Best Kohler Toilets (2026): Cimarron, Wellworth, Memoirs

Plumbing Picks is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Quick answer from a licensed plumber: Buy the Kohler Cimarron K-31621 for most bathrooms. It is Comfort Height, flushes 1.28 gallons with Kohler’s Revolution 360 flushing and an AquaPiston canister, and scores 1,000 g on MaP. Warranty needs confirmation: the K-31621 sheet names one year, while Kohler’s broader toilet warranty gives longer terms for toilets made after January 1, 2020. Ask Kohler which applies before choosing by coverage length. For a lower seat and tank locks, the Wellworth K-3998-T. For a one-piece with the seat included, the Memoirs Stately K-6428. For a small room, the round-front Highline K-5481. For tall users, the Highline Tall K-25224.

Our pick for most bathrooms: the Kohler Cimarron K-31621, with a 1,000 g MaP score, Comfort Height and Kohler’s Revolution 360 flushing with an AquaPiston canister. Check the Kohler Cimarron K-31621 on Amazon

Kohler sells toilets under many collection names, and every Kohler on this page scores the same on the MaP list: 1,000 g. So flush power does not pick a Kohler for you. What does: the flush system, which decides the repair parts; the seat height; the bowl shape and depth; and the warranty, which Kohler splits by collection. Our best toilet guide ranks toilets across brands. This page is for buyers who have already settled on Kohler. Every pick below is 1.28 gallons per flush, lists EPA WaterSense on Kohler’s sheet and has a 1,000 g MaP score.

From Kohler’s spec sheets, Kohler’s toilet warranty sheet and the MaP list linked below, read on October 3, 2026. Heights are floor to bowl rim on Kohler’s drawings, without a seat. Every linked listing was sold by Amazon.com and in stock that day. The Wellworth, Memoirs and Highline sheets point to Kohler’s toilet warranty, with a lifetime limited warranty on the china in a home; the Cimarron sheet names a one-year warranty. That conflicts with the broader toilet warranty’s post-2020 terms. These warranty references were rechecked October 7, 2026; the stock observations above remain dated October 3.

How to Choose a Kohler Toilet

Flush system: Class Five or AquaPiston

Kohler’s sheets name the flush type. The Highline and Wellworth picks are Class Five. The Cimarron and Memoirs picks are AquaPiston, and the Cimarron K-31621 adds what Kohler calls Revolution 360 flushing technology. Kohler says the AquaPiston canister needs less force to flush than a 3 in. flapper and has 90% less exposed seal material, which it says resists wear, shrinkage and swelling. MaP scores the five picks the same, so this choice is mostly about the parts you buy later. Plumber’s note: when a Kohler starts running, the fix depends on which system it has. Our Kohler flapper guide matches flappers to Kohler’s part numbers, the Kohler canister seal guide covers AquaPiston and other canister models, and the Kohler fill valve guide sorts the fill valve kits by collection.

Seat height: standard, Comfort Height or Tall

Kohler’s drawings give the rim height without a seat. The Wellworth K-3998-T is 14-1/2 in. The Comfort Height picks (Cimarron, Memoirs, Highline K-5481) are 16-1/2 in. The Highline Tall K-25224 is 19 in. A seat adds to every one of those numbers. The 2010 ADA Standards measure to the top of the seat and set 17 to 19 in., or 15 to 19 in. in the residential dwelling units the Standards cover. Where the ADA rules apply, the Cimarron, Memoirs and Highline K-5481 sheets list ADA compliance when installed to the regulation’s requirements. The Wellworth K-3998-T and Highline Tall sheets do not. The full height comparison is in comfort height vs standard toilet.

Warranty: the collection changes it

Four of the five sheets here (Wellworth, Memoirs and both Highlines) point to the KOHLER Toilets and Seats Limited Warranty. For toilets made after January 1, 2020, in a home, it covers the vitreous china for life and the mechanical parts for ten years. The exception is Wellworth, Highline, Kingston, Kelston and wall-hung toilets, whose mechanical parts get five years. Touchless and ContinuousClean parts and seats get one year. Commercial installs get shorter terms. Kohler also says in-tank cleaners void the warranty unless used properly with a Continuous Clean unit. Kohler’s current version (updated September 2025) covers only the original buyer, keeps the china coverage only while that buyer owns the home, and applies only to toilets bought from Kohler or a Kohler authorized seller.

