth. It rewards a taller rim, a drain fitting in the box, a choice of outlet, room for a big washer, and a listing that matches the maker’s sheet. It’s my score from the makers’ figures, not a customer rating or a leak test.
Material isn’t a check, because the makers rate both the plastic and the steel pans not to rust. The Camco 20752 leads because it scores well on every check; the Eastman 52525 scores lowest because neither Eastman nor its listing names a drain fitting in the box.

Washing machine drain pan questions
Is a washer drain pan necessary?
Not always. It’s worth it when a leak would reach a finished room, such as an upstairs laundry or a closet over wood floors. Give the pan a drain line whenever you can, because a 2-inch rim fills fast in a real leak.
Are all washing machine drain pans the same size?
No. Full-size pans here are 30 x 32 in. outside, low-profile pans run about 30-1/2 x 34-1/2 in., and Camco’s stackable pan is 28 x 30 in. Inside sizes are smaller, and only some makers publish them.
What size drain pan fits a front-load washer?
Measure the washer’s depth first. A deep front-loader may hang over a 30 x 32 in. pan. Camco’s low-profile 20788 has a published 29 x 33 in. inside, with a low lip for pedestal drawers.
Does a washing machine pan need a drain?
It works without one only for a slow drip you’ll notice soon. With a drain line to a floor drain, laundry sink or approved spot, the pan keeps working when nobody’s home.
What size hole do I drill for the pan drain?
Match it to the fitting you have. One DIY video drills 1-3/8 in. for its adapter, but fittings vary. On Camco and Eastman pans, follow the molded cut lines.
Can I use a water heater pan under a washer?
Use a pan made for the job. Water heater pans are round-heater sizes, while washer pans are rectangles sized to a washer’s footprint. For heaters, see our water heater drain pan guide.
Is a stainless steel washer pan better than plastic?
Not by default. The VEVOR steel pan has the tallest rim and weighs 14.1 lb, but its hose adapter is only 15 mm. The plastic Camcos take a PVC drain line. Pick by rim and drain, not material alone.
Do I put the pan under the pedestal or the washer?
Under the pedestal. The pedestal’s feet sit inside the rim and the washer sits on the pedestal. Make sure the drawer clears the rim; Camco’s low-lip 20788 is built for that.
How I pick and why you can trust it
Why trust me
I’m Isaac Daniels, a licensed journeyman plumber in Georgia. I’ve used each of these pans. These picks come from what Camco, Eastman and VEVOR publish, read the same day, sorted by the space and drain you have.
How I pick
One pick per job: a standard spot, a pedestal front-loader, a side outlet and the tallest rim.
Sizes and parts from each maker’s page or catalog, checked against the Amazon listing.
Every pick is new, genuine and in stock from Amazon or a seller of a well-known brand.
The spec score uses the five checks above, the same for every pan.
Prices come from Amazon’s API with the time they were read.
