“Granite composite” is the common shopping term for sinks molded from stone particles and resin, and makers describe the material differently: Kraus calls its material quartz composite, Elkay says its sinks contain up to 80% natural quartz with acrylic resins, and Blanco calls its material Silgranit. Kraus Quarza KGD-442: dual mount, 60/40
Choose the KGD-442 for a composite sink that can go on top of or under the counter. Kraus’s spec sheet (kraususa.com) lists quartz composite construction, dual-mount installation, a 60/40 double bowl, a 33 by 22-inch overall size, a 10-inch larger bowl and a 7-1/2-inch smaller bowl, rear offset drains with 3-1/2-inch openings, and a 36-inch minimum cabinet left to right and 24 inches front to back.
It includes mounting hardware and a cut-out template, and the drawing shows one faucet hole with dashed optional hole locations. Kraus notes that although its composite sinks are highly heat resistant, very hot pans can discolor the surface and suggests a trivet or rolling mat. Elkay Quartz Classic ELGU3322: equal undermount bowls
Choose the ELGU3322 for two equal, deep undermount bowls. Elkay’s spec sheet (elkayfiles.com) lists a sink molded with up to 80% natural quartz and acrylic resins, a 33 by 18-1/2 by 9-1/2-inch size with two 14-1/4 by 16-3/16-inch bowls, rear center 3-1/2-inch drains and a 36-inch minimum cabinet.
It includes mounting hardware and a template, describes the sink as naturally sound deadening, and lists five finishes; the linked offer is Greystone, model ELGU3322GS0. Elkay describes the material as non-porous with heat, scratch, fade and stain resistance; those are the maker’s claims. Blanco Diamond 443069: low divide
Choose the Diamond Equal Double Low Divide for two equal bowls with a lower center wall. Blanco’s spec sheet (blanco.com) for the Silgranit Diamond Equal Double Low Divide lists a 32 by 19-3/8-inch sink with two 14-1/2-inch-wide bowls 9-1/2 inches deep, and a center divide that the drawing shows lower than the bowl walls.
It lists a 36-inch minimum cabinet, includes installation instructions, a cut-out template and a limited lifetime warranty, and lists undermount clips, sink grids and a floating dish rack as optional accessories. Elkay Quartz Classic ELG2522: drop-in single bowl
Choose the ELG2522 to replace a 25 by 22-inch drop-in sink with composite. Elkay’s spec sheet (elkayfiles.com) lists the same up-to-80% quartz material, a 25 by 22 by 9-1/2-inch drop-in sink with a 22-5/16 by 16-7/16-inch bowl, a rear center 3-5/8-inch drain and a 30-inch minimum cabinet.
It lists a 24-3/8 by 21-3/8-inch cutout with an 11/16-inch corner radius and mounting hardware for countertops up to 1-3/4 inches thick, and six finishes. Composite or stainless?
Composite sinks come in colors and, per Elkay, are naturally sound deadening. Stainless steel sinks list gauges and sound pads instead. Kraus’s note about very hot pans is worth taking seriously: a trivet or rolling mat protects the surface. When comparing capacity, check the bowl dimensions in the table, not just the outside size. Colors by model
Color is a main reason to choose composite, and each sheet lists its own range. Kraus lists black, grey, brown and white for the KGD-442. Elkay lists black, graphite, greystone, matte black and white for the ELGU3322, and adds mocha for the ELG2522. Blanco lists eight Silgranit colors for the Diamond Equal Double Low Divide, each with its own SKU: cinder, truffle, white, anthracite, café, coal black, soft white and volcano gray. The Amazon listing must match the SKU for the color you want, so compare the model number in the listing to the maker’s color code before ordering.
Mounting and cutouts
The Kraus KGD-442 can be dropped in or undermounted. The Elkay ELGU3322 and Blanco Diamond are undermount sinks for a counter that can take a finished cut edge, such as stone or quartz; Blanco lists undermount clips as an optional accessory, while Elkay includes mounting hardware. The Elkay ELG2522 is drop-in and lists a 24-3/8 by 21-3/8-inch cutout, so measure your old opening.
