Buy Crocodile Cloth Original, the biggest wipe here at 15 by 10 in, for grease, paint, caulk and glue. Get Tub O’ Towels TW90 for one truck canister, Big Wipes for PVC glue and foam, GOJO for a shop bucket, or Scott Xtreme around chrome.
Top pick: Crocodile Cloth Original$130.99 at AmazonPrice as of Oct 24, 2026, 5:30 AM EDT
Each one is the genuine brand, new and in stock on Amazon when we checked at 1:27 a.m. on Oct 22, 2026, and each scored 7.0 or higher on our spec score.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
How the five compare on our spec score
Five checks from each maker’s own pages, listings and pack labels, equal weight. The rules and every input are in the method section near the end.
PlumbingPicks spec score out of 10, from Crocodile Cloth’s, Tub O’ Towels’, Big Wipes’, GOJO’s and Kimberly-Clark’s own pages, their Amazon listings and pack labels, read Oct 22, 2026. It is not a customer rating.
Crocodile Cloth wins on size and on the list of messes its maker names. Tub O’ Towels has a big wipe and the most wipes in a hard canister. Big Wipes would score higher if it published a wipe size; it leads on skin care and names PVC glue and spray foam.
GOJO and Scott both have a true scrub side. They lose ground on count, wipe size and named skin conditioners.
Each pick, in detail
What each wipe is made for, how big it is, what’s in it for your hands, and where its listing and its maker say different things.

You want the most wipe for each pull, for greasy hands, a sticky fitting or a glue drip, and you’d rather skip the citrus scent.

You need a rough side to scrub dried sealant. Crocodile Cloth’s PowerSCRUB, Big Wipes, GOJO and Scott have one.
Crocodile Cloth Original is the wipe I’d stock first, and I’ve used it. This case is six soft packs of 100 cloths, 600 in all, sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked. Crocodile Cloth also sells packs of 10, 50 and 100 on its own site.
It tops the score on size. Each cloth is 15 by 10 in, 150 sq in, the biggest here by a wide margin. The maker says that means fewer wipes for the same mess. A pack of 100 holds about 104 sq ft of cloth, the most of any container here with a published wipe size.
Crocodile Cloth lists grease, grime, oil, paint, caulk and glue, and its Amazon listing adds ink. That’s six of the eight messes we track, tied with Big Wipes for the most. The maker calls the formula a low-foaming degreaser that’s safe on nearly any surface.
For hands, it’s infused with aloe and vitamin E and dermatologically tested, per Crocodile Cloth. Its FAQ says every product except its Fierce disinfectant is fragrance free. That helps if a citrus smell bothers you in a closed crawlspace.
Two limits. The Original has no scrub side; Crocodile Cloth sells a textured version, PowerSCRUB, for that. And the listing says the cloth is over four times stronger than standard wipes without naming a test, so we didn’t score strength.
The maker says each cloth stays wet outside the package for over an hour. That matters when you pull a few at the start of a glue-up and lay them on the box.
My call: buy the Original case for a shop or a few trucks. Keep one pack in the cab and the rest on the shelf. If you scrub dried sealant often, add a pack of PowerSCRUB.

Buy it if
You want one canister behind the seat for greasy hands, a pump motor, a dirty water heater jacket or a stained vanity top.
Skip it if
Most of your mess is PVC cement, silicone or spray foam. Big Wipes names all three on its tub.
Tub O’ Towels TW90 is the canister I’d keep on the truck, and I’ve used it. It’s one 90-count canister, sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked. Federal Process makes it, and Tub O’ Towels holds four of Google’s top seven results for this search.
Each wipe is 10 by 12 in, 120 sq in, so a canister holds about 75 sq ft of wipe. Ninety is the most wipes in any hard canister here. Size scored a 9 and count a 10.
Tub O’ Towels lists grease, oil, tar, ink, paint, permanent marker and wax, on hands and most surfaces. The maker calls the formula a blend of nine cleaning agents, and the wipe a heavy-duty polyfiber blend, not cotton, so it holds together while you scrub.
For hands it adds aloe, vitamin E and lanolin, per the maker. That’s three named conditioners, which scored a 9. It doesn’t say the wipe is dermatologist tested, which kept it off a 10.
Two gaps for plumbers. The maker doesn’t name glue, adhesive, caulk or sealant. And the TW90 has one texture. The TW75 Dual Texture has a smooth side and a rough side at the same 10 by 12 in, 75 to a canister, and it’s listed with this card.
Tub O’ Towels says its VaporLock lid keeps wipes from drying out. It also says plainly that the wipes don’t disinfect and have no antibacterial properties.
Check the count on the can. Tub O’ Towels’ own 40-count canister lists 7 by 8 in wipes, so the small cans aren’t the same wipe as the TW90.
My call: buy the TW90 if you want one canister for everything greasy. For glue-ups, look at Big Wipes.

