For a copper farmhouse sink, the Sinkology Lange 32 is 17-gauge hand-hammered copper for a 36-inch cabinet; for a standard sink base, the Sinkology Orwell 30 is a 16-gauge undermount sink for a 33-inch cabinet. Expect copper to darken into a patina over time, and clean it gently with mild soap and a soft sponge.

Copper kitchen sinks compared
| Sink | Style and copper | Size, bowl and cabinet |
|---|---|---|
| Sinkology Lange 32 | Farmhouse apron, 17-gauge | 32 × 21.5 × 8 in.; bowl 30 × 19 × 7.25 in.; 36 in. cabinet |

A copper sink is a statement piece, and it behaves differently from stainless or fireclay. It changes color over time, it reacts to acids and harsh cleaners, and it needs support like any undermount sink. The plumbing underneath is standard: both sinks here list a 3.5-inch drain opening, which fits a standard kitchen basket strainer or disposal flange.
We link two Sinkology sinks whose Amazon model numbers match Sinkology’s own pages. Several other copper sink listings were left out because their model numbers did not match the maker’s.
Sinkology Lange 32: copper farmhouse sink
Choose the Sinkology Lange 32 for an apron-front farmhouse look. Sinkology lists (sinkology.com) model SEK307-33AC in hand-hammered 17-gauge solid copper, 32 × 21.5 × 8 inches overall with a single 30 × 19 × 7.25-inch bowl, a 3.5-inch drain, a recommended 36-inch cabinet, sound-dampening pads and a lifetime warranty. Sinkology describes the bowl as shallow to take up less cabinet space, and its Antique Copper finish as a medium-to-light aged tone.
Sinkology says copper farmhouse sinks need dedicated support under the sink and that existing cabinets may need modification for the apron. Our farmhouse sink guide covers cabinet prep.

Patina: copper changes color, and that is normal
Copper reacts with air and water and darkens over time. Sinkology says (sinkology.com) every copper sink develops a living patina and that this natural aging is not a defect. Expect lighter spots where water or food sat, which blend back as the patina keeps developing.
If you want a copper sink that stays bright and shiny, copper is the wrong material: keeping it polished means fighting the patina constantly. If you like a finish that ages and looks lived-in, copper is a good fit.
Caring for a copper sink
Sinkology’s care advice (sinkology.com): rinse and dry the sink with a soft cloth after use to limit water spots and mineral buildup, and clean with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge. It says to avoid leaving acidic foods such as citrus, vinegar or tomato products sitting in the sink, and to avoid bleach, ammonia, abrasive pads, steel wool and harsh chemical cleaners, which can change the finish. Sinkology says those changes are cosmetic and usually blend back with use.
Watch what goes down the drain, too. Drain cleaners can splash, and many chemical drain openers are harsh. For a clog, use a plunger or snake first.
Gauge: what 16 and 17 mean
For sinks, a lower gauge number means thicker metal. Sinkology lists the Orwell in 16-gauge and the Lange in 17-gauge copper, so the Orwell’s metal is slightly thicker. Thicker copper resists dents better and feels more solid, but both are heavy-gauge for a hand-hammered sink.
Like any metal sink, copper can dent if you drop something heavy from height. The hammered texture helps hide small marks.
Drain, disposal and faucet
Both sinks list a 3.5-inch drain, the standard kitchen size. That fits a regular basket strainer or a disposal, so your trap and disposal stay standard. For a matching look, Sinkology sells strainers and disposal flanges in copper tones; our basket strainer guide covers how strainers seal.
Undermount and farmhouse sinks have no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts through the countertop. Warm metal tones like brass or bronze often pair well with copper; see our brass and gold kitchen faucet guide.
If you run a disposal, check that its mount fits the sink’s drain opening thickness; our disposal guide covers mounts.
Supporting the sink
Sinkology says copper is lighter than fireclay but still needs dedicated support under the sink. Farmhouse sinks traditionally sit on a wood frame inside the cabinet; Sinkology also sells an adjustable undermount sink support. Sinkology notes that every undermount sink relies on long-term support beneath the countertop, and a sink full of water and dishes adds a lot of weight.
Set the sink and support before the countertop is templated, and confirm the reveal and apron height with your countertop fabricator. Our undermount vs drop-in guide covers installation differences.
Copper vs other sink materials
Stainless is the low-maintenance default. Fireclay and enameled cast iron have a glossy surface that keeps its color. Granite composite comes in solid colors and hides spots. Copper is the one that changes over time and asks for gentler cleaning. Our sink material comparison covers the others, and our kitchen sink guide covers brands and sizes.
Before you order a copper sink
Measure the inside width of your sink base cabinet and compare it with the maker’s recommended cabinet size: 36 inches for the Lange 32 and 33 inches for the Orwell 30. For a farmhouse sink, also check the apron height against your cabinet face frame, since the cabinet front usually has to be cut down.
Download the maker’s spec sheet and installation instructions from the product page and give them to your countertop fabricator before templating. Handmade sinks vary slightly, so many fabricators prefer to have the actual sink on site before cutting the countertop. Plan the faucet location on the counter at the same time, so the spout reaches the center of the bowl.

How we chose
This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read Sinkology’s product pages for the Lange 32 and Orwell 30, including their care and installation answers.
