For everyday food prep: start with the compact 1/2 HP Moen Prep GT50C. The Lite GT33C suits lighter scraps in the same-size body; the 1 HP Chef EXL100C adds stainless grind parts and a cabinet light. Choose the GXB75C for batch-feed stopper control only after resolving its electrical instructions. Check mount, drain height and warranty eligibility before buying.
Our pick for most kitchens: the Moen Prep Series GT50C 1/2 HP disposal. Check the Moen Prep GT50C on Amazon
This guide compares four exact Moen models: Lite GT33C, Prep GT50C, batch-feed Host GXB75C and lighted Chef EXL100C. They come with a power cord and Moen says they fit most existing 3-bolt mounts; neither claim makes every installation a straight swap. Other models in the same series can have different controls or features. Choose by the named model, its instructions and the work your kitchen needs.

Specs are from the exact Moen sheets and product pages linked below. *The 5/10-year limited terms apply to qualifying original residential consumers, including qualifying multi-family occupants; commercial applications have a 1-year term. See the eligibility and exclusions below. On October 8, 2026, the public Amazon pages and Creators API showed all four linked models in stock and sold by Amazon.com.
Choose by food scraps and controls
- Lite (1/3 HP): Moen lists light scraps like fruit skins, cereal and soft foods.
- Prep (1/2 HP): everyday prep scraps like celery, potato peels and seeds.
- Host (3/4 HP): small fruit pits, lemon rinds, banana peels, small bones and cooked meats.
- Chef (1 HP): raw and cooked meat, corncobs, chicken bones and large fruit pits.
Moen’s named model descriptions above are use examples, not permission to grind every bone or tough scrap. Its GT and EXL guides, and the current INS13367B guide linked for the GXB75C, prohibit large whole bones, clam or oyster shells, whole corn husks, glass, china, plastic, metal and hot grease or other hot liquids. Do not put hands into the disposal; disconnect power before attempting to clear a jam and follow the exact model’s procedure. Keep children supervised around any disposal.
Fit and Install Checks
- Check the cabinet and drain route. GT33C/GT50C are 13-1/8 in. tall, GXB75C 15-5/8 in. and EXL100C 16 in. Moen’s drawings show top widths of 5-7/8 in. for the GT pair, 7-1/2 in. for GXB75C and 8-3/8 in. for EXL100C; allow room for the drain elbow, trap and any light/sensor. The GT discharge centerline is 6-5/8 in. below the sink bottom, plus 1/2 in. for a stainless sink. Our reading of the drawings puts EXL100C at about 7-3/16 in. and GXB75C at 9 in. Have the installer check the complete drain route if the new outlet would sit below the wall connection.
- Check the sink and connections. All four sheets list a maximum 1/2-in. sink thickness, 1-1/2-in. drain connection and 7/8-in. dishwasher inlet. Use the exact unit’s dishwasher-plug removal procedure before connecting a dishwasher; the tool/procedure can differ between model generations.
- Resolve the power plan before buying. All four are corded and hardwire-capable; the continuous-feed GT and EXL guides require a dedicated switch marked Off within sight of the sink opening or disposal. GXB75C’s spec sheet says its stopper activates it with no wall switch required, but the linked INS13367B guide’s printed pages 9–10 call for a dedicated marked-Off switch. Ask Moen and a qualified installer to resolve the instructions for the exact unit and local electrical requirements before choosing it for a no-switch kitchen. A cord does not fix an unsuitable outlet or circuit.
- Check what is included. The sheets/product pages list a cord, flange/stopper, drain elbow and mounting assembly; GXB75C includes its batch-feed stopper. Both GT sheets list an unjamming wrench. EXL100C’s guide lists four AA batteries for the light; that feature has a separate 2-year warranty. The cited hardwire procedures require a cable connector and wire nuts that are not included. Have the installer identify any extra connection parts for your actual setup.
Moen Prep Series GT50C 1/2 HP Disposal
1/2 HP permanent magnet VORTEX motor · 2,600 RPM · continuous feed, wall switch · 9.5 lb · 13-1/8 in. tall · 4.5 A · galvanized steel grind ring · 360° Clean Rinse · FAST TRACK install, unjamming wrench · pre-installed cord, hardwire capable · 5-year limited warranty with in-home service
The Prep is Moen’s everyday disposal. Moen describes it for basic food prep, scraps like celery, potato peels and seeds, and lists a 1/2 horsepower VORTEX permanent magnet motor at 2,600 RPM in a compact 9.5 pound, 13-1/8 inch tall body that leaves room under the sink.
