Best Wall Hung Sink (2026)

The best wall-hung sink for most bathrooms is the American Standard Lucerne 0355.912, a vitreous china sink with a 6-1/2 in deep bowl, 4 in faucet centers and a wall hanger in the box. Pick the Kohler Kingston K-2005 if you want a 4 in centerset with a soap hole, or the Kingston K-2006 for an 8 in widespread faucet. Both Kohler sinks include a hanger and are drilled for a concealed arm carrier. Use a floor-mounted carrier like the Zurn Z1231 where people will lean on the sink or the job calls for one.

A wall-hung sink is only as strong as what is behind the drywall. Before you order, open the wall or find out whether there is solid blocking at the right height. You will also see the trap and supplies, so plan for a finished chrome trap; our P-trap guide covers the options.

Sizes and standards are from the Lucerne wall-hung sink spec sheet (lixil.cdn.celum.cloud) and Kohler’s K-2005 (resources.kohler.com) and K-2006 (resources.kohler.com) spec sheets. Note that American Standard lists bowl depth and Kohler lists water depth, so those two numbers are not the same measurement. The linked Lucerne 0355.912.020 omits the overflow; choose a compatible non-overflow drain.

BEST OVERALL · 6-1/2 IN DEEP BOWL · HANGER INCLUDED

American Standard Lucerne 0355.912: deep bowl, simple hanger

Choose it when you want a plain, durable sink that hangs on a steel hanger and has a deep bowl. The spec sheet (lixil.cdn.celum.cloud) lists a D-shaped bowl 14-7/8 in wide, 10 in front to back and 6-1/2 in deep, no overflow, 4 in faucet centers, a 1-1/4 in OD waste outlet for a plug or pop-up drain, and a recommended rim height of 34 in from the finished floor. It meets ASME A112.19.2/CSA B45.1, and the sheet says it meets ADA guidelines and ANSI A117.1 (check local codes).

The Lucerne line comes in many hole patterns. 0355.912 uses the included wall hanger or concealed arms and omits the overflow; 0355.012 is the overflow version. 0355.027 and 0356.028 are drilled for exposed brackets you buy separately, and 0356.015 is the 8 in widespread version. Read the last digits before you order.

Skip it if you want a soap or lotion hole on a 4 in model (look at 0355.056 or 0355.034), or if you want a modern square look.

BEST 4 IN CENTERSET ALTERNATIVE · CARRIER-READY

Kohler Kingston K-2005: centerset with a soap hole

Choose it when you want a 4 in centerset faucet plus a soap or lotion dispenser. Per the K-2005 spec sheet (resources.kohler.com), it is vitreous china, 21-1/4 x 18-1/8 in, with a 16 x 10 in bowl, 3-1/8 in water depth, an overflow, three faucet holes on 4 in centers, a 1-1/4 in soap hole and a 1-3/4 in drain hole.

It includes a wall hanger and is drilled for a concealed arm carrier, so it works for both a home and a commercial job. Kohler lists ASME A112.19.2/CSA B45.1, ICC/ANSI A117.1 and IAPMO certification, and ADA compliance when installed to those rules. The linked K-2005-96 is Biscuit; color code -0 is white, and that white offer was not in stock at the check.

Skip it if you want a deep bowl. The 3-1/8 in water depth is shallow, and a high-flow faucet will splash.

BEST FOR WIDESPREAD FAUCETS · 8 IN CENTERS

Kohler Kingston K-2006: same sink, 8 in widespread

Choose it when you already have, or want, an 8 in widespread faucet. The K-2006 spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) matches the K-2005 in size and bowl, with three 1-3/8 in faucet holes on 8 in centers, a soap hole, a wall hanger in the box and drilling for a concealed arm carrier. Colors are -0 white, -96 Biscuit and -7 Black.

Skip it if you plan a single-hole faucet. Buy a single-hole sink instead of capping two holes.

Wall-hung sink brackets: hanger or carrier

There are three ways to hold a wall-hung sink. Match the method to the sink’s drilling, because each sink is made for specific supports.

Replacement hanger. American Standard lists the S-9 Lavatory Wall Hanger, part 382430-1120A, as the spare for the Lucerne on its product page (americanstandard-us.com). If an old hanger is bent or rusted, replace it rather than shim it.

