Quick answer from a licensed plumber: For most kitchens, buy the Moen S665 wall-mount pot filler, or its traditional twin, the S664. Moen lists 5.5 gpm at 60 psi, the most flow here, a 24-3/8 in. reach and a standard 1/2 in. IPS connection, with a lifetime limited warranty to the original homeowner. For the clearest rough-in numbers, the Delta 1165LF is next. For a traditional look, the Kohler K-35744. If the wall behind the range cannot be opened, the deck-mount Kingston Brass KS4707PKL connects under the counter instead. Plan on a cold water supply: Delta, KRAUS and Kingston Brass say cold water only.
Our pick for most kitchens: the Moen S665 Modern wall-mount pot filler (S664 for a traditional kitchen). Check the Moen S665 on Amazon
A pot filler is a faucet on a folding, double-jointed arm, fed by a cold water line. It mounts on the wall behind the cooktop, or on the counter beside it, so you fill a stockpot where you cook instead of carrying it from the sink. The wall-mount kind needs a 1/2 in. supply pipe inside the wall, anchored to blocking. That makes it a remodel or new-construction job, or one for when the wall is already open. If the wall is finished and you will not open it, look at the deck-mount pick. Below you will find five pot fillers from Moen, Delta, Kohler, KRAUS and Kingston Brass, the rough-in numbers from each maker, and how to install one. For the main sink faucet, see our kitchen faucet picks, or our wall-mount kitchen faucet picks if the sink faucet will come out of the wall too.

From the Moen, Delta, Kohler, KRAUS and Kingston Brass documents listed below, read on September 29, 2026. Moen’s and Delta’s reach figures are from the wall to the center of the outlet on their drawings. Kohler, KRAUS and Kingston Brass do not show how they measure, so treat small differences as rough. Flow is each maker’s rating at 60 psi. Every linked listing was sold by Amazon.com and in stock when we checked.
Models we read but did not link
Kohler K-35745 (contemporary twin of the K-35744). Its spec sheet contradicts itself on flow. The features list says 5.2 gpm at 60 psi. The technical section on page two says 3.2 gal/min. The Amazon listing we checked was also unclear: its title gave model 35745-VS with a Polished Nickel finish, and the listing data gave model 35745-SN. We linked the K-35744 instead, since its sheet says 5.2 gpm in both places.
Moen S665 in Spot Resist Stainless, Brushed Gold and Bronzed Gold. When we opened these listings, a third-party seller had the buy box with three or fewer units left, so we linked the Amazon-sold Matte Black S665 and Oil Rubbed Bronze S664 instead. Unbranded pot fillers. Many search results came from brands with no spec sheet or install manual we could find, so we skipped them.
How to Choose a Pot Filler
Wall mount or deck mount
A wall-mount pot filler hangs over the cooktop and folds flat against the wall. It needs a supply pipe in the wall behind the range. A deck-mount pot filler stands on the counter next to the range and connects underneath like a faucet, with a supply line and a shut-off valve. Kingston Brass says its deck-mount model goes through a 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in. countertop hole (see kitchen faucet hole sizes). Choose wall-mount if the wall is open or you are remodeling. Choose deck-mount if the wall is finished and there is a cold line under the counter.
Reach
Reach decides whether the spout gets to the front burners. Moen’s drawing shows 24-3/8 in. and Delta’s shows 21-9/16 in., both from the wall to the center of the outlet. Delta calls its spout 24 in., but on the drawing that length runs to the end of the arm, past the outlet. Kohler lists 23-3/16 in., and KRAUS 23-5/8 in. on its product page (21-1/2 in. on Amazon). Kingston says its deck-mount spout extends up to 21-11/16 in. Plumber’s note: measure from the wall at the planned stub-out to the center of the front burner you use most, and pick a reach that covers it with the arm slightly bent.
Flow rate
Moen rates the S665 at 5.5 gpm and Kohler rates the K-35744 at 5.2 gpm, both at 60 psi. Delta and KRAUS list 4.0 gpm and Kingston 3.0 gpm. At full rated flow, filling 3 gallons takes about 33 seconds at 5.5 gpm, 45 seconds at 4.0 gpm and 60 seconds at 3.0 gpm (our arithmetic). Plumber’s note: the rating is at 60 psi, so a home with lower pressure or a long, small pipe run will see less. If your faucets are already weak, see how to fix low water pressure first.
Two controls
Every model here has two valves: one at the wall or the base, and one at the end of the arm. Delta says you can turn the water off at either one. KRAUS says both levers must be open for water to flow, to prevent spills. Moen says to turn off both handles when not in use. Plumber’s note: close the wall valve too, not just the spout lever. Then a worn spout cartridge cannot drip onto the stove.
