For a 1.28-gallon toilet, pick the Zurn Z6000-HET. For a toilet rated 1.6 gallons, pick the Z6000-WS1. For urinals, pick the Z6003-WS1 at 1.0 gallon or the Z6003-EWS at 0.5 gallon. Match the flush volume to the fixture, and check the 11-1/2-inch rough-in.

| Valve | Fixture | Flush | Supply |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z6000-HET-YB-YC | Toilet | 1.28 gpf (WaterSense option) | 1 in. |
| Z6000-WS1-YB-YC | Toilet | 1.6 gpf | 1 in. |
| Z6003-WS1-YB-YC | Urinal | 1.0 gpf | 3/4 in. |
| Z6003-EWS-YB-YC | Urinal | 0.5 gpf (WaterSense option) | 3/4 in. |
A Zurn flush valve, also called a flushometer, flushes a toilet or urinal straight from the supply line with no tank. The Z6000 is Zurn’s exposed toilet valve and the Z6003 its urinal valve. The letters after the model name set the flush volume, so the main choice is matching gallons per flush to your bowl or urinal.
Zurn Z6000-HET: 1.28-gallon toilet valve
Choose the Z6000-HET for a high-efficiency 1.28-gallon toilet. Zurn’s Z6000 spec sheet (maker page: files.zurn.com/spec-sheets/z6000_spec.pdf) (revised October 1, 2026) describes an exposed, quiet diaphragm-type chrome flushometer with a chloramine-resistant dual-seal diaphragm and a clog-resistant bypass, an ADA-compliant non-hold-open, no-leak handle, chloramine-resistant internal seals, an adjustable tailpiece and a spud coupling and flange for a top-spud fixture. The control stop comes with a sweat solder kit and a wall flange with a set screw. The -HET suffix is 1.28 gpf, which Zurn marks as a WaterSense option.
The drawing shows a 1-inch supply 11-1/2 inches above the fixture spud, at least 2-1/4 inches from the finished wall to the valve, and 4-3/4 inches, plus or minus 1/2 inch, from the valve to the supply. Zurn notes the valve should be paired with a WaterSense fixture of compatible flush volume for the whole system to meet WaterSense.

Zurn Z6000-WS1: 1.6-gallon toilet valve
Choose the Z6000-WS1 to replace a valve on a toilet bowl rated for 1.6 gallons. It is the same Z6000 body as the HET with the -WS1 flow option, which Zurn lists at 1.6 gpf. Zurn does not mark the 1.6 gpf option as WaterSense. Zurn’s sheet says to pair each valve with a fixture of compatible flush volume, so match the valve to the flush the bowl is rated for rather than simply choosing the lowest number.
The Z6000 sheet also lists height options for a different rough-in: the standard valve is for 11-1/2 inches, and the -1, -2 and -3 suffixes are for 16, 24 and 27 inches. All four valves on this page are the standard 11-1/2-inch height.

Zurn Z6003-WS1 and Z6003-EWS: urinal valves
Choose the Z6003-WS1 for a 1.0-gallon urinal, or the Z6003-EWS for a 0.5-gallon urinal. Zurn’s Z6003 spec sheet (maker page: files.zurn.com/spec-sheets/z6003_spec.pdf) lists the same diaphragm design, chloramine-resistant seals, ADA-compliant non-hold-open handle, adjustable tailpiece, sweat solder kit and wall flange as the toilet valve, with a 3/4-inch supply. Its flow options are -ULF 0.125 gpf, -EWS 0.5 gpf, -WS1 1.0 gpf and standard 1.5 gpf; Zurn marks the 0.125 and 0.5 gpf options as WaterSense.
The Z6003 drawing shows the 3/4-inch supply 11-1/2 inches above the fixture spud and the same 2-1/4-inch minimum wall clearance. Zurn adds that the drawing dimensions are for reference only and should not be used for pre-plumbing, so rough in from the fixture maker’s and Zurn’s installation documents.

Reading a Zurn model number
Zurn builds the part number from the base model and suffixes. Z6000 is the toilet valve and Z6003 the urinal valve. The flow suffix sets the flush: for the Z6000, -HET is 1.28, -ONE is 1.1, -WS1 is 1.6 and no suffix is 3.5 gpf; for the Z6003, -ULF is 0.125, -EWS is 0.5, -WS1 is 1.0 and no suffix is 1.5 gpf.
Height suffixes -1, -2 and -3 change the rough-in. Other suffixes add options such as -H for a handle on the front, -L for a metal push button and -VC for a vandal-resistant stop cover. The -YB-YC on these listings is described by the sellers as a sweat solder kit and cast wall flange.
Before you install: a short checklist
Measure three things on the old valve before you order. First, the height from the top of the fixture spud up to the center of the supply: the standard Z6000 and Z6003 are drawn at 11-1/2 inches, and a taller rough-in needs a -1, -2 or -3 height version. Second, the supply size: 1 inch for the Z6000 toilet valves and 3/4 inch for the Z6003 urinal valves.
Third, the side offset from the valve to the supply, which Zurn draws at 4-3/4 inches, plus or minus 1/2 inch, with at least 2-1/4 inches from the finished wall to the valve.
Find the flush volume the bowl or urinal is rated for, from markings on the fixture or the fixture maker’s spec sheet, and buy the matching Zurn flow suffix. Zurn’s sheets link installation guide FV250 for both valves. The control stop includes a sweat solder kit for a copper supply; shut off the water to the restroom before you cut into the line, and flush the new supply line before you fit the valve, so solder debris and loose scale are not carried into it.
Zurn or Sloan?
Both brands make exposed manual diaphragm valves with an 11-1/2-inch standard rough-in, 1-inch toilet and 3/4-inch urinal supplies, and ADA non-hold-open handles. Replacing like for like keeps the existing supply and spud in place. Our Sloan flush valve guide compares Sloan’s Royal, Regal and GEM-2 valves.
For worn Zurn valves, a rebuild kit may be all you need; our Zurn flush valve repair kit guide matches kits to valves. For bowls and urinals, see our commercial toilet guide and Kohler urinal guide.

How we chose
This document-based guide makes no hands-on testing claim. We read Zurn’s Z6000 and Z6003 spec sheets and inspected their rough-in drawings, linked from Zurn’s product pages. On October 15, 2026, we checked each linked standard new Amazon offer for part number, seller, stock and an add-to-cart button. Sensor-operated Zurn valves were left out.