The Cimarron K-31621 sheet names the KOHLER One-Year Limited Warranty. The broader toilet warranty covers toilets made after January 1, 2020 and does not name Cimarron as an exclusion. We cannot settle that conflict from these documents: confirm the applicable china and mechanical coverage with Kohler for your model and seller. Do not rank the Cimarron by warranty length. The Pressure Lite sheets also name a one-year warranty; we compare those models in our pressure-assist toilet guide. Plumber’s note: keep the receipt. Kohler requires proof of purchase for every claim, and it does not pay for labor.

Bowl shape and room size

Measure from the wall behind the toilet to whatever is in front of it. Kohler’s drawings give each toilet’s overall length: 27-3/4 in. for the round-front Highline K-5481 and the compact elongated Memoirs, 28-15/16 in. for the Cimarron, 29-1/2 in. for the Highline Tall, and 30 in. for the Wellworth. The same drawings show a gap of 1/2 in. to 1-1/8 in. between the tank and the finished wall, so add that to find where the bowl ends. For more on the shape trade-off, see round vs elongated toilets.

Rough-in: Kohler makes 10 in. models

All five picks are 12 in. rough-in, measured from the finished wall to the center of the drain. For a 10 in. rough-in, Kohler makes the Highline K-3889, a Comfort Height 1.28-gallon toilet at 1,000 g on MaP (Highline K-3889 on Amazon), and sells K-5383 and K-5381 kits that set the skirted Memoirs at 10 in. or 14 in. Our rough-in guide shows how to measure.

Dual flush and skirted Kohlers

For a dual flush, Kohler’s Wellworth K-3988 uses a nested trip lever with a choice of 1.1 or 1.6 gallons, and MaP lists it at 1,000 g (Wellworth K-3988 on Amazon). Check your state’s limits first; our single flush vs dual flush page covers the trade-offs. For two-piece skirted Kohlers such as the Corbelle, see our skirted toilet picks.

Top Pick: Best Kohler for Most Bathrooms

Kohler Cimarron K-31621 Comfort Height Two-Piece Toilet

1.28 gpf, EPA WaterSense · Revolution 360 flushing + AquaPiston canister · 2-1/8 in. fully glazed trapway · MaP 1,000 g · Comfort Height, 16-1/2 in. to the rim on Kohler’s drawing · elongated · 12 in. rough-in · CleanCoat surface treatment · Warranty documents conflict; confirm K-31621 coverage with Kohler · seat and supply line sold separately

Of the two-piece Kohlers here, the Cimarron is the one with the most of Kohler’s own features on its sheet. Kohler’s sheet lists two flush features together: Revolution 360 flushing technology, which it says “generates a forceful swirling motion to keep the bowl clean longer,” and an AquaPiston canister in the tank. Kohler says the canister needs less force to flush than a 3 in. flapper and has 90% less exposed seal material. It adds CleanCoat, which Kohler says inhibits water scale and mineral stains, and a sanitary guard where the tank meets the bowl. MaP lists the K-31621 at 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons.

Confirm the warranty before buying. The K-31621 sheet names one year, but Kohler’s broader warranty gives lifetime limited china coverage and generally ten years for mechanical parts in eligible post-2020 residential toilets. Its five-year collection list does not name Cimarron. These documents do not establish which terms govern this model. Ask Kohler to confirm the china, mechanical and seat coverage for your purchase and seller; we are not calling it shorter than the other picks.

Kohler’s drawing puts the bowl rim 16-1/2 in. off the floor and the 3/8 in. NPT supply 5 in. up and 5 in. left of center. The sheet says it is ADA compliant “when installed to the specific requirements” of the regulation. The Cimarron is also the Kohler pick in our best toilet guide, which compares it with TOTO and American Standard.

  • Revolution 360 flushing plus AquaPiston canister, per Kohler
  • MaP 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons
  • ADA compliant when installed to the rules, per Kohler’s sheet
  • CleanCoat and a sanitary guard at the tank joint, per Kohler
  • Seat and supply line sold separately
  • The canister seal is a Kohler part, not a universal flapper
  • 12 in. rough-in only on this sheet
  • Warranty coverage unresolved between Kohler’s documents

Verdict: The Kohler to buy if you want the most complete flush features of the two-piece Kohlers here; confirm the warranty and budget for a seat and supply line before ordering.