Your day is PVC and ABS cement, silicone around tubs and showers, anti-seize on threads, or foam around pipe holes.
Skip it if
You want to know exactly how much wipe you’re buying. Big Wipes doesn’t publish a wipe size.
Big Wipes Heavy-Duty is the tub I’d keep in the plastic-pipe bag, and I’ve used it. This is the 80-count tub. R/A Hoerr Incorporated was the Amazon seller when we checked. Big Wipes’ site lists offices in Britain, Ireland and Duluth, Georgia.
It’s the only wipe here whose label names PVC glue. The tub lists silicone, adhesive, anti-seize, oil and grease, PVC glue, PU spray foam and paint, from hands, tools and surfaces. That’s a plumber’s list, and it scored a 10 on messes.
Big Wipes calls it a scrub and clean wipe. Per the maker, the abrasive side scrubs grime, paint, adhesive, sealant and oil, and the smooth side soaks up what’s left.
It has the strongest skin story here. Big Wipes names four conditioners: aloe vera, lanolin, vitamin E and glycerine. It says the wipes are dermatologically tested with zero irritation recorded, and that the formula is water-based and free of parabens, sulphates and phosphates.
Why it isn’t higher: Big Wipes doesn’t publish a wipe size on its site or its listing, so size scored a neutral 5. Without it, we can’t work out how much wipe is in a tub.
Big Wipes’ site says its current Pro+ cloth can be machine washed at 40°C and re-wet with its Power Spray. The Amazon listing doesn’t mention washing, so I wouldn’t count on it.
Big Wipes sells the same wipe in tubs, bigger buckets and refill pouches, so you can refill the tub you already have. The listing says the snap-shut lid keeps wipes moist and stops roll-back, so one hand pulls one wipe.
The tub in the photo is marked with a new Sports Active fragrance. A 240-count bucket is on Amazon from the same seller.
My call: if you glue PVC, run silicone and foam pipe holes, carry this tub.
10.5 x 12.25 in towel72 per bucket6 buckets, 432 towelsSIMPUL nozzleCitrus scentGOJO 6396-06
Buy it if
You want a bucket by the shop door or in a box truck that hands out one wet towel at a time, with a rough side for stuck-on grime.
Skip it if
You need one small canister for a pickup. Six buckets of this size is a shop order.
GOJO Scrubbing Towels are the shop bucket I’d set by the door, and I’ve used them. This is GOJO’s item 6396-06: six buckets of 72 towels, 432 in all, sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked. GOJO is the company behind Purell.
Each towel has two faces. GOJO says the scrubbing side removes tough soils and the smooth side picks up dirt fast. At 10.5 by 12.25 in, about 129 sq in, it’s the second biggest towel here, and size scored a 9.
GOJO says the towels work on heavy metals, grease, paint, adhesives, tar and asphalt. It’s the only maker here that names heavy metals, though it doesn’t say which ones. It doesn’t name caulk or sealant.
The dispenser is the reason to buy a bucket. GOJO’s SIMPUL nozzle gives one wipe at a time and has a re-wetting design, so the top towel doesn’t dry out. The bucket ships pre-threaded.
For hands, GOJO says the formula has skin conditioners to help prevent dryness and irritation. The ingredient list names glycerin, but no aloe, lanolin or vitamin E, so skin care scored an 8.
It loses points on count. Seventy-two towels is the fewest per container here. GOJO lists the United States as the country of manufacture, and it asks users not to flush wipes.
The case is heavy. GOJO lists it at 16.75 lb, and each bucket at about 6.8 in tall and 6.1 in across, so it fits a truck bin or a shop shelf, not a cup holder. GOJO also sells a wall bracket for the bucket, item 6301-01.
My call: put a GOJO bucket in the shop or on the back of a box truck, where the one-at-a-time nozzle saves towels. For a pickup cab, a canister fits better.

