Hansgrohe sells two kinds of systems here. The Raindance sets put a thermostatic valve in the wall and show only a trim plate, with the head on an arm and the hand shower on a separate wall bar. The Croma Showerpipes are exposed: a bar on the wall carries the mixer, the riser, the head and the hand shower, fed through a showerpipe rough. Either way, check your state’s shower flow limit first, because two of the four are listed at 2.5 gpm.

Hansgrohe Raindance E 04914000: square thermostatic set

Choose the Raindance E set for a full remodel with a square rain head and an in-wall thermostatic valve. Hansgrohe’s product page names it the Raindance E Thermostatic Showerhead/Wallbar Set with Rough, 2.0 gpm, and its installation booklet (assets.hansgrohe.com) lists the parts: the iBox Universal Plus rough (01850181), the Ecostat Square thermostatic trim with volume control and diverter (15714), the Raindance E 300 1-jet head, a 15-inch Raindance E arm (04731), the Unica Wallbar S 24-inch with hose (28632), a FixFit square wall outlet (26455) and a Raindance Select E 120 3-jet hand shower. The drawings show the head at about 11-3/4 inches square.

The booklet says the thermostatic mixing valve is for use with a showerhead rated at 1.1 gpm or higher. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 04914000, chrome.

Hansgrohe Raindance S 04915000: round PowderRain set

Choose the Raindance S set for the same in-wall thermostatic package with a round PowderRain head. The same booklet (assets.hansgrohe.com) lists the iBox Universal Plus rough, the Ecostat S thermostatic trim with volume control and diverter (15758), the Raindance S 240 1-jet PowderRain head (27624, 2.5 gpm), a 15-inch Raindance arm (27413), the Unica Wallbar S 24-inch with hose, a FixFit wall outlet (27458) and a Raindance Select S 120 3-jet PowderRain hand shower. The head drawing shows a 9-1/2-inch round face.

Hansgrohe lists this set at 2.5 gpm; a 1.75 gpm version (06159) appears in the same booklet if your state limits flow. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 04915000, chrome.

Hansgrohe Croma Showerpipe 150 27169001: exposed, compact

Choose the Croma Showerpipe 150 for an exposed system with a smaller head. Hansgrohe’s installation booklet (assets.hansgrohe.com) lists 2.0 gpm at the showerhead and 1.85 gpm at the hand shower, says it requires the 16181181 showerpipe rough (not included), and shows the mixer connections 5-7/8 inches apart. The suggested layout puts the mixer about 47-1/4 inches above the shower floor and needs at least 91-3/4 inches from the floor to the ceiling.

The booklet also says the wall must be strong enough to support the showerpipe; for fiberglass or acrylic shower units, it says to add header boards at the mounting points. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 27169001, chrome.

Hansgrohe Croma Showerpipe 220 27185001: exposed, larger head

Choose the Croma Showerpipe 220 for an exposed system with a larger head where 2.5 gpm is allowed. Hansgrohe’s installation booklet (assets.hansgrohe.com) lists 2.5 gpm for both the showerhead and the hand shower, requires the 16181181 showerpipe rough (not included) and shows the mixer connections 5-7/8 inches apart. The suggested layout puts the mixer about 39-3/8 inches above the floor, the head about 47-3/4 inches above the mixer, and needs at least 88-1/8 inches to the ceiling.

Hansgrohe says not to install this showerpipe in a steam shower, and that the included screws and anchors suit a solid wall. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed In Stock with model 27185001, chrome.

Rough-in notes from the Raindance booklet

The Raindance booklet adds plumbing details that matter before the tile goes up. It has a section on service stops, and for the shower arm outlet it says to install a 1/2-inch NPT female threaded fitting recessed 1/4 inch behind the surface of the finished wall. The iBox Universal Plus drawing shows 1/2-inch NPT connections and a body about 4-3/4 inches across.

The Ecostat trims include volume control and a diverter, so, going by the trim names, one control sets temperature and the other handles volume and switching between outlets. Set the wall bar height to suit the people who will use the shower; Hansgrohe’s measurements are suggestions you can adjust.

Check these before you order

  • Rough-in. The Raindance sets include the iBox rough; the Croma Showerpipes need the 16181181 showerpipe rough, sold separately.
  • Ceiling height. The Croma layouts need at least 88-1/8 to 91-3/4 inches to the ceiling.
  • Wall strength. Hansgrohe says the wall must support the showerpipe or wall bar; acrylic or fiberglass units need added backing.
  • Flow limit. Two of the four are 2.5 gpm; check your state rule.
  • Steam showers. Hansgrohe says not to install the Croma 220 in a steam shower.

Which Hansgrohe system should you buy?

If the walls are open, the Raindance E or S sets give you a hidden thermostatic valve, a rain head on an arm and a hand shower on a bar; pick E for a square look or S for a round PowderRain head. If you want a single exposed unit, the Croma Showerpipes mount on the wall over a showerpipe rough; pick the 150 for a compact head at 2.0 gpm or the 220 for a larger head at 2.5 gpm.

How we chose

We read and rendered Hansgrohe’s installation booklets for the Raindance thermostatic sets and the Croma Showerpipe 150 and 220, and read Hansgrohe’s product names for each model. On October 15, 2026, we checked each linked standard new Amazon offer for model, seller, stock and an add-to-cart button. Read our selection method and about Plumbing Picks.