Best Standard-Height Kohler, Tank Locks Included

Kohler Wellworth K-3998-T Two-Piece Toilet

1.28 gpf, EPA WaterSense · Class Five flush · 2-1/8 in. fully glazed trapway · MaP 1,000 g · standard height, 14-1/2 in. to the rim on Kohler’s drawing · elongated · 12 in. rough-in · three-bolt quick-connect · tank cover locks included · lifetime limited china, 5-year mechanical warranty (home use) · seat and supply line sold separately

The Wellworth is Kohler’s plainer two-piece, and the K-3998-T version adds tank cover locks. That is the detail that makes it the pick for a rental or a shared bathroom where the lid tends to walk off. Kohler lists a Class Five flush, a 2-1/8 in. fully glazed trapway and its three-bolt quick-connect tank mounting. MaP lists the K-3998, which pairs the same K-4198 bowl with the lockless tank, at 1,000 g, the same score as the Cimarron.

It is the only standard-height toilet on this page. Kohler’s drawing puts the rim 14-1/2 in. off the floor, two inches lower than the Comfort Height picks (our arithmetic). That suits kids, shorter adults and anyone who wants their feet flat on the floor. The sheet does not list ADA among its codes and standards, so do not use it where accessibility is required. The drawing puts the supply 5 in. up and 4-1/2 in. left of center, and the overall length is 30 in. Under Kohler’s warranty sheet, Wellworth mechanical parts get five years in a home, not ten.

  • Tank cover locks in the box, per Kohler
  • MaP 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons
  • Lower 14-1/2 in. rim for kids and shorter adults
  • Three-bolt quick-connect tank
  • Five-year mechanical warranty under Kohler’s toilet warranty, not ten
  • Not listed for ADA on Kohler’s sheet
  • Seat and supply line sold separately
  • 30 in. long overall, the longest on this page

Verdict: The Kohler for a rental, a kids’ bath or anyone who wants a lower seat, with the same MaP score as the Cimarron.

Best Kohler One-Piece, Seat Included

Kohler Memoirs Stately K-6428 Skirted One-Piece Toilet

1.28 gpf, EPA WaterSense · AquaPiston canister · 2-1/8 in. trapway · MaP 1,000 g · Comfort Height, 16-1/2 in. to the rim · compact elongated, 27-3/4 in. long overall · skirted trapway with ReadyLock mounting · Quiet-Close seat included · 12 in. rough-in (10 in. and 14 in. kits sold separately) · lifetime limited china, 10-year mechanical warranty (home use) · supply line sold separately

This is the Kohler for a bathroom you want to wipe down fast. Tank and bowl are one casting, the trapway is skirted, and the seat comes in the box. Kohler’s sheet calls the bowl “compact elongated,” which it says gives added comfort “while occupying the same space as a round-front bowl.” The drawing gives 27-3/4 in. of overall length, plus a 1/2 in. gap behind the tank. It flushes with Kohler’s AquaPiston canister, and MaP lists the K-6428 at 1,000 g.

Kohler’s ReadyLock system mounts the skirted bowl, and Kohler says it “eliminates the need to drill into the floor” on a standard 12 in. rough-in. Kohler sells K-5383 and K-5381 kits for 10 in. and 14 in. rough-ins. The skirt changes where the supply has to be: the drawing puts it 6-5/8 in. up and 6-1/2 in. left of center, so measure your stop before you order. The sheet lists ADA compliance when installed to the regulation’s requirements, and Memoirs is not on the warranty sheet’s five-year list. Our skirted toilet guide covers more skirted Kohlers and how the skirt mounts. Stock on the linked listing was short on October 3, 2026, so read the listing before you plan the install day.