Supply thread: IPS, NPT or NPSM
Moen and Delta call for a 1/2 in. IPS connection, and Kohler for a 1/2 NPT supply pipe. KRAUS and Kingston Brass list 1/2-14 NPSM. Plumber’s note: IPS and NPT are tapered pipe threads. NPSM is a straight thread with the same 14 threads per inch. Buy the faucet before the rough-in, and dry-fit its seat or shank on the stub you plan to use.
Moen S665 Modern and S664 Traditional Wall-Mount Pot Fillers
Wall mount · 5.5 gpm at 60 psi · 24-3/8 in. reach · 1/2 in. IPS connection · Moen 1224 cartridge · two levers, 180-degree turn from off to full flow · lifetime limited warranty to the original homeowner (5 years commercial) · traditional twin: S664
Moen’s spec sheet lists 5.5 gpm at 60 psi, the highest flow of the five pot fillers here, and a 24-3/8 in. reach from the wall to the center of the outlet on Moen’s drawing. It connects to a standard 1/2 in. IPS supply, the same threaded stub the Delta uses. Each lever turns counterclockwise through a 180-degree arc, off at 6 o’clock and full flow at 12 o’clock, per Moen. One lever is at the wall and one is at the end of the arm. Moen’s instructions end with one line: turn off both handles when not in use.
Moen’s install sheet shows the supply stub anchored to wood blocking between the studs, then extending 1/2 in., plus or minus 1/4 in., past the finished wall. It calls for thread seal tape on the stub and a strap wrench to fully tighten the body, which protects the finish. The warranty is Moen’s lifetime limited warranty against leaks, drips and finish defects to the original homeowner. It drops to 5 years for commercial use. The S664 is the traditional-style version, with the same 5.5 gpm, 24-3/8 in. reach and 1/2 in. IPS connection on its own spec sheet. We link the S665 in Matte Black and the S664 in Oil Rubbed Bronze, both sold by Amazon. When we opened the listings, the S665 in Spot Resist Stainless and in Brushed Gold were sold by third-party sellers with one unit left, so we did not link them.
- 5.5 gpm at 60 psi, the highest flow here, per Moen
- 24-3/8 in. reach, the longest wall-mount reach here
- Standard 1/2 in. IPS supply connection
- Lifetime limited warranty to the original homeowner
- Needs a supply line and blocking inside the wall
- Two levers to turn off after each use
- Several Moen finishes were sold by third-party sellers when we checked
- Warranty drops to 5 years in commercial use
Verdict: The pot filler to buy for most kitchens. It has the most flow and reach here and a standard 1/2 in. IPS connection.
Delta 1165LF Modern Wall-Mount Pot Filler
Wall mount · 4.0 gpm at 60 psi · 24 in. dual-jointed swing spout; 21-9/16 in. from the wall to the outlet on the drawing · 1/2 in. IPS inlet, rough into a 1/2 in. stub-out · 1 in. recommended wall hole · cold water only · ceramic valves, quarter turn · lifetime limited warranty on parts and finishes (5 years commercial)
Delta’s spec sheet gives the rough-in in plain numbers: rough into a 1/2 in. stub-out with 1/2 in. IPS threads, and drill a 1 in. hole in the wall. Its install sheet says the pipe should extend 1/2 in. past the finished wall and recommends stringers, meaning wood blocking between the studs, for a secure mount. Delta rates it at 4.0 gpm at 60 psi with a 24 in. dual-jointed swing spout. On Delta’s drawing, the outlet sits 21-9/16 in. from the wall; the 24-3/16 in. figure there runs to the end of the arm, past the outlet. Each handle opens with a quarter turn, and Delta says the dual shut-off lets you stop the water at either the wall or the spout.
Delta’s service parts are on the install sheet: a handle with valve cartridge (RP76953), the aerator (RP64633) and a wall mounting kit (RP76954). If the faucet leaks out of the spout or a handle, Delta says to replace the valve cartridge, a 19 mm hex. Delta’s warranty is lifetime limited on parts and finishes, or 5 years for commercial users. The listing we link is the Champagne Bronze finish (1165LF-CZ), sold by Amazon. When we checked, most other finishes were sold by third-party sellers.
- Clear rough-in numbers: 1/2 in. stub-out, 1/2 in. past the wall, 1 in. hole
- Quarter-turn handles; shut off at the wall or the spout, per Delta
- Delta lists the replacement cartridge, aerator and mounting kit by part number
- Lifetime limited warranty on parts and finishes
- 4.0 gpm, less flow than the Moen and Kohler
- The outlet sits 21-9/16 in. from the wall on Delta’s drawing, less than the 24 in. spout length suggests
- Cold water only, per Delta
- Needs blocking and a stub-out inside the wall
Verdict: The pick when you want the simplest rough-in instructions and a warm metal finish.