Moen’s spec sheet says it fits most existing mounting assemblies, including InSinkErator’s, and it comes with a pre-installed power cord that removes for hardwiring, an unjamming wrench and Moen’s FAST TRACK installation system. Its 5-year limited in-home term depends on the consumer/application eligibility below.
- Compact: 9.5 lb, 13-1/8 in. tall, per Moen
- Fits most existing 3-bolt mounts, per Moen
- Cord pre-installed
- Unjamming wrench included
- 5-year qualifying residential term vs 10 on these Host/Chef models
- Galvanized grind ring, not stainless, per the spec sheet
- Moen lists everyday scraps, not bones
Verdict: Start here for everyday food prep if the mount and complete drain/electrical setup fit. The Lite already covers lighter scraps; the Chef is a larger stainless-parts option, not a necessary upgrade for every family.
Moen Chef Series EXL100C 1 HP Lighted Disposal
1 HP permanent magnet VORTEX motor · 2,800 RPM · continuous feed, wall switch · stainless steel grind ring and turntable · SoundSHIELD insulation · motion-activated cabinet light (6 LEDs, 75 lumens, 4 AA batteries) · 14.8 lb · 16 in. tall · 7 A · pre-installed cord, hardwire capable · 10-year limited warranty with in-home service (lighted electronics 2 years)
The Chef is the 1 HP series, the most powerful of the four here. Moen lists a 1 horsepower VORTEX motor at 2,800 RPM, stainless steel grind components and SoundSHIELD insulation, and says it handles raw and cooked meat, corncobs, chicken bones and large fruit pits. It also has a motion-activated cabinet light that turns on six LEDs when you open the door.
Size is the trade-off. At 16 inches tall and 14.8 pounds it is the biggest Moen here, so measure from the sink to the trap arm before you buy. It draws 7 amps, against 4.5 for the smaller models, per Moen. The qualifying residential term is 10 years with in-home service; Moen’s installation guide gives the lighted electronics 2 years. The light runs on four AA batteries, which the guide lists in the box.
- 1 HP, 2,800 RPM, per Moen
- Stainless steel grind ring and turntable
- 10-year limited term for qualifying residential use
- Built-in cabinet light
- 16 in. tall: check trap height
- 14.8 lb, the heaviest here
- 7 A draw
- Light runs on AA batteries and has a 2-year warranty, per Moen’s guide
Verdict: Choose it for heavier food prep when its larger body and drain route fit, and the stainless grind parts/light justify the upgrade. Do not buy it solely for a 10-year term without checking eligibility.
Moen Host Series GXB75C 3/4 HP Batch Feed Disposal
3/4 HP permanent magnet VORTEX motor · 2,700 RPM · batch-feed stopper control; resolve switch instructions · galvanized steel grind ring, stainless turntable · SoundSHIELD insulation · 12.1 lb · 15-5/8 in. tall · 4.5 A · pre-installed cord, hardwire capable · 10-year limited warranty with in-home service
The GXB75C uses batch-feed stopper control: load one batch, then use the stopper to activate it. Its spec sheet says no wall switch is required, but its linked guide calls for one; resolve that conflict for your exact unit before planning the electrical work. Stopper control does not remove the need for child supervision or the manual’s safety precautions. Moen lists a 3/4 horsepower VORTEX motor at 2,700 RPM and SoundSHIELD insulation.
Moen says it handles small fruit pits, lemon rinds, banana peels, small bones and cooked meats. Its spec sheet lists a galvanized steel grind ring with a stainless steel turntable, 12.1 pounds and 15-5/8 inches tall. Its 10-year limited in-home term depends on the consumer/application eligibility below.
- Batch-feed stopper control, per the model sheet
- Runs only with the stopper in
- 10-year limited term for qualifying residential use
- 3/4 HP at 2,700 RPM
- One load at a time; resolve conflicting switch instructions
- Galvanized grind ring
- 15-5/8 in. tall
Verdict: Consider it when you want batch-feed stopper control and its taller drain position fits. Confirm the switch/power arrangement with Moen and your installer before buying; no simple no-switch swap is assumed.
Moen Lite Series GT33C 1/3 HP Disposal
1/3 HP permanent magnet VORTEX motor · 1,900 RPM · continuous feed, wall switch · 9.5 lb · 13-1/8 in. tall · 4.5 A · 360° Clean Rinse · FAST TRACK install · pre-installed cord, hardwire capable · 5-year limited warranty with in-home service
The Lite is for a kitchen that sees little cooking: Moen lists light scraps such as fruit skins, cereal and other soft foods. It shares the Prep’s compact 9.5 pound, 13-1/8 inch body, the FAST TRACK installation features and the 5-year in-home warranty, but turns at 1,900 RPM with a 1/3 horsepower motor.