  • One-piece and skirted for easier cleaning, per Kohler
  • Quiet-Close seat included
  • MaP 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons
  • Kohler sells 10 in. and 14 in. rough-in kits
  • Supply spot is set by the skirt: 6-5/8 in. up, 6-1/2 in. left
  • Compact bowl has a smaller water surface (9-5/8 x 7-3/8 in.) than the Cimarron
  • The canister seal is a Kohler part
  • Linked listing was low on stock on October 3, 2026

Verdict: The Kohler to buy for a one-piece, skirted bowl with the seat included and the ten-year mechanical warranty.

Best Kohler for a Small Bathroom

Kohler Highline K-5481-RA Round-Front Comfort Height Toilet

1.28 gpf, EPA WaterSense · Class Five flush · 2-1/8 in. fully glazed trapway · MaP 1,000 g · Comfort Height, 16-1/2 in. to the rim · round-front, 27-3/4 in. long overall · 12 in. rough-in · three-bolt quick-connect · right-hand trip lever (K-5481 is left-hand) · lifetime limited china, 5-year mechanical warranty (home use) · seat and supply line sold separately

A round-front bowl is the way to get chair-height seating into a powder room. Kohler’s sheet says its round-front bowl “offers an ideal solution for smaller bathrooms and powder rooms,” and the drawing gives 27-3/4 in. of overall length. That is about an inch shorter than the elongated Cimarron (28-15/16 in.) and 2-1/4 in. shorter than the Wellworth (30 in.), from Kohler’s drawings (our arithmetic). It is still Comfort Height at a 16-1/2 in. rim, with a Class Five flush and a 2-1/8 in. trapway. MaP lists the K-5481 at 1,000 g.

MaP’s row for the K-5481 labels the bowl elongated, but it names the same K-5393 bowl that Kohler’s sheet calls round-front, so we follow Kohler. The linked listing is the K-5481-RA, with the trip lever and supply on the right; Kohler’s K-5481 sheet is the left-hand version. Kohler’s drawing puts the supply 5 in. up and 4-5/8 in. from center. The sheet lists ADA compliance when installed to the regulation’s requirements, but also notes that plumbing codes may require elongated toilets and open-front seats in public bathrooms. That note is about public bathrooms; for a home, see round vs elongated toilets for the trade-off.

  • Shortest two-piece here at 27-3/4 in. long overall
  • Comfort Height in a round-front bowl
  • MaP 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons
  • Right- and left-hand lever versions
  • Round bowl is less room to sit than elongated
  • Public bathrooms may require elongated bowls, per Kohler’s note
  • Five-year mechanical warranty (Highline)
  • Seat and supply line sold separately

Verdict: The Kohler for a tight powder room where you still want chair-height seating.

Tallest Kohler Two-Piece

Kohler Highline Tall K-25224 Elongated Toilet

1.28 gpf, EPA WaterSense · Class Five flush · 2-1/8 in. trapway · MaP 1,000 g · Tall height, 19 in. to the rim on Kohler’s drawing · elongated · 12 in. rough-in · three-bolt quick-connect · lifetime limited china, 5-year mechanical warranty (home use) · seat and supply line sold separately

Kohler’s sheet says the Highline Tall seats you 2-1/2 in. higher than Comfort Height “for enhanced comfort, ease of sitting and standing.” Its drawing puts the rim 19 in. off the floor. The Amazon listing says 2 in. higher; we follow Kohler’s sheet. It is the Kohler for tall users and for people who struggle to stand from a chair-height bowl. MaP lists the K-25224 at 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons.

Know what this height means before you buy it. The 2010 ADA Standards measure seat height to the top of the seat, at 17 to 19 in. A 19 in. rim is already at that top limit before a seat goes on, and Kohler’s K-25224 sheet does not list ADA among its standards. So this is a comfort choice for your own home, not the one to specify where ADA applies. The supply is higher than on the other picks: 7-1/2 in. up and 4-5/8 in. left of center on the drawing. Kohler’s current sheet lists it in White, Biscuit and Black Black; the linked listing is White (K-25224-0).

  • 19 in. rim, the tallest Kohler two-piece we found
  • MaP 1,000 g on 1.28 gallons
  • Class Five flush and three-bolt tank
  • Elongated bowl
  • Above the ADA seat-height range once a seat is on (our arithmetic)
  • Too tall for kids and shorter adults
  • Five-year mechanical warranty (Highline)
  • Kohler’s sheet and the listing differ on the height gain

Verdict: The Kohler for tall users who find chair height too low, in a home where ADA rules do not apply.

