Best Clawfoot Tub

For a classic soak, pick the Kingston 66-inch cast iron VCTND663013NB8 (60 gallons, no faucet holes). For the longest tub with a rim-mounted faucet, pick the 72-inch cast iron VCT7DE7232NL7. For a small bathroom or a lighter tub, pick the 51-inch acrylic VTND512824WAC5. Plan the faucet type and floor drain location before you order.

A clawfoot tub stands on four feet on the open floor, with all four sides finished. Two choices drive the plumbing: where the faucet goes (on the tub rim, on the wall, or on the floor), and where the drain sits. Both are fixed by the tub you pick.

Kingston 66-inch cast iron VCTND663013NB8: double-ended roll top

Choose the 66-inch cast iron tub for a classic double-ended roll-top soak. Kingston’s product page (kingstonbrass.com) lists cast iron for heat retention, no faucet drillings so it takes a freestanding or wall-mounted tub filler, 66 × 30-1/8 × 23 inches overall, a 60-gallon capacity, a center-rear drain, glossy white enamel on all sides and rim, and eagle-claw-and-ball feet with built-in adjusters for uneven floors.

The page lists a 14-3/4-inch water depth to the overflow, while the spec drawing (media.kingstonbrass.com) marks 15-3/16 inches in its section view; plan on the lower figure. The drawing shows a 2-1/16-inch drain hole centered on the length, 33 inches from each end and 10-3/8 inches from one long edge.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model VCTND663013NB8, brushed nickel feet.

Kingston 72-inch cast iron VCT7DE7232NL7: room to stretch, rim faucet holes

Choose the 72-inch cast iron tub for the longest soak here and a faucet mounted on the tub rim. Kingston’s product page (kingstonbrass.com) lists cast iron, deck-mount faucet drillings on 7-inch centers, 71-7/8 × 31-1/2 × 24-3/16 inches overall, a 15-3/16-inch water depth to the overflow, a 72-gallon capacity, a center drain and lion paw feet with built-in adjusters.

The spec drawing (media.kingstonbrass.com) shows the two 1-3/8-inch faucet holes centered on one long side and a 2-inch drain hole centered on the length, 13-3/8 inches from that side. Because the holes are drilled, you need a deck-mount clawfoot faucet on 7-inch centers; our clawfoot tub faucet guide covers those.

On October 17, 2026, the Amazon.com offer for model VCT7DE7232NL7, brushed brass feet, showed “Temporarily out of stock” and was still taking orders, with a delivery date to follow by email. Check the current delivery estimate before you order.

Kingston 51-inch acrylic VTND512824WAC5: for a small bathroom

Choose the 51-inch acrylic tub when floor space is tight or the floor cannot take cast iron. Kingston’s product page (kingstonbrass.com) lists acrylic construction, no faucet drillings, 51-3/8 × 27-15/16 × 28-5/16 inches overall, a 15-3/8-inch water depth to the overflow, a 34.34-gallon capacity, a reversible end drain and lion paw feet with adjusters.

Kingston’s title calls it a double slipper, but its drawing (media.kingstonbrass.com) shows the rim rising to 28-5/16 inches at one end and 24-7/16 inches at the other, with the drain 12-5/8 inches from one end. Look at the drawing to see how the high end and drain sit in your room.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed an add-to-cart button and a delivery date with model VTND512824WAC5, oil-rubbed bronze feet; the page did not show a separate stock line.

Cast iron or acrylic?

Kingston lists the cast iron tubs for heat retention and the acrylic tub for easy repair and durability. The practical difference for a homeowner is weight: cast iron is far heavier than acrylic, so it is harder to carry in and puts more load on the floor. Kingston’s pages above do not list weights, so check the shipping weight and your floor framing before ordering a cast iron tub; our freestanding tub guide explains floor load in more detail.

Plan the faucet and the drain

A tub without faucet drillings needs a freestanding floor-mount filler or a wall-mount faucet. A tub with rim drillings, like the 72-inch model, needs a deck-mount clawfoot faucet that matches its 7-inch centers. Our freestanding tub filler guide and clawfoot tub faucet guide cover both.

Clawfoot tubs need an exposed drain and overflow that matches the tub; Kingston lists compatible drain models on each product page. Set the floor drain rough-in to the drain location on the drawing before the floor is finished, and plan supply lines for the faucet style you chose. Our bathtub drain guide explains drain styles.

Measure the path into the bathroom

A clawfoot tub arrives in one piece, so measure every doorway, hallway turn and stair landing on the way to the bathroom before you order. Compare those openings with the smallest two dimensions of the tub: per Kingston, the 66-inch tub is 30-1/8 inches wide and 23 inches tall, the 72-inch tub is 31-1/2 inches wide and 24-3/16 inches tall, and the 51-inch tub is 27-15/16 inches wide and 28-5/16 inches tall at its high end.

Remember that the feet are part of the overall height. Leave clear floor space around the tub for cleaning, since all four sides are exposed.

Leveling and setting the tub

All three tubs list built-in adjusters in the feet for uneven floors. Set the tub, adjust the feet until the tub sits level and steady, and check that the feet sit firmly on the floor. Fill the tub and check the drain and overflow for leaks before you consider the job done.

For a short alcove instead of an open floor, see our 54-inch bathtub guide.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a clawfoot tub?

The three here are 51-3/8, 66 and 71-7/8 inches long, per Kingston.

How many gallons does a clawfoot tub hold?

Kingston lists 34.34 gallons for the 51-inch acrylic, 60 for the 66-inch and 72 for the 72-inch cast iron tub.

Do clawfoot tubs come with a faucet?

Not these three; Kingston sells the tub with its feet, and the faucet is bought separately. The 66-inch and 51-inch tubs have no faucet drillings; the 72-inch tub has two rim holes on 7-inch centers for a deck-mount faucet.

Is cast iron better than acrylic for a clawfoot tub?

Kingston lists cast iron for heat retention and acrylic for easy repair. Cast iron is much heavier, so check your floor.

Can clawfoot tub feet be adjusted?

Kingston lists built-in adjusters in the feet of all three tubs for uneven floors.

How we chose

This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read Kingston Brass product pages and inspected the spec drawings for the VCTND663013NB8, VCT7DE7232NL7 and VTND512824WAC5. On October 15, 2026, all three linked standard new offers were sold by Amazon.com; the 66-inch showed limited stock and the other two showed an add-to-cart button with a delivery date but no separate stock line. Other Kingston clawfoot listings were excluded because they were temporarily out of stock or had no current maker page. On October 17, 2026, the 72-inch listing also showed temporarily out of stock while still taking orders; see its section. Read our selection method and about Plumbing Picks.
