A one-piece toilet has the tank and bowl cast as a single piece, so there is no tank-to-bowl joint to leak or collect grime. That also means the whole toilet is lifted into place at once, rather than tank and bowl separately. Every toilet here installs on a standard 12-inch rough-in; for other rough-ins, see our 10-inch and 14-inch rough-in guides. For all toilet types, see our toilet guide.

Swiss Madison Ivy SM-1T112: elongated, dual flush

Choose the Ivy for a standard elongated one-piece with a dual flush and a skirted base. Swiss Madison’s spec sheet (images.salsify.com) lists a one-piece seamless design, a glazed ceramic skirted trapway, an elongated bowl, a 16.5-inch bowl height with seat, a dual Vortex flush of 1.1 or 1.6 gpf, and a quick-release soft-close seat.

It lists floor mounting on a standard 12-inch rough-in, a 27.5 by 14 by 28-inch size and a 91-pound net weight, the lightest of the three Swiss Madison models. Its product page (swissmadison.com) lists 3-inch access holes for installation. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com was in stock with model SM-1T112.

It lists a 12-inch rough-in, a 26.5 by 14 by 29.5-inch size and a 100 to 108-pound net weight. At 26.5 inches deep it projects the least from the wall of the four. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com was in stock with model SM-1T106, glossy white.

American Standard Compact Cadet 3 612AA001: compact elongated

Choose the Compact Cadet 3 for an elongated bowl in a round-front space. American Standard’s product page (americanstandard-us.com) for 612AA001 says it fits in the same space as a round-front toilet, and links a spec sheet (lixil.cdn.celum.cloud) for the earlier 2403.128 model number. That sheet lists vitreous china, a 1.28 gpf high-efficiency flush that meets EPA WaterSense criteria, an elongated siphon-jet bowl with a 2-1/8-inch fully glazed trapway, a 3-inch flush valve and a 16-1/2-inch rim height.

It lists a 28-1/2 by 15 by 28-1/2-inch size, a 12-inch minimum rough-in, a slow-close seat and a 5-year warranty, and notes that the supply line is sold separately. The sheet’s 2403.813 version moves the trip lever to the right side; the linked Amazon listing names left-hand flush. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 612AA001.020, white. More in our American Standard toilet guide.

One-piece or two-piece?

A one-piece toilet has no tank bolts or tank-to-bowl gasket, so there is one less joint to leak and less to clean around. The trade-off is weight: the Swiss Madison sheets list 91 to 111 pounds, and the whole toilet goes on in one lift, so plan for two people. A two-piece toilet sets the bowl and tank separately and is easier to carry. For a skirted look in either style, see our skirted toilet guide.

Height and bowl shape

Seat height on the Swiss Madison sheets runs from 16 inches on the Concorde to 17-1/4 inches on the Classé, measured with the seat. American Standard lists a 16-1/2-inch rim height on the Compact Cadet 3, which is measured without the seat, and the sheet states it meets ADA guidelines and ANSI A117.1 requirements for accessible facilities, and says to check local codes. For more taller options, see our chair-height toilet guide. Swiss Madison says the Concorde’s square bowl gives additional seat area; the other three are elongated.

Installing a one-piece toilet

Check the rough-in first: measure from the finished wall to the center of the floor bolts. All four toilets here need 12 inches. The Classé lists a wax ring and bolts in the box; American Standard’s 612AA001 title also names a wax ring. A supply line is not listed as included on any of them, so buy one sized to your stop; see our toilet supply line guide. If the floor bolts are worn, replace them too; see our closet bolt guide, and for the seal, our wax ring guide.

Check these before you order

  • Rough-in. All four need 12 inches.
  • Depth. 26.5 to 28-1/2 inches from the wall.
  • Height. 16 to 17-1/4 inches with seat on the Swiss Madisons.
  • Flush. Dual 1.1/1.6 gpf or single 1.28 gpf.
  • Weight. 91 to 111 pounds on the Swiss Madison sheets.
  • Supply line. Not listed as included.

Which one-piece toilet should you buy?

For a standard elongated dual-flush one-piece at the lowest weight here, the Swiss Madison Ivy. For a square bowl and the shortest depth, the Concorde. For the tallest seat and a wax ring in the box, the Classé. For an elongated bowl in a round-front space and a single 1.28 gpf flush, the American Standard Compact Cadet 3. For more from one maker, see our Swiss Madison toilet guide.