Kohler K-35744 Traditional Wall-Mount Pot Filler
Wall mount · 5.2 gpm at 60 psi · 23-3/16 in. swing spout reach · articulating spout, 360-degree rotation · 1/2 NPT supply pipe, no more than 1/2 in. past the finished wall · ceramic disc valves · Kohler Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty
Kohler lists 5.2 gpm at 60 psi and a 23-3/16 in. swing spout reach, with an articulating spout that rotates 360 degrees. Its install guide is the most specific about the wall. Install a 2×4 backing flush with the studs, secure the supply pipe to it, and center the pipe vertically in the backing. Then bring a 1/2 NPT supply pipe out no more than 1/2 in. past the finished wall, with a 1-5/16 in. hole around the pipe. The same guide lists a 1-5/8 in. hole saw in its tools, so confirm the hole size with Kohler (1-800-456-4537) before you cut tile. Kohler says to use a strap wrench to secure the faucet to the pipe.
The spec sheet describes a single lever handle with a main lever shutoff, and its drawing shows two levers, one at the wall and one at the end of the arm. The install guide says to open both handles to flush debris. Kohler says not to use petroleum-based products on the faucet. The warranty is the Kohler Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty. We link the 35744-2MB in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass, sold by Amazon. Kohler also makes a contemporary twin, the K-35745, which we did not link (see below the table).
- 5.2 gpm at 60 psi, per Kohler
- Install guide spells out the 2×4 backing and a 1/2 in. maximum stub-out
- Articulating spout with 360-degree rotation
- Kohler Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty
- Install guide gives a 1-5/16 in. wall hole but lists a 1-5/8 in. hole saw
- The stub can stick out no more than 1/2 in., so the finished wall thickness must be known first
- Needs blocking and a stub-out inside the wall
- No petroleum-based products on the faucet, per Kohler
Verdict: The pick for a traditional-style kitchen that wants near-Moen flow and Kohler’s clear backing instructions.
KRAUS Bolden KPF-5003 Wall-Mount Pot Filler
Wall mount · 4.0 gpm at 60 psi · 23-5/8 in. overall reach fully extended (KRAUS product page) · 10-3/8 in. tall, 13-3/8 in. long folded · 1/2-14 NPSM connection · cold water supply only · quarter-turn levers; both must be open for water to flow · KRAUS Limited Lifetime Warranty
KRAUS says both levers must be open before water flows, which it says helps prevent accidental activation and spills on the stovetop. Each lever is a quarter turn. The second lever sits on the arm, so you can run it with the arm fully out. KRAUS lists 4.0 gpm at 60 psi, a lead-free brass body and a ceramic cartridge, and says it connects to cold water only. Its product page gives an overall reach of 23-5/8 in. fully extended. The Amazon listings title it “21.5 in.” and one of them lists 21-1/2 in. of reach. KRAUS’s own spec-sheet drawing adds up closer to the shorter figure: about 21-3/8 in. from the wall to the outlet (our arithmetic: 2-5/8 + 8-1/8 + 10-5/8 in.). Plan on the shorter number until KRAUS confirms.
The connection is listed as 1/2-14 NPSM, a straight thread, where the Moen and Delta list 1/2 in. IPS. Check that the stub fits before you close the wall. The KRAUS manual has a misprint where the stub-out length should be: it repeats the thread size instead of a distance. Call KRAUS at 800-775-0703 for the figure, or dry-fit the seat on the stub. The manual has you fasten the seat to the wall with four screws in 1/4 in. anchors. It warns you not to drill into supply piping hidden behind the wall. The warranty is the KRAUS Limited Lifetime Warranty. We link the Matte Black and Champagne Bronze finishes, both sold by Amazon.
- Both levers must be open for water to flow, per KRAUS
- Second lever on the arm for use at full extension
- Lead-free brass body and ceramic cartridge, per KRAUS
- Two finishes sold by Amazon when we checked
- KRAUS page (23-5/8 in.) and Amazon listing (21-1/2 in.) disagree on reach
- 1/2-14 NPSM connection, not the 1/2 in. IPS the Moen and Delta use
- Manual misprints the stub-out length
- 4.0 gpm, less flow than the Moen and Kohler
Verdict: The pick when spills over the stove worry you most, as long as you confirm the stub fit and reach.