Moen’s two documents describe its grind parts differently: the spec sheet lists a galvanized steel grind ring with a stainless steel turntable, while the product page lists the grind component as stainless steel. For light scraps, the Lite can be enough without an upgrade. Confirm the grind material with Moen if it determines your choice; the sheet/page conflict remains unresolved. The Prep adds motor capacity in the same-size body. For a rental or investment property, check who qualifies under Moen’s residential or multi-family definition. Where nobody qualifies, its commercial term is 1 year rather than 5.
- Same compact body as the Prep, per Moen
- Fits most existing 3-bolt mounts
- Cord pre-installed
- 5-year limited term for qualifying residential use
- 1/3 HP; described for lighter scraps
- Moen’s spec sheet and product page differ on grind material
- Same cabinet dimensions as the Prep; lower motor capacity
Verdict: Choose it for light scraps if its installation fits; compare the Prep when everyday food prep needs more motor capacity.

Before You Buy
- Choose the exact model by scraps and batch/continuous control; series names alone do not specify the equipment.
- Check warranty eligibility before valuing the 5/10-year limited term; commercial applications have a 1-year term.
- Measure the whole installation: cabinet width/height, discharge position, trap route and sink thickness.
- Confirm switch and power arrangements: resolve the GXB75C sheet/guide conflict with Moen and your installer.
- Reuse the old mount only if it fits. Follow our mount guide and the new unit’s instructions; included cord/mount parts do not guarantee a complete swap.
Moen’s In-Home Warranty: The Terms
- Who is covered. Moen’s warranty covers the original residential consumer: someone who owns and lives in the home when the disposal is first installed, the first buyer and occupant of a new home, or a resident of a duplex, apartment or cooperative who pays for the disposal and its maintenance. It does not transfer to later owners of the home.
- Rentals and commercial use. Where nobody meets that definition, Moen calls it a commercial application and the warranty runs 1 year from the purchase date, with the same in-home service. Moen’s examples include owners of commercial or investment buildings.
- What in-home service means. Moen repairs or replaces the disposal in your home in the United States or Canada, free of charge, or gives a refund or a credit toward another Moen disposal if it decides a repair is not feasible. Moen asks for proof of purchase and of premises ownership.
- Exclusions and claims. The terms exclude incorrect-installation damage, caustic-cleaner damage, outdoor use and unauthorized repair/service, among other exclusions. Access work such as removing other fixtures is not covered. Contact Moen for authorized service before arranging a warranty repair; it determines coverage and may require returned parts.
- The Chef’s light. Moen’s EXL100C installation guide gives the lighted electronics a 2-year warranty.

FAQ
Which Moen garbage disposal series is best?
Compare the exact model with your scraps, controls and installation. GT33C is the lighter-scrap choice; GT50C adds motor capacity in the same-size body. EXL100C adds stainless grind parts and a cabinet light in a larger unit. GXB75C offers batch-feed stopper control, but resolve its conflicting switch instructions before buying it for a no-switch kitchen. The Prep is a starting point for everyday food prep, not a necessary upgrade for every home.
Will a Moen disposal fit my InSinkErator mount?
Usually. Moen says its mount fits most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies, including InSinkErator’s. Our Moen vs InSinkErator mount guide covers when it will and will not hang on the old mount.
Do Moen disposals come with a power cord?
All four named models have a pre-installed cord and are listed as hardwire-capable. The continuous-feed GT/EXL guides require a dedicated marked-Off switch within sight. GXB75C’s sheet says no wall switch is required, but the linked INS13367B guide calls for one. Confirm the electrical arrangement for your exact GXB75C with Moen and a qualified installer; hardwire connection parts are not all included.
Can I connect a dishwasher to a Moen disposal?
The four sheets list a 7/8-inch dishwasher inlet. Follow the exact unit’s inlet-plug removal instructions before connecting the hose; tools and procedures can differ. If the dishwasher will not drain after installation, check the plug and hose/drain route before assuming either appliance needs replacement.
Are Moen disposals OK with a septic tank?
Moen says all four are compatible with properly sized septic tanks or systems. Plumber’s note: a disposal adds solids to the tank, so ask whoever services your septic system whether it should be pumped more often.

Your Moen shortlist
Start with GT50C for everyday prep, keep GT33C on the shortlist for lighter scraps, and compare EXL100C when stainless grind parts and the light are useful in a cabinet that fits. Choose GXB75C for deliberate batch-feed control only after resolving the electrical instructions. Check model-specific mount/drain/contents fit and warranty eligibility before ordering.