Before You Buy

  1. Measure the rough-in. All five picks need 12 in. from the finished wall to the drain center. At 10 in., look at the Highline K-3889.
  2. Measure the room depth. Compare your space with the overall lengths above, 27-3/4 in. to 30 in., plus the 1/2 in. to 1-1/8 in. gap Kohler draws behind the tank.
  3. Pick the height for the people using it. Rim heights run 14-1/2 in. to 19 in. Add the seat thickness.
  4. Check the shutoff location. Kohler’s drawings put the supply 5 in. up on the Cimarron, Wellworth and Highline K-5481, 6-5/8 in. up on the skirted Memoirs, and 7-1/2 in. up on the Highline Tall.
  5. Count the parts. Only the Memoirs includes a seat. All five need a supply line and a wax ring; four of the five sheets list Kohler’s 1023457 wax ring and hardware kit as an accessory.

Installing a Kohler Toilet

The steps are a standard toilet swap: shut off the water, drain the tank and bowl, pull the old toilet, scrape the flange, set a new wax ring, then set and bolt the bowl. The Highline and Wellworth sheets list Kohler’s three-bolt quick-connect tank mounting. The skirted Memoirs mounts on ReadyLock hardware instead of open bolts. For back-to-back toilets on one stack, every sheet here says to use a 45° double wye fitting, not a double sanitary tee. Our toilet replacement guide walks through the whole job.

Plumber’s note: if the flange sits below the finished floor, fix that before you set any toilet; see toilet flange too low. If the shutoff will not close all the way, replace it while the old toilet is off. Moving the drain or the supply stub-out is a job for a licensed plumber; ask your local building department whether it needs a permit.

FAQ

Which Kohler toilet is best?

For most bathrooms, the Cimarron K-31621: Comfort Height, 1.28 gallons, Revolution 360 flushing with an AquaPiston canister and a 1,000 g MaP score; its warranty documents conflict, so confirm coverage with Kohler. For a lower seat and tank locks, the Wellworth K-3998-T. For a one-piece with the seat included, the Memoirs Stately K-6428.

What is the difference between Kohler Cimarron, Highline and Wellworth?

On Kohler’s sheets for the models here, the Cimarron K-31621 uses an AquaPiston canister with Revolution 360 flushing, and the Highline and Wellworth toilets use Class Five. The Highline picks here are Comfort Height or Tall, and the Wellworth K-3998-T is standard height. The warranty also differs: Kohler’s toilet warranty gives Highline and Wellworth mechanical parts five years in a home and Memoirs ten, but the Cimarron sheet conflicts with that broader warranty. Confirm its coverage rather than assuming it is shorter.

Do Kohler toilets have a lifetime warranty?

Under Kohler’s Toilets and Seats Limited Warranty, eligible post-2020 residential toilets have lifetime limited china coverage while the original consumer buyer owns the home. Mechanical parts get ten years, or five for Wellworth, Highline, Kingston, Kelston and wall-hung models; touchless and Continuous Clean components and seats get one year. Pre-2020 toilets not otherwise separately warranted have one year. The policy limits coverage to the original buyer and purchases from Kohler or an authorized seller, unless prohibited by law. The K-31621 sheet instead names a one-year warranty. Those documents conflict: confirm its coverage with Kohler, rather than treating either term as established for your purchase.

Are Kohler Comfort Height toilets ADA compliant?

Several Kohler sheets, including the Cimarron, Highline K-5481 and Memoirs here, say ADA compliant when installed to the specific requirements of the regulation. The 2010 ADA Standards set the seat top at 17 to 19 in., the flush control on the open side and the toilet 16 to 18 in. from the side wall. The Wellworth K-3998-T and Highline Tall K-25224 sheets do not list ADA.

Does Kohler make a 10-inch rough-in toilet?

Yes. The Highline K-3889 is a Comfort Height, 1.28-gallon, 10 in. rough-in toilet, and MaP lists it at 1,000 g. The K-3889 is on Amazon. For the skirted Memoirs, Kohler sells a K-5383 10 in. rough-in kit. Measure first with our rough-in guide.