Kingston Brass KS4707PKL Duchess Deck-Mount Pot Filler
Deck mount, single hole · 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in. countertop hole · 3.0 gpm at 60 psi · spout extends up to 21-11/16 in. · 17 in. spout height · 1/2-14 NPSM inlet · cold water supply only · ceramic disc cartridge, two levers · 10-year limited warranty on faucets
A deck-mount pot filler sits on the counter beside the range and connects under the counter like a kitchen faucet. You need no supply line in the wall behind the stove. Kingston Brass’s install sheet has you push the shank through a 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in. countertop hole, then tighten the washer and lock nut from below with a basin wrench. Next, tape the threads on the inlet shank and the shut-off valve and connect the supply line. Kingston warns that over-tightening the nut may crack the valve and cause a severe leak. It says to use a silicone-based caulk, not plumber’s putty.
Kingston lists 3.0 gpm at 60 psi, a 17 in. spout height and a double-jointed spout that extends up to 21-11/16 in. That is the lowest flow here. The same product page also lists a 24-1/2 in. reach “from wall to end”, which does not fit a deck mount. The two arm lengths on Kingston’s drawing, 13 in. and 8-11/16 in., add up to 21-11/16 in. from the post to the outlet (our arithmetic), so we use that figure. Its drawing shows a 1/2-14 NPSM inlet at the bottom of the shank, and the product page says cold water supply only. The warranty on Kingston faucets is 10 years limited, shorter than the lifetime warranties on the wall-mount picks. The listing we link is sold by Amazon. Plumber’s note: you need a free cold water line and room under the counter for a shut-off valve and supply line. Those usually come from the sink base or a cabinet next to the range.
- No supply line in the wall behind the stove
- Installs like a faucet, with a supply line and shut-off valve under the counter
- 17 in. spout height and ceramic disc cartridge, per Kingston
- Sold by Amazon when we checked
- 3.0 gpm, the lowest flow here
- 10-year limited faucet warranty, not lifetime
- Takes counter space next to the range
- Needs a cold water line under the counter
Verdict: The pick when you cannot open the wall behind the range but can reach a cold water line under the counter.
I send an occasional note when a new guide goes up — repairs worth doing yourself, and the parts that actually last. No spam, no course funnel; written by a licensed Georgia plumber.
Before You Buy
- Decide if the wall can be opened. Every wall-mount model here needs the supply pipe anchored inside the wall. If not, go deck-mount.
- Find the cold water line. A wall-mount pot filler needs a 1/2 in. cold branch run up inside the wall behind the range. A deck-mount one needs a cold line under the counter.
- Check what else is in that wall. KRAUS warns not to drill its mounting holes into supply piping hidden behind the wall. Plumber’s note: gas lines, range hood ducts and wiring also run behind ranges, so open the wall and look first.
- Check for an exterior wall. Plumber’s note: if the range sits on an outside wall, keep the pipe on the warm side of the insulation. A freeze in that wall means opening the tile to fix it.
- Plan the height before the tile goes up. Mock up the spout height with your tallest pot, and check hood and backsplash clearance (see the FAQ).
Installing a Wall-Mount Pot Filler
Blocking and the stub-out
Moen, Delta and Kohler all want the pipe fixed to wood; the KRAUS manual does not cover the framing. Kohler says to install a 2×4 backing flush with the studs, secure the supply pipe to it and center the pipe vertically in the backing. Delta recommends stringers for a secure mount. Moen’s first drawing shows the fitting anchored to a wood cross-piece between the studs, set flush with the stud faces. Stub-out length is where they differ:
- Kohler: 1/2 NPT supply pipe extending no more than 1/2 in. beyond the finished wall, with a 1-5/16 in. hole around it (the guide’s tool list names a 1-5/8 in. hole saw).
- Delta: 1/2 in. IPS pipe extending 1/2 in. past the finished wall, and a 1 in. recommended hole.
- Moen: 1/2 in. IPS stub extending 1/2 in., plus or minus 1/4 in., past the finished wall.
- KRAUS: a 1/2-14 NPSM threaded connection; the stub-out length is misprinted in the manual, so confirm with KRAUS.
Plumber’s note: the tile or finished wall thickness decides how long the nipple must be. Set the stub after you know the finished surface, or leave it long and cut it to length once the wall is done.
The supply pipe: PEX or copper
The makers specify only the threaded connection, not the pipe behind it. Plumber’s note: in a remodel, the branch is usually PEX or copper, ending in a threaded brass fitting fastened to the blocking. The threaded stub is what the faucet screws onto, so it has to be rigid. See PEX vs copper vs CPVC, our PEX starter kit picks and our copper press fitting picks.
