For a 54 × 30 alcove, pick the Swiss Madison Voltaire (about 14-3/4 to 15 inches of soak, left or right drain) or the Ivy if you want armrests and can accept a 13-inch soak. For a 32-inch-deep alcove, the Kingston Aqua Eden VTAM5432L22D fits. Order the right drain side and buy the drain separately.

This guide compares 54-inch alcove bathtubs for short bathrooms where a standard 60-inch tub will not fit.

| Tub | Size (L × W × H) | Soaking / water depth | Weight / notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swiss Madison Voltaire SM-AB557 | 54 × 30 × 22 in. | 15 in. on the sheet; 14.7 in. on the product page | 57.3 lb; built-in apron |
| Swiss Madison Ivy SM-AB520 | 54 × 30 × 22 in. | 13 in. | 60 lb; apron, integrated armrests |
| Kingston Aqua Eden VTAM5432L22D | 53-15/16 × 32 × 21-7/16 in. | 13-3/4 in. to overflow; 42.3 gal | 32 in. deep front to back |
A 54-inch tub fits a short alcove where a standard 60-inch tub will not. That can be a small bathroom or a remodel where the walls cannot move. Measure the finished opening between the side walls before you shop; the tub’s flange and the wall finish both take up space.
Swiss Madison Voltaire SM-AB557: apron front, deepest listed soak
Choose the Swiss Madison Voltaire for the simplest 54 × 30 apron tub with the deepest listed soak here. The Voltaire spec sheet (images.salsify.com) lists fiberglass-reinforced acrylic, a left-hand drain, an integrated flange and a built-in apron, 57.3 pounds, and 54 × 30 × 22 inches, with three-sided alcove installation.
The sheet lists a 15-inch soaking depth, while the current product page (swissmadison.com) lists 14.7 inches, so plan on about 14-3/4 inches. The product page says the faucet and drain are not included.
Swiss Madison lists the same tub with a right-hand drain on a separate product page (swissmadison.com); Amazon lists it as SM-AB558. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com for SM-AB557 (left drain) showed stock, and SM-AB558 (right drain) showed limited stock.

Swiss Madison Ivy SM-AB520: armrests and a slip-resilient floor
Choose the Swiss Madison Ivy if integrated armrests matter more to you than depth. The Ivy spec sheet (images.salsify.com) lists fiberglass-reinforced acrylic, integrated armrests, a three-sided flange, a built-in apron, a left-hand drain and a slip-resilient finish, at 60 pounds and 54 × 30 × 22 inches.
The trade-off is depth: Swiss Madison lists a 13-inch soaking depth, about 1-3/4 inches less than the Voltaire. The product page (swissmadison.com) lists the left-hand drain version linked here.
On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed an add-to-cart button and a delivery date with model SM-AB520; the page did not show a separate in-stock line.

Kingston Aqua Eden VTAM5432L22D: 54 × 32 for a deeper alcove
Choose the Kingston Aqua Eden VTAM5432L22D if your 54-inch alcove is 32 inches deep. The Kingston product page (kingstonbrass.com) lists fiberglass- and resin-reinforced acrylic, three-wall alcove installation with a tile flange, an anti-skid floor, a left-hand drain, an overflow hole and no faucet drillings, so a wall-mounted tub faucet is expected.
Kingston lists 53-15/16 × 32 × 21-7/16 inches overall, a 13-3/4-inch water depth to the overflow and a 42.3-gallon capacity. The spec drawing (media.kingstonbrass.com) shows the drain about 11-7/16 inches from the drain-end edge and a 2-inch drain opening.
On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed an add-to-cart button and a delivery estimate with model VTAM5432L22D; the page did not show a separate in-stock line.

Measure the alcove and the drain side
Measure the opening between the finished side walls at the floor and again higher up; walls are not always parallel. A 54-inch tub needs the opening to suit the tub’s length and flange, so compare it with the maker drawing for your exact model.
Check front-to-back depth too. The Swiss Madison tubs are 30 inches; the Kingston is 32. A 32-inch tub will not fit a 30-inch alcove.
Drain side matters most. Stand facing the tub opening: if the drain end is on your left, you need a left-hand drain. Moving the drain to the other end means opening the floor and rerouting the trap.
The drain, overflow and faucet are separate
None of these three lists a drain as included. Swiss Madison says the faucet and drain are not included, and Kingston lists compatible drain models separately. Buy a bath waste and overflow that fits the tub’s drain and overflow openings, and match the finish to your faucet.
Our bathtub drain types guide explains drain styles, and our overflow gasket guide covers the overflow seal. For the faucet, our wall-mount tub faucet guide covers wall-mount options, and our tub spout guide explains spout connections.
Installing a small alcove tub
The Swiss Madison installation guide says to observe all plumbing and building codes, build framing to suit the tub, keep access to the drain connections in mind, and install the rough plumbing before setting the tub. It also says a mixing valve may be required by local code and recommends a licensed professional.
Plan an access panel to the drain if you can; our access panel guide covers sizing. Fill the tub and check the drain and overflow for leaks before closing the wall or tiling over the flange.
54-inch vs 60-inch: when the short tub makes sense
Pick a 54-inch tub only when the alcove truly will not take a 60-inch one. A 60-inch tub gives more room to stretch out, and most of the tubs we compare elsewhere are 60 inches. Our alcove bathtub guide compares standard 60-inch alcove tubs.
If you have a deck or platform instead of a three-wall alcove, a drop-in tub is the other route; our drop-in tub guide covers those.
Frequently asked questions
Do they make 54-inch bathtubs?
Yes. Swiss Madison lists 54 × 30-inch Voltaire and Ivy alcove tubs, and Kingston lists a 53-15/16 × 32-inch Aqua Eden alcove tub.
How deep is a 54-inch tub?
It depends on the model. Swiss Madison lists 15 inches on the Voltaire sheet (14.7 on its product page) and 13 inches for the Ivy; Kingston lists 13-3/4 inches to the overflow.
Do 54-inch tubs come with a drain?
Not these. Swiss Madison says the faucet and drain are not included, and Kingston lists compatible drains separately.
How do I know if I need a left or right drain?
Stand facing the tub opening. If the drain end is on your left, you need a left-hand drain.
Will a 54-inch tub fit a 30-inch deep alcove?
The Swiss Madison tubs are 30 inches deep. The Kingston is 32 inches and needs a deeper alcove.
How we chose
This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read and inspected Swiss Madison’s spec sheets for the Voltaire SM-AB557 and Ivy SM-AB520, its product pages and its alcove bathtub installation guide, plus Kingston’s VTAM5432L22D product page and spec drawing. On October 15, 2026, all linked standard new offers were sold by Amazon.com; two showed explicit stock and two showed an add-to-cart button with a delivery date but no separate stock line, as noted above.