Zurn Z1231 carrier. The Z1231 spec sheet (cdn11.bigcommerce.com) describes a lavatory support system with coated rectangular steel uprights with welded feet, cast iron adjustable headers, concealed arms, steel sleeves and an alignment truss, about 45 lbs. Suffixes add options, such as -E2 for 2 in concealed arm escutcheons or -79 for a paraplegic rough-in. Rough-in letter dimensions depend on the sink, so pull Zurn’s carrier rough-in data for your exact model before framing. A carrier bolts to the floor and is set before the wall closes, so it is a remodel or new construction job.

Skip a carrier if you are replacing a sink on a sound wall with good blocking. A hanger on solid wood is how most homes are done.

Blocking and mounting height

American Standard’s wall-hung sink install guide (lixil.cdn.celum.cloud) shows the method. Pick the rim height you want, then subtract the model offset to find the hanger bolt centerline. For the Lucerne, the offset is 1 in.

Lucerne hanger height (rim height minus 1 in offset)
Rim height you wantHanger centerlineNote
32 in31 inExample height used in the guide
34 in33 inRim height on the Lucerne spec sheet
  • Blocking: the guide calls for suitable reinforcement behind the finished wall and shows a 2×8 support centered on the hanger. Run the blocking between studs and make sure it reaches the bottom of the sink’s back.
  • Center it: center the hanger on the waste-hole centerline.
  • Fasteners: drill pilots, set the hanger, test-hang the sink and level it, then install the mounting screws and any anchor screws.
  • Seal: caulk the joint where the sink meets the wall.

Other American Standard models use different offsets in the same guide, so do not reuse the Lucerne number on another sink.

Rough-in and ADA knee clearance

With no cabinet, the drain and supplies are on display. Plan their height before the wall is closed.

  • Drain: the Lucerne waste outlet is 1-1/4 in OD. The spec sheet shows suggested supply and trap locations and marks them as suggestions; set yours from the sink drawing, not a cabinet sink’s usual numbers.
  • Supplies: use chrome angle stops and supply tubes that look good exposed. See our angle stop guide.
  • Drain assembly: a finished pop-up or grid drain is visible from below. Our pop-up drain guide covers 1-1/4 in assemblies.
  • Accessible sink: the Lucerne barrier-free drawing shows a 34 in rim and 27 in minimum knee clearance. Exposed hot water and drain pipes under an accessible sink usually need insulation or a guard. Ask your inspector what your jurisdiction requires.

If the supplies or drain have to move in the wall, or the wall is a plumbing chase you cannot see into, call a licensed plumber. A permit is usually required for new drain work.

Faucet fit and splash

Buy the faucet to the sink’s holes: 4 in centers for K-2005 and Lucerne 0355.912, 8 in for K-2006 and Lucerne 0356.015. Wall-hung bowls are often small, so a short spout with a modest flow splashes less. Our bathroom faucet guide sorts faucets by hole pattern.

Wall-hung sink FAQ

Do wall-hung sinks need special backing?

Yes. The hanger has to screw into solid wood blocking, not just drywall. American Standard’s install guide shows a 2×8 support centered on the hanger. If you cannot confirm suitable backing, stop and have the support designed before hanging the sink. A concealed carrier also requires access to the wall.

How high should a wall-hung sink be?

Many are set with the rim around 32 to 34 inches. The Lucerne spec sheet lists 34 inches from the finished floor. Subtract the model’s offset to find the hanger height; for the Lucerne the offset is 1 inch.

What is a concealed arm carrier?

It is a steel frame that bolts to the floor inside the wall, with arms that slide into holes in the sink. It carries the load to the floor, which is why it is used in commercial and accessible restrooms.

Can I hang a wall-mount sink on a tile wall?

Yes, if there is blocking behind the tile and you drill the tile with the right bit. Mark the hanger holes, drill carefully, and seal the screw holes. Check for pipes in the wall before drilling.

Are wall-hung sinks ADA compliant?

Some are when installed to the rules. The Kohler Kingston sheets say ADA compliant when installed to those requirements, and the Lucerne sheet lists ADA and ANSI A117.1. Height, knee space and pipe protection all count, so check with your inspector.