You caulk tubs and showers, set trim, and want a wipe whose maker names acrylic, chrome and stainless as safe.
Skip it if
You want a big wipe for greasy hands. At 7 by 9 in, it’s half the size of most picks here.
Scott Xtreme is the wipe I’d use around finished fixtures, and I’ve used it. This case is Kimberly-Clark Professional’s item 54591: six canisters of 75, 450 wipes, sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked. Amazon showed 17 left.
It’s the only pick whose maker lists finished surfaces by name. Kimberly-Clark says it’s safe on acrylic, stainless steel, ceramic, glass and chrome. For a plumber that’s an acrylic tub wall, a stainless sink and a chrome valve trim after a caulk job.
Scott lists oil, grease, grime, paint, adhesives and caulk. The fabric is dual-action: a textured side for scrubbing and a smooth side for wiping clean. The scrub side scored a 10 on texture, and the mess list a 9.
The wipe is small, 7 by 9 in, about 63 sq in. That’s under half the size of a Crocodile Cloth, so a canister of 75 holds about 33 sq ft of wipe, the least of the four with a published size.
Scott says the wipe is for heavy-duty soils on surfaces and hands, but not on compromised skin. It names no aloe, lanolin or other conditioner, so skin care scored a 7.
Kimberly-Clark pitches it for lawn and garden, home, automotive and do-it-yourself work, and for cleaning on the go. The pack says it quickly removes oil, grease, grime and adhesives, and the scent is citrus.
Scott’s own site lists only the 75-count canister. A case of six lets you leave one in the trim bag, one in the cab and four on the shelf. Kimberly-Clark’s page also lists an NSF certification without naming which one, so we didn’t count it.
My call: keep a canister in the trim bag for the caulk line and the chrome around it. For greasy hands, grab one of the bigger wipes.

Read the PVC glue, spray foam and anti-seize rows first. Big Wipes is the only maker that prints those three on the tub. Crocodile Cloth and Scott cover caulk, and every maker covers grease and paint.
Nobody here names pipe dope, flux or plumber’s putty. My call: wipe those off a fitting with a dry towel first. Our tape, pipe dope and putty page covers what each one is.
How much wipe is in each container
Counts don’t compare well when the wipes differ in size. Square feet of wipe does.
Our arithmetic: wipes per container times wipe size, divided by 144. Sizes and counts from each maker’s page or the brand’s Amazon listing, read Oct 22, 2026. Big Wipes publishes no wipe size.

Pack sizes from Amazon’s product data, Oct 22, 2026. Square feet are our arithmetic from the makers’ wipe sizes.
One Crocodile Cloth is more than twice the size of one Scott Xtreme wipe. So 75 Scott wipes cover less than a third of what 100 Crocodile Cloths do. That doesn’t make Scott worse at its job; a small wipe is easier to fold onto a caulk line. It does mean you’ll open more canisters.
What’s in each wipe for your hands

Conditioners named on each maker’s page, listing or ingredient list, read Oct 22, 2026. Our skin-care check scores this with the dermatologist test; rules in the method section.
None of these makers publishes the test behind its skin claim, so treat “dermatologically tested” as the maker’s word. If your hands crack in winter, start with Big Wipes or Tub O’ Towels, which name the most conditioners.
My call: a wipe gets glue and grease off. It doesn’t replace soap and water at the end of the day.
Which surfaces each maker says are safe
A degreaser that’s fine on a pipe wrench can dull a finish. Here’s what each maker lists.
Scott is the only maker that names acrylic and chrome, the two finishes a plumber worries about most at trim-out. Tub O’ Towels names sinks, tubs and tile.
My call: on a new acrylic tub or a matte black faucet, use the smooth side and test a corner first, whatever the label says. For chrome and glass, our shop towels page has a low-lint roll for the last dry wipe.
Wipes, shop towels or hand cleaner?
Each does a different job. Here’s where a pre-wet wipe earns its spot on the truck.
Wipe: glue, sealant or grease with no sink nearby
The wipe brings its own cleaner. Big Wipes names PVC glue and spray foam; Scott and Crocodile Cloth name caulk.
Dry shop towel: water and oil to soak up
A dry paper shop towel soaks up a drained line or threading oil. A wet wipe is already full of liquid.
Hand cleaner: end-of-day grime at a sink
My call: save the tub of hand cleaner for the shop sink at the end of the day. In the middle of a glue-up, a wipe is quicker.
None of them: germs after sewer work
Tub O’ Towels says its wipes don’t disinfect, and none of the five is sold as a sanitizer. Wash with soap and water.
Most trucks end up with both a canister of wipes and a roll of shop towels. The wipe cleans; the towel dries and soaks up. Our shop towels page compares the rolls, and our pipe threading oil page covers the oil you’ll be wiping off threaded pipe.
Scrub side or smooth wipe

Refilling the tub you already have
From the makers’ pages and the Amazon listings, read Oct 22, 2026.
Tub O’ Towels says its VaporLock lid stops evaporation, and Big Wipes says its snap-shut lid keeps wipes moist and stops roll-back. A soft pack depends on you closing the flap every time. Crocodile Cloth says its cloths stay wet out of the pack for over an hour, which helps once you’ve pulled a few.
Do these wipes disinfect?

