A vessel sink sits on top of the counter instead of in it. That changes three things: the faucet must be tall enough to clear the rim, the drain must match whether the sink has an overflow, and the counter height must allow for the bowl sitting on top.
Kohler Vox K-2660-1: rectangular with faucet deck
Choose the Kohler Vox K-2660-1 if you want a regular single-hole faucet. Kohler lists (resources.kohler.com) a 23 × 18-1/8-inch vitreous china vessel with a single 1-3/8-inch faucet hole on its own deck, an overflow, a 1-3/4-inch drain hole and a 22 × 13-1/4-inch bowl area with 3-3/4 inches of water depth. A counter cut-out template is required and included.
Because the faucet mounts on the sink’s deck, a standard-height single-hole faucet can work; check reach against the drawing. Kohler lists ADA and IAPMO certification when installed to those requirements.

Choose the Kohler Vox K-2661 for a compact square bowl. Kohler lists (resources.kohler.com) a 16-1/4-inch square vitreous china vessel with no faucet holes, so it needs a wall-mount or counter-mount faucet. It has an overflow, a 1-3/4-inch drain hole and a 15-3/4-inch square bowl area with 3-3/4 inches of water depth, and a required, included cut-out template.
Kohler’s note on the sheet is the key buying advice for any vessel: choose a faucet that gives adequate clearance and directs the stream to the center of the sink.

Kohler Composed K-73168-4: tall faucet with drain
Choose the Kohler Composed K-73168-4 for a deck-mounted vessel faucet with the drain included. Kohler lists (resources.kohler.com) a tall single-handle faucet with a 7-1/8-inch spout reach, 1.2 gpm maximum flow at 60 psi, ceramic disc valve, preattached flexible supply lines with 3/8-inch compression fittings, and a pop-up drain with a 1-1/4-inch tailpiece. The sheet lists the drain as a drain with overflow, and its drawing shows a 2-1/2-inch maximum mounting thickness.

Choose the Moen Align 6192 for a slim, tall faucet. Moen’s spec sheet (maker page: assets.moen.com/shared/docs/product-specifications/6192sp.pdf) lists a single-handle vessel lavatory faucet for one hole at least 1-1/4 inches across, a 4-1/2-inch spout reach, the spout outlet about 9 inches above the deck, 24-inch flexible supply lines with 3/8-inch compression fittings, a 1255 Duralast cartridge and 1.2 gpm maximum at 60 psi.

Overflow or no overflow: buy the right drain
Vessel sinks come with and without an overflow hole. A sink with an overflow needs a drain with slots that let overflow water reach the drain; a sink without one takes a drain without overflow slots. Both Kohler Vox sinks here list an overflow, and the Kohler Composed faucet’s drain is listed as a drain with overflow.

Faucet height and reach
The spout outlet has to sit above the vessel rim with room for your hands, and the stream should land near the center of the bowl. Compare three numbers: the sink’s height above the counter, the faucet’s spout height and the spout reach.
Measure from the faucet hole to the drain center on the layout. Kohler’s Composed reaches 7-1/8 inches; Moen’s Align reaches 4-1/2 inches. A short reach on a deep, wide bowl puts the stream near the back edge.

Counter height and installation
Kohler notes its vessels rest on the countertop and says to consider height when designing the installation. A vessel on a standard-height vanity puts the rim higher than an undermount sink would, so some people use a lower vanity. Check the rim height you will end up with before you buy the cabinet.
Cut the counter with the maker’s template; Kohler says its template is required. Set the sink on the sealant or gasket the maker calls for, install the drain, then mount the faucet and connect supplies. Our supply line guide covers lines if the faucet does not include them.
Vessel, undermount or drop-in?
Vessels show off the bowl but need a matched tall faucet and drain, and they can splash if the stream does not land near the center.