Add a shut-off you can reach
Plumber’s note: a wall-mount pot filler has no stop valve under it the way a sink faucet does. Its own handles are the only shut-off at the wall. Put a shut-off valve on the branch where you can reach it, such as the sink base, a basement or a crawl space. Then you can change a cartridge without shutting off the whole house. Delta’s own fix for a leak from the spout or handle is a cartridge swap. See supply stop valves by pipe type and our under-sink shut-off valve picks.
Mount it and seal the threads
Moen, Delta and KRAUS call for thread seal tape or pipe tape on the stub, and Kohler lists sealant tape in its tools (see our Teflon tape picks). Each maker has you thread the faucet or seat on, mark the four screw holes in the wall flange, remove it and drill. Delta calls for 3/32 in. holes, or 1/4 in. with its anchors. Moen calls for 3/32 in. holes, Kohler for a 1/8 in. bit, and KRAUS for 1/4 in. holes for its anchors. Moen and Kohler both call for a strap wrench to tighten the body, and Moen says to level the arm with a small level. Delta says to tighten securely but not overtighten. Kohler says not to use petroleum-based products on the faucet.
Flush and check for leaks
Delta says to remove the aerator, open the handles and flush the lines for one minute, because debris can damage internal parts, then check every connection. KRAUS says to let water run for at least one minute. Kohler says to confirm both handles are off before turning the water on, check for leaks, then open both handles to flush debris and reinstall the aerator. Moen’s instructions say to run the water for a few seconds before using it for drinking or cooking.
Deck-mount install
Kingston Brass says to flush the supply lines to clear debris and then shut them off. Next, push the shank through a 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in. countertop hole and tighten the washer and lock nut with a basin wrench. Tape the threads on the inlet shank and the shut-off valve, connect the supply line and check for leaks, especially at the supply line connections. Last, remove the aerator and run the water for at least a minute. Kingston warns that over-tightening the nut may crack the valve. See our braided faucet supply line picks for the connector.
Care
Moen suggests a non-abrasive wax, such as car wax, and says to rinse off any cleaner right away. KRAUS says to rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth, and not to clean with soaps, acid, polish, abrasives or harsh cleaners. Kingston Brass says to clean with mild soap and water only. Kohler says no petroleum-based products.
When to call a pro
Kohler says to follow all local plumbing and building codes. Plumber’s note: running a new branch inside a finished wall usually means cutting drywall or tile, working around gas and electrical lines, and in many towns pulling a permit. Hire it out if you are not comfortable opening the wall, sweating copper or making PEX connections that will be buried. The faucet itself is a few screws and one threaded joint once the stub is right.
FAQ
Does a pot filler need hot water?
No. Delta, KRAUS and Kingston Brass all say their pot fillers connect to cold water only, and every model here connects to one 1/2 in. supply. Moen’s instructions also say to use only cold water for drinking or cooking, and to run the water for a few seconds first.
What size pipe does a pot filler need?
A 1/2 in. supply. Moen lists a 1/2 in. IPS connection, Delta a 1/2 in. IPS stub-out and Kohler a 1/2 NPT supply pipe. KRAUS and Kingston Brass list a 1/2-14 NPSM connection, which is a straight thread. Check the thread your model calls for before the wall is closed. See our PEX vs copper vs CPVC guide for the pipe itself.
Can I add a pot filler without opening the wall?
Not a wall-mount one. Moen, Delta and Kohler all call for or recommend anchoring the supply pipe to blocking between the studs, with a threaded stub out through the finished wall. If you cannot open the wall, a deck-mount pot filler like the Kingston Brass KS4707PKL installs through a countertop hole and connects under the counter with a supply line and shut-off valve.
How high should a pot filler be above the stove?
None of the five makers gave a mounting height in the documents we read. Plumber’s note: before the rough-in, hold your tallest stockpot on the cooktop and mark a height where the spout clears its rim with room to tilt it out. Check that the folded arm clears the range hood and the backsplash tile. Kohler says to follow all local plumbing and building codes.
Why does a pot filler have two handles?
One valve is at the wall and one is at the end of the arm. Delta says this lets you shut the water off at either the wall or the spout. KRAUS says both levers must be open for water to flow, which helps prevent spills. Moen says to turn off both handles when not in use.

Bottom Line
The Moen S665 is the pot filler to buy for most kitchens, with the most flow and reach here and a standard 1/2 in. IPS stub. The Delta 1165LF has the clearest rough-in numbers, the Kohler K-35744 suits a traditional kitchen, and the KRAUS KPF-5003 guards against spills. The Kingston Brass KS4707PKL skips the wall entirely. Anchor the stub to blocking, match the thread to the faucet, add a shut-off you can reach, and flush the line before you use it.
