Best Kohler Shower System

For a rainhead plus handshower, pick the Kohler Honesty 26273-Y (built-in push-button diverter) or the Awaken 26914-Y (needs a separate transfer or diverter valve). For a tub-shower, pick the Pitch TS97074-4Y; to retrim an older shower valve, pick the Devonshire TS396-4. Every kit needs a Rite-Temp valve sold separately.

This guide compares four Kohler shower kits and the in-wall valves each one requires.

A Kohler “shower system” is usually a trim kit that bolts onto a Rite-Temp valve in the wall. The valve decides what trim fits, so start with the valve. Our Kohler Rite-Temp compatibility guide explains how to identify a K-304, K-2971 or K-8304 valve.

Kohler Awaken 26914-Y: rainhead and handshower kit

Choose the Kohler Awaken showering kit for a rainhead plus a handshower on a slidebar. The K-26914-Y spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a three-function handshower (wide coverage, intense drenching and targeted), a pivoting handshower holder, a thumb tab to change sprays, an 8-inch single-function rainhead, a 24-inch slidebar, a 60-inch hose, a wall-mount supply elbow with check valve, the rainhead arm and flange, valve trim and mounting hardware. It lists a 2.5 gpm maximum flow at 45 psi.

Check the valve list carefully: Kohler says it requires a K-8304 or K-28304 series valve and a K-728-K transfer valve or K-737-K diverter valve, all sold separately. That second valve is what sends water to the rainhead, the handshower, or both, so plan it in the rough-in.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer from eFaucets showed stock with model 26914-Y-CP.

Kohler Honesty 26273-Y: kit with a push-button diverter

Choose the Kohler Honesty showering kit if you want a rainhead and handshower with the diverter built into the trim; Kohler lists only a K-11748 series Rite-Temp valve as the required valve. The K-26273-Y spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists an 8-inch Honesty rainhead with an adjustable ball joint, a Shift+ square multifunction handshower, a 24-inch slidebar, a 60-inch metal hose, a wall-mount supply elbow, a right-angle arm and flange, and Rite-Temp valve trim with a push-button diverter (K-T99762-4).

That valve is sold separately. Kohler lists 2.5 gpm and 80 psi for the handshower and rainhead, ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1, and its lifetime limited faucet warranty.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer from eFaucets showed limited stock with model 26273-Y-CP.

Kohler Pitch TS97074-4Y: tub and shower trim kit

Choose the Kohler Pitch trim kit for a tub-shower combination. The K-TS97074-4Y spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a faceplate with a single lever for on/off and temperature, a 6-1/16-inch diverter bath spout with slip-fit connection, a single-function 2.5 gpm showerhead with Katalyst air induction and MasterClean sprayface, and the shower arm and flange. Kohler lists antiscald protection, a 6-inch spout reach and CEC and IAPMO among its codes.

It is trim only. Kohler lists the K-8304 series valve and cartridge kit, or a K-8300 valve body with K-8305 cartridge, and notes a straight drop of 7 to 18 inches with a single elbow between the valve and the spout. Our tub spout guide explains slip-fit spouts.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer from Studio 41 showed limited stock with model TS97074-4Y-CP.

Kohler Devonshire TS396-4: shower-only trim that fits older valves

Choose the Kohler Devonshire TS396-4 to retrim a shower-only Rite-Temp valve. The K-TS396-4 spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) says this trim replaces the older K-T396-4 and includes trim adapter kits for both Rite-Temp K-304/K-2971 HiFlow and the newer K-8304 series valves. It lists a faceplate with an ADA-compliant metal lever handle, a single-function 2.5 gpm showerhead with Katalyst air induction and MasterClean sprayface, and the shower arm and flange.

Kohler says its pressure-balancing diaphragm technology maintains outlet temperature within ±3°F during water pressure fluctuations. It also warns that long trim screws can damage the K-2971-KS valve and to check whether the thin-wall installation kit (88526) is needed.

On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer from eFaucets showed stock with model TS396-4-CP.

Start with the valve in the wall

Every kit here needs a valve that is not in the box. If you are remodeling to the studs, buy the valve Kohler lists for your kit. If the wall is finished, identify the existing valve first; the Devonshire is the one kit here that Kohler says includes adapters for older K-304 and K-2971 valves.

Wall depth matters too. Kohler lists rough-in and extension kits for the Devonshire for walls outside the standard range, including a 10350 kit for a 3-1/2 to 4-1/4-inch range and an 88526 kit for 2-1/4 to 2-3/4 inches; check the trim installation guide before closing the wall.

For the Pitch tub-shower trim, Kohler also notes that the shower outlet should be capped if a deck-mounted spout, diverter or hand shower is connected to the spout outlet instead, so plan the piping to match the trim you choose.

Pressure balancing and flow

Rite-Temp valves are Kohler’s pressure-balancing valves. Our pressure-balancing vs thermostatic guide explains the difference. The showerheads and handshowers here list 2.5 gpm, and Kohler lists the DOE Energy Policy Act of 1992 among the codes for several of these kits. Some states set lower showerhead limits, so check your local rule before you buy.

For more fixed and handheld heads, see our Kohler shower head guide and handheld shower head guide. For Delta and Moen systems with the valve included, see our shower system guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Kohler shower system include the valve?

Not these four. Each Kohler sheet says the valve is sold separately and names the valve series it needs.

Which Kohler shower kit has a rainhead and handshower?

The Awaken 26914-Y and Honesty 26273-Y both include an 8-inch rainhead, a handshower, a 24-inch slidebar and a 60-inch hose.

Does the Kohler Awaken kit need a diverter?

Yes. Kohler lists a K-728-K transfer or K-737-K diverter valve in addition to the K-8304 or K-28304 valve.

Will Kohler Devonshire trim fit my old valve?

Kohler says the TS396-4 includes adapters for Rite-Temp K-304/K-2971 HiFlow and K-8304 series valves.

What flow rate are Kohler shower kits?

The heads and handshowers in these kits list 2.5 gpm.

How we chose

This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read Kohler’s spec sheets for the Awaken K-26914-Y, Honesty K-26273-Y, Pitch K-TS97074-4Y and Devonshire K-TS396-4. On October 15, 2026, three linked offers from eFaucets and one from Studio 41 showed stock or limited stock. A Buckley TS35937-4Y kit was excluded because its current Kohler spec sheet was not found.
