“Low flow” usually means a shower head rated below the 2.5 gpm federal maximum. Every head here is rated at 1.5 gpm and carries the EPA WaterSense label, per its maker. A lower flow uses less water and less hot water per minute. If your concern is weak pressure rather than water use, see our high-pressure shower head guide.

Kohler Awaken G110 K-72419-H: three sprays at 1.5 gpm

Choose the Awaken G110 for three spray modes on a 1.5 gpm head. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists wide coverage, intense drenching and targeted sprays changed with a thumb tab, a MasterClean sprayface that Kohler says withstands mineral buildup, a 1.5 gpm rated maximum flow and a 1/2-inch NPT connection.

It lists a 4-5/16-inch face and a 2-15/16-inch depth, compliance with EPA WaterSense and the 1992 Energy Policy Act, and Kohler’s faucet lifetime limited warranty. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 72419-H-CP, polished chrome. More in our Kohler shower head guide.

Kohler Awaken G90 K-72416: simple single spray

Choose the Awaken G90 for a compact single-spray 1.5 gpm head. Kohler’s spec sheet (resources.kohler.com) lists a full-coverage spray across a 3-9/16-inch sprayhead, the MasterClean sprayface, a 1.5 gpm rated maximum flow and a 1/2-14 NPT connection, with the shower arm and flange sold separately.

It lists a 2-5/8-inch depth, EPA WaterSense, and four finishes: polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black and brushed moderne brass. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com was in stock with model 72416-CP, polished chrome.

Delta 52634-15-BG: five settings including pause

Choose the Delta 52634-15-BG for multiple sprays and a pause setting. Delta’s spec sheet (media.deltafaucet.com) lists a 1.5 gpm maximum flow at 80 psi, a standard 1/2-inch pipe fitting, and five settings changed with a dial: full body, fast massage, full spray with massage, high-efficiency spray and pause. Delta notes the pause is a non-positive shut-off, so it slows water to a trickle rather than stopping it fully.

It lists Touch-Clean spray holes, a 3-11/16-inch face, EPA WaterSense, and a lifetime limited warranty on parts and finish for residential buyers. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model 52634-15-BG, chrome. More in our Delta shower head guide.

Delta H2Okinetic RP70175-15: larger single spray

Choose the RP70175-15 for Delta’s H2Okinetic spray at 1.5 gpm. Delta’s water-efficient shower head sheet (media.deltafaucet.com) covers several RP7017x models. It lists the RP70175-15 at a 1.5 gpm maximum flow at 80 psi, with H2Okinetic PowerDrench spray, a standard 1/2-inch fitting and EPA WaterSense.

The same sheet lists 1.75 and 2.0 gpm versions of this head under different suffixes, so check for the “-15” at the end of the model number. The warranty is the same lifetime limited parts and finish warranty as the 52634. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Amazon.com showed limited stock with model RP70175-15, chrome.

Speakman Reaction S-4000-E15: built for low pressure

Choose the Reaction for a single pulsating spray Speakman designed for low-pressure homes. Speakman’s product page (speakman.com) describes the S-4000-E15 as a 1.5 gpm single-function shower head with a turbine-powered engine and a transparent dusk blue frame, WaterSense certified, and says it is engineered to perform with low water pressure.

Speakman’s product page also offers a 1.75 gpm variation, so confirm the E15 suffix. On October 15, 2026, the standard new offer sold by Direct Supply Store was in stock with model S-4000-E15. More in our Speakman shower head guide.

What 1.5 gpm means

Flow rate is the most water a shower head lets through per minute at a test pressure. Kohler lists 1.5 gpm as its rated maximum flow; Delta lists 1.5 gpm at 80 psi. At lower home pressure the actual flow can be lower. Federal law caps new shower heads at 2.5 gpm, and Kohler’s sheets list the 1992 Energy Policy Act among their standards. Some areas set lower limits; Kohler also lists California Energy Commission compliance for both Awaken heads.

Keeping the spray clean

Low-flow heads push water through small nozzles, so mineral buildup can change the spray over time. The makers address this differently. Kohler lists a MasterClean sprayface on both Awaken heads, which it says withstands mineral buildup and maximizes spray performance. Delta lists Touch-Clean spray holes on the 52634-15-BG. Speakman does not describe a nozzle-cleaning feature on its Reaction page. Kohler also lists its K-23723 faucet cleaner as a recommended accessory. If you have hard water, check our water hardness test kit guide to see how hard it is.

Installing a new shower head

All five heads use a standard 1/2-inch shower arm thread. Remove the old head, clean the arm threads, wrap them with thread seal tape, and hand-tighten the new head, finishing with a wrench over a cloth if needed. See our thread seal tape guide. If the arm is too short or too low, a shower arm extender can help. Kohler sells its Awaken G90 without an arm or flange.