That matters after you pull a toilet, snake a main or open a cleanout. A degreasing wipe moves the mess off your hands; it isn’t sold to kill germs. My call: wipe first if your hands are greasy, then wash with soap and water before you eat or get back in the truck. Our object flushed down the toilet page covers one of those dirty jobs.
Never flush a heavy-duty wipe
Every maker here and EPA say the same thing. These wipes are built not to fall apart.
1
EPA’s list says no
EPA’s septic care page lists non-flushable wipes, such as baby wipes or other wet wipes, among the things never to flush.
2
The makers say no
GOJO asks users not to flush wipes, and Crocodile Cloth says not to flush its cloths. The Tub O’ Towels, Scott and GOJO labels carry a do-not-flush mark.
3
They’re made to hold together
Tub O’ Towels says its polyfiber wipe won’t fall apart on the job. Toilet paper is made to fall apart; these are made not to.
4
Bag them on the job
Keep a trash bag by the toilet or sink you’re working on, so a used wipe never ends up in the bowl.
If one does go down, our best toilet auger page covers pulling it back out.

Questions people ask
What are heavy duty cleaning wipes?
Pre-wet cloth wipes with a degreasing cleaner, sold in canisters, tubs, packs or buckets. Makers sell them as bigger and tougher than household wipes. Tub O’ Towels calls its wipe a polyfiber blend, not cotton, and Crocodile Cloth’s is 15 by 10 in.
Can you use heavy duty wipes on your hands?
All five makers here say yes. Big Wipes names four skin conditioners and says it’s dermatologically tested; Tub O’ Towels names aloe, vitamin E and lanolin. Scott says its Xtreme wipe isn’t for compromised skin.
Do heavy duty wipes remove PVC glue?
Big Wipes is the only maker here that prints PVC glue on its tub. GOJO, Scott and Big Wipes name adhesives, and Crocodile Cloth names glue. Wipe while it’s wet; none of them claims to remove cured cement.
What wipes remove spray foam?
Big Wipes names PU spray foam on its tub, the only pick here that does. Wipe it off while it’s still wet; none of the makers says its wipe removes cured foam.
Are heavy duty cleaning wipes flushable?
No. EPA’s septic care page lists non-flushable wipes, such as baby wipes or other wet wipes, as never flush. GOJO and Crocodile Cloth say not to flush, and the Tub O’ Towels, Scott and GOJO labels carry a do-not-flush mark.
Do heavy duty cleaning wipes disinfect?
No. Tub O’ Towels says its wipes don’t disinfect and have no antibacterial properties, and Crocodile Cloth says its Fierce line is its only disinfectant. Wash with soap and water after sewer or drain work.
How big is a Tub O’ Towels wipe?
The TW90 wipe is 10 by 12 in, per its listing. Tub O’ Towels’ own 40-count canister lists a 7 by 8 in wipe, so check the count on the can.
What’s the difference between Tub O’ Towels TW90 and TW75?
The TW90 has 90 wipes of one fiber-weave texture. The TW75 Dual Texture has 75 wipes with a smooth side and a rough side, the same 10 by 12 in size, and what the listing calls its Bond Buster formula.
Are Big Wipes reusable?
Big Wipes’ site says its current Pro+ cloth can be machine washed at 40°C and re-wet with its Power Spray. The Amazon listing doesn’t mention washing, so don’t count on it for that tub.
Are Crocodile Cloth wipes made in the USA?
Crocodile Cloth says they’re made in the USA of domestic and imported materials. GOJO lists the United States as the country of manufacture for its Scrubbing Towels.
Can I use heavy duty wipes on a chrome faucet or acrylic tub?
Scott says its Xtreme wipe is safe on acrylic, stainless steel, ceramic, glass and chrome. Crocodile Cloth says to test a small hidden spot first. On a new finish, use the smooth side and test a corner.
Do heavy duty wipes dry out?
Keep the lid shut. Tub O’ Towels says its VaporLock lid stops evaporation, GOJO’s nozzle has a re-wetting design, and Crocodile Cloth says its cloths stay wet out of the pack for over an hour.
How we picked these
Why trust me
I’m Isaac Daniels, a licensed journeyman plumber in Georgia (license #JP507711), and I’ve used all five picks. Every spec here comes from Crocodile Cloth’s, Tub O’ Towels’, Big Wipes’, GOJO’s and Kimberly-Clark Professional’s own pages, the brands’ Amazon listings and the pack labels, read Oct 22, 2026. Where I add advice of my own, it’s labeled as my call.
How I pick
Only genuine brand pre-wet heavy-duty wipes for hands and surfaces, new and in stock on Amazon, checked through Amazon’s product data the same night.
Each listing’s photo, item number and count were matched to the maker’s own pages.
Specs from each maker’s page first, then the brand’s listing text and pack label. Where they differ, the gap is in the listing errors table.
Each card’s spec score comes from the five checks below. All five score 7.0 or higher.
